My husband and I treated our friends and ourselves to a stay at Hotel Villa Marsili this summer. The hotel was wonderful. The view from our room was breathtaking. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was far more than the typical continental breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again if I find myself in Cortona in the future!

Beautiful hotel with excellent, efficient staff. Were very helpful with my extremely late arrival and accommodating when I need to stay an extra night. If I every return to Italy, this hotel will be my "home base". Lovely location and staff.

We liked the position of the hotel on the edge of Cortona which was more relaxing and the parking was easy close by and free! The only bad mark we would give is on settling the bill we paid on an English visa card and were asked "would we like to pay in euros or sterling" I said sterling and after the transaction your receipt says they have charged 2.5% over the current rate and you have agreed to that !! Not happy with that at all.

This hotel was incredible. Great rooms with a beautiful view over the valley, staff was extremely friendly, and the town is charming. We would definitely stay here again.

We had probably the most consistently welcoming staff here of any hotel we've been to in Italy, which is already a pretty high benchmark. The hotel is an old manor house with a small courtyard on one of the roads into the town. The rooms are well sized with slightly old-fashioned furnishings but very comfortable. The town centre of Cortona is a 10 minute walk up a reasonably steep hill and there are a variety of excellent restaurants there. The hotel only serves breakfast (plus a very pleasant free cocktail and hors d'ouvres in the evening). A very enjoyable stay.

Hotel Villa Marsili was wonderful. We were upgraded to a suite with jacuzzi. Rooms very spacious. Spent 3 nights there but could have stayed longer. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious and cocktails in the evening a good idea as you met the other guests. Only negative was the hotel did not serve dinner, but staff recommended some very good restaurants in Cortona which were all excellent, and only a five minute walk away. Would certainly stay again.

I have been to Cortona many times and this was one of the best. The hotel was fabulous and the staff very helpful (They arranged taxi pickups from the station, to surrounding towns and to the station for us, and were great). Thanks to the newer escalators installed by the city a few meters below the hotel that take you to the main street level, access was a breeze.

This is easily the best, most comfortable, safest, best serviced and most lovely hotel I've ever stayed at. The rooms are spick and span, clean and with all you need; the staff is incredibly nice and helpful, making you feel right at home; the safety is top notch; the prices are not at all bad considering what it covers; location is great; the hotel itself is looks and feels great (renovated a few years back) and the breakfast and afternoon aperitiff top it all off! I HIGHLY recommend Villa Marsili and Cortona. (tip: Finding the hotel you should not use Google Maps, they erroneously place the hotel on a parking lot, just make a note of the address and follow the numbers on the street).

This hotel was the best we have stayed in over three separate trips to Italy during the past three years. The location in Cortona is tops, given that there is always the odd hill to climb anywhere in this district. As for the hotel, well, one can only say it is an absolute credit to its owners and staff. It is beautifully decorated and furnished with clean linen and towels every day. As for the delightful staff we dealt with we owe them our full gratitude for the assistance and guidance given so graciously at all times. Thank you Iulia,Luanna,Stephano and the kind and attentive man in charge of breakfast and the curtesy catering in the evenings. We shall return one day!!!

This is a quality hotel with excellent service and surroundings. The breakfast is one of the best you will have in Italy. We were only going to stay here two nights, but extended for two more because we enjoyed the area so much. The entire staff was very compitent and helful. The rooms are very nice with a large bathroom.

There are only two slightly negative comments I have about Villa Marsilli. It is located right on the intersection of two streets and the noise from the traffic can be disturbing. Also, it is not in the very center of Cortona but located at the bottom of a hill. So, it requires a slight hike to get into town. One more thing, there is no on-site parking so you have to park where you can find a spot. Which can be tough in this little town. Otherwise, the staff was great, the room spacious and they serve a great breakfast and dinner appertif.

I loved this hotel. It is just what you expect in Cortona. The service was friendly and attentive to the guests need. It was a fun place to stay. Be aware there is no free parking, but one can park in the street easy enough with no problem.

Lovely hotel with a great staff. No parking is available at the hotel, but for $7 Euro they will park your car or you can try and find a place on the street. They have a computer you can use off the lobby or a LAN connection in room. The internet fee was $5 Euro for 30 minutes, which was higher than any other place we stayed. However, that was a small price to pay for such a wonderful hotel. For a winery tour, ask them to make a reservation at Banfi (about 1 1/2 hour drive).

Excellent hotel in a very nice environment, but expensive. Parking could be a pain, as the hotel do not have an own parking area. Except these I could fully recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Cortona!

The hotel and staff were superb. The only discrepancy was that Venere advised there was shuttle service to and from the train station. I requested said service and was told a cab would be sent for me. Once I arrived at the hotel however I was expected to pay for the cab. (?) I told the manager of the information on Venere and he took care of the cab fare. The hotel is in a good location about two blocks downhill from Piazza Garibaldi. When I left I was able to take the bus, and the stop is just outside the rear hotel door.

Staff were absolutely first class. Very helpful, especially Elizabeth, who arranged a visit to the Avigonesi vineyard. A top team, and which persuaded me to extend my stay from one night to five.

This is the first time I have stayed at the Villa Marsilli and would definitely recommned it to others. The service was exceptional, the breakfast buffet thoroughly enjoyable, and the provision of apperitifs each evening (also liqueur later in the evening) were unexpected and a much appreciated welcoming touch. Although there was no restaurant, there were plenty of places to eat a short walk away in Cortona. Likewise, the hotel had no parking of its own, but there was ample (and safe)space in an adjoining road. A thoroughly enjoyable stay - a great start to our holiday.

Recommend w/o hesitation. Large front-facing room had a 60+mile view to die for. Quality of renovation is spectacular, well deserves its 4 stars and is just short of Relais & Chateau quality (needing only a full-service restaurant for dinners, etc.) Close walk to all major Cortona sights. Recommend for couples or small families.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was as advertised and the staff were very helpful, sometimes providing services that were not expected, such as taking us to the train station and helping purchase tickets from the machine there. The only minor thing that could be improved was that the hotel did not subscribe to Sky 3, which carried the World Cup games. We would definitely return.

Great stay in May 2006. Very clean, spacious hotel. Helpful staff, good breakfast, apertif offered in evening before dinner and vin santo after dinner, nice touches all around. Very easy walk (< 5 min) to the center of town. Would recommend very highly, one of the best quality/price values I've had in Italy. If you are going to Cortona, this a great place to stay, you will not be disappointed.

An elegant and intimate hotel with a lovely but very small garden. The view from our room (at the front of the hotel) was superb. We were given complimentary drinks, olives etc. before we went out to dinner and Vin Santo with Cantucci biscuits on our return. The walk into the centre of town is only a few minutes. The restaurant they recommended was superb. Be careful if you park at the front of the hotel to unload as the exit onto the road is virtually blind both ways. Otherwise excellent.

This beautiful hotel was nicely situated just outside of the wall in Cortona but within a 5 min walk to Via Nazionale - Main Street. The room qas quiet although it was on the main road around the city and we expected it to be noisy. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt and a variety of breads and pastries. Each evening, they offered free drinks before dinner and had Vin Santo and biscotti after dinner.

If Villa Marsili is only a 4-star property, I may have to wait to die and go to heaven to experience 5-star accommdations. This property is virtually all one could ask for in a vacation hotel. Probably the most warm, genuine, helpful staff ever; spacious, immaculate room and bath; outstanding breakfast buffet, and a very convenient location at the very edge of Cortona. Parking in this congested hilltown is an adventure, and there's no high-speed Internet access. The small forecourt of this converted villa is really its only "public space", but it's a Tuscan hilltown. If you want public space, go to the Piazza Nazionale and sit on the church steps - it's more fun anyway. They don't have their own restaurant and will send you to places they favor. But don't worry, they won't steer you wrong. I honestly can't imagine staying anywhere other than Villa Marsili in Cortona.

The view was beautiful and the hotel was very quaint. This hotel is most accomodating to older couples, though, and may not be the best place for people with younger children. One concierge was slightly pretentious, though that was the only problem we experienced.

This is an excellent hotel for the price. It is on the edge of town, so there is a 2-300 yard walk up to the Piazza Garibaldi. It was a little unclear whether parking was free or not. It is 12 E a day.

I was a bit skeptical about Villa Marsili since it was not my first choice. But the hotel was wonderful. The room had an iron bed and a murano chandellier. We had a window with a view of the Tuscan valley. It was just lovely. The only issue was our 2 year old daugther was with us and the room was not ready with a portable crib. We had been up 24 hours and it took 2 hours to get this to our room.

A lovely hotel within walking distance of the centre of Cortona. Service was friendly and first-rate and our room was very pleasant with good views. My only negative comment concerns the tendency to overplay the 'garden' in the hotel's publicity. It exists and is very neat but is very small and next to the bus stop - not somewhere to pass a few quiet hours!

We enjoyed every aspect of this hotel. Small enough to give the feeling of staying in a Villa and yet first class service. Evening drinks and appetizers added to the enjoyment of the public areas. Parking is an issue. We were led to believe that there was free parking on the site of the villa when in fact there was a 10 euro charge or you could park on public streets for free. The parking sites were not easy to find and on some nights not very close. On the public streets our car received a fender bender one of the evenings it was parked. We were not concerned because we had purchased the proper rental insurances to cover such an incident.

Cortona is a jewel and the hotel deserves every bit of the 4 stars. The breakfast was outstanding. Location was on the entry road to the walled city, but did not effect noise or acces to city activities. We would recommed this hotel at any time.
