Hotel Borgo il Melone Locanda - Cortona

We loved this hotel! We ate at the restaurant every night for the 5 nights and the food was wonderful. Centrally located, we did day trips to Siena,Florence,San Gimignano,and Cortona. Better directions would have been helpful as well as knowing the hotel is in Camucia not Cortona.

This hotel was located in a valley below the hilltop town of Cortona. The grounds surrounding the hotel were beautiful. The room was very spacious and very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitor to Cortona.

In 10 weeks of travelling europe, this has to be the best that we have booked, and is the best value for money available

I loved the place, I learnt it used to be a large farm from XVIII c., with quite a few buildings within its grounds. Some of them have been renewed and form now the hotel. Lilacs and wisteria were in bloom (it was the end of April), wonderful. A very kind man at reception showed me photos of the roses in the garden, when their time comes, a beauty. The only thing on the negative side is the noise in the bathroom when the central light there is on; but surely it can be changed. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Our only regret was that we were staying only one night. This was a beautiful hotel and such good value for money. The restaurant was also very good and the staff of both hotel and restaurant friendly and knowledgeable.

I would definitely recommend the Borgo Il Melone for the nice welcome, good food, and the pool (though it being August there were a lot of noisy children in it). Staff were friendly and the immediate location os delightful. We thought it was good value

We arrived very late and night without any issue and were immediately escorted up to our room - check-in took minimal time. The room was great and excellent value for money, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was powerful without leakage into the bathroom. The only slight downside was no tea / coffee making facilities but that's a British thing... Breakfasts were served either inside or outside - personal choice as to where to sit including the table. The breakfast was a good continental with copious coffee and various teas in teapots! The hotel pool was lovely, I was frequently the only person in the pool, at the most there were two other people in at the same time. We didn't eat in the hotel but we did have after dinner drinks in the restaurant which were amazing value, the only slight niggle was that a couple of comfy sofas would have been fantastic but that's me being fussy! I booked this hotel at short notice based upon recommendations on this website and can categorically state that it was a fantastic find and will visit again in the future. We stayed in a regular room for 6 nights and noted that most people only appeared to stay for a couple of nights when sitting at breakfast which is a shame as it's a great location in the foothills of Cortona. Does late 30s count as 'young' couple?!

Loved Borgo Il Melone. Best quality and aesthetics for best price in our 3 weeks in France and Italy. Staff very helpful, gracious, kind. Patient with my attempts to speak Italian; good command of English. Recommendation for restaurant in Cortona excellent. Roberta created a fine menu/meal for us in house. They upgraded our rooms for a nominal fee. Room spacious and nicely appointed; bathroom spacious with own window. All windows opened to lovely view of valley and hills. Alessandro and Gloria very welcoming. Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful experience! The facilities are top notch with spacious public areas and a huge swimming pool. We were there for an open air jazz concert, followed by a buffet dinner. Roberta works wonders in the kitchen - be sure to talk with her early in the day to plan dinner! My only suggestion would be better driving directions for finding this property.

Staying at the Borgo il Melone was one of the highlights of our trip! We loved the room and we loved the views. The staff spoke excellent English, and they were exceptionally nice people to chat with. It was great that a computer was made available to guests, and the breakfast was wonderful. None of the hotels we stayed at seemed to offer no-fat (skim) milk. For those of us who already have too much fat in our diets, it would have been nice to have been offered no-fat milk. I loved the fruit and variety of cereals at breakfast. In short, my stay met or exceeded my expectations.
