Hotel Italia - Cortona

The only criticism of this lovely hotel is that our air conditioning unit broke down at about midnight...reception closes at 10.00pm and there is no emergency number to call from the room phone. My husband went to try to find someone to no avail ,and so we spent an extremely uncomfortable,hot night...my suggestion would be to give a number for emergencies...

Overall I was very happy with my stay. The room was nice, clean and had a great view. It was a little small, but quite nice. It was very clean and welcomming. The hotel staff were great and helped us with several issues including laundry, restaurant reservations, trains and taxis. I would like to make one small suggestion: provide a small booklet outlining some of the features of the hotel and surrounding services, ie how to use the phone and sample charges, what channels are available on the TV and where to buy common items locally (water, wine, beer snacks...) and other Frequently Asked Questions. It was a very nice, newly renovated hotel in a great location with great staff. I would definitely reccommend this hotel. It's location is probably the best in town, next to the main piazza and shopping/eating district.

Staff was very good. Internet was only available certain times of day. Room had an unpleasant odor.

The reception area of the hotel is excelent but the rest is a let-down. The 'en-suite' bathrom resembles a sad prefabricated portacabin in the corner of the room. There was no toilet roll holder and apparently they were unable to provide one, although we asked. The shower cabinet was rusty. The television set could not be switched off by the remote control. Etc, etc. This was certainly not a three star bedroom. To use the downstairs toilet one had to ask reception for the key. There was no bar in the hotel, nor a welcoming seating area/lounge. Overall, a very disappointing experience, in a hotal that could be upgraded with relatively little outlay.

Good location at center of town. Hotel is well maintained with courteous, helpful staff. Getting to hotel by car is difficult. Access is easiest by walking from parking lot(free)located about 400' away down a rather steep hill. Breakfast was average for a three star hotel.

The hotel is located few meters from Palazzo Communale (town centre). Three loevely restaurants are just beside the hotel. Amazing Toscana Valley view from hotel breakfast-room. Really, good place to stay.

The town was very beautiful, and Hotel Itaria was very beautiful.too.

I would stay here again and even spend a week in Cortona. It is beautiful. The hotel is just off of the main square in town. When arriving by train it is best to get out at the first stop for Cortona when coming from Firenze.

The location was excellent and the staff were helpful. The room was small and the large breakfast room on the top floor was closed necessitating use of the smaller one on the ground floor. The instant coffee machine had a problem. The hotel should invest in a real coffee machine and offer breakfast coffee service at the table.

The staff were very welcoming and arranged a dinner reservation for us however there was some confusion about where to park the car and how to get the bags to the hotel. We ended up trudging up a long steep hill that could have been avoided. The web site should have detailed instructions on where to park, how to walk in and the fact that you can drive and drop off including which streets to take as many are restricted. We had emailed the hotel beforehand but received no reply, and finally called on the day and received confusing instructions. The rooms were clean, odd shape but otherwise fine. The promised amazing view from the breakfast room was not available as the early morning sun made it too hot, but we were still able to go up and look. The staff were very attentive. They had a good breakfast available and internet access, although the screen was so ancient it was difficult to view. Overall, a good experience.

Very central and close to good restaurants. The room was very clean and the reception staff very friendly.

The hotel has comfortably renovated and had a cozy atmosphere. The most surprising thing was the view from the breakfast room. We could enjoy the beautiful view of Toscana.

Hotel Italia was wonderful! Our room was beautiful and quite spacious with a nice bathroom. We especially loved the views each morning in the breakfast room. The staff people were very helpful, the location was fantastic (within walking distance to everything in Cortona), and we would definitely stay again.
