Whilst the overall experience was good, the staff when I checked in were not very good, they were unable to give me a parking permit ( It was given by the receptionist the next morning). However this meant I had to be up showered and dressed by 08:00 to move the car. The safe was not working and allthough I reported it nothing was done. All the window sill surfaces on the staircase required cleaning. Breakfast was served at the table by pleasant and attentive staff.

We stayed at Engadina primarily because of its proximity to the Centro Storico di Coma. This did not disappoint as it was a 5-7 minute walk. Carrefour store and Agip gas conveniently located nearby was very nice. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and continental breakfast was not over the top, but sufficient. Rooms were clean, well kept, towels and soaps replenished. We observed multiple cigarette butts in stairway leading to room. Would be nice if staff kept plants on balcony alive...Only two major flaws, 1) hotel is on a busy street, so you can hear traffic buzzing by all night. 2) Wi-Fi did not work at all in the apartment. We had to come down stairs into lobby to use internet on iphone. May notsound like a big deal, but how would you like to go up and down five stories every time you wanted to use internet? All in all, we picked it because it was close to city center. The hotel was serviceable and entirely forgettable.

In general the hotel was lovely with great staff. The location was just 5 minutes walk from the center and between both train stations. If one MUST say something negative, well the hotel is easy to miss although it is on the main street, it could be that there are many trees surrounding it (very weak excuse!). Anyway, you will not find better for the price, cleanliness and hospitality.

Manager and staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy to find the hotel. Room was very comfortable and clean. Bathroom was spacious and very good. Breakfast was good, too. Short straight forward stroll to the Esplanade and ferry and bus terminal, and eating places. This was our base for day trips to Bellagio on day of arrival from Firenze and next day, hiking up Monte Grona in Breglia, off Menanggio. Venturing in a new country in a new area and hiking by ourselves without a guide, was one of the highlights of our trip. Dinner outdoor at La Darsena on the Esplanade was good and comes with a 10% discount, courtesy of the same owners. Taxi to San Giovanni station cost 8 Eur and was cheap and worth it as it was raining.

We booked this last minute and were nervous about location and rooms. This was just what we needed traveling with 2 school aged children. We would definitely stay again. Only (minor) problem was that we were on the 5th floor and wireless connectivity (which was free!) was not accessible.

The hotel was conveniently located to the town centre, and to both the bus and rail stations. The staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were well kept. This hotel suited me perfectly. I wanted a very straightforward room because I knew I'd be out and about a lot. I would stay there again if I returned to Como.

The location is noisy but (in summertime) the A/C cools down the room and for a while the window/door can remain closed. My room (single) was not big but totally sufficient. It is equipped nicely and practically. The bathroom with white sinks etc. and granite (?) tiles has taste and contributes to a feeling of wellness. Room and bath were specklessly clean. The location requires a 10-minute walk to the centro storico which will be more pleasant when the lakefront reconstruction is completed. From other people lodged in the centro storico I heard that their hotels had mould in the baths and unpleasant smells. With the Engadina I have made a good choice and recommend it fully.

Nice hotel, good location, excellent staff who helped us with everything we needed to know about trains to Milan and tours of Lago Como. However, it was the most expensive hotel we booked in our 4 weeks in Northern Italy and others provided much more value in terms of room size, views, and ambience. Free parking (although limited to 3 spaces) and free internet were very nice benefits.

This hotel is a really an impertinence for travellers. We (little family) get a room with a 'double bed' about 1,20 meter. We are not on the street front but the noise was very loud although the windows are closed. No obligingness of the personal and hotel manager to find a solution. The breakfast was a joke - only Cappu was good. Sorry, I couldn´t recommend this hotel in Como anybody.

Excellent location for the train station, the lake and the town center. We had rooms 222 and 223 which are away from the main street. Definite value here, especially for a short stay. The town of Como is not a long stay place. We came in late by train, roamed the town that night having pizza in an outdoor cafe. Then took our bags down the next morning and checked them at the desk and spent the day in Bellagio (travelling by boat) which was very fun. recommend a similar program. Then picked up a rental car and left that afternoon for Carreno on Lake Maggiore which was also beautiful.

We had an enjoyable three day stay in Hotel Engadina. The room was modest but clean and comfortable and the staff were very courteous. The only 'negative' was that our room fronted onto a busy street and was therefore a little noisy. That said, after each day of exploration we had little problem getting to sleep!

We only stayed one night, but this was a great hotel. This probably isn't the most central hotel, but it is only a 10 minute walk from the main train station and a 10 minute walk to the central part of Como. The receptionist (young lady) was extremely helpful in directing us to the places we wanted to see. She was fluent in english as well. We had read about it being kind of noisy, but we did not experience this problem at all. We had an interior room though. Would definitely recommend to others as well as stay here again.

This is a friendly hotel, very close to Lake Como, the centre of town and the railway station. The rooms are clean, well decorated and air conditioned. There is a busy road at the front of the hotel, but with the windows closed the noise is considerably reduced. The only potential problem could be that the hotel has very little dedicated parking. It made a great base for visiting Monza, Milan, Lake Como and Switzerland.

A good, basic, three star hotel. Do print out a google map in order to find it though as the hotel's version isn't the most detailed. Breakfast is good (coffee, juice, yoghurts, croissants, rolls with condiments) and the location is five minutes walk from the lakeside and centre of Como. It is overpriced, but I think this is symptomatic of Como, rather than this particular hotel.

Good option for one night or lower budget stay. About a 20 minute walk from hotel to lake and downtown (i.e. Piazza Cavour). Clean rooms, clean bathrooms. Excellent latte for breakfast. No internet access. Insider tip: The hotel is close to the train station, but do not try to walk (despite the recommendation of the hotel staff) if you have heavy luggage, as the path from the hotel to the train station is only about 15 minutes but travels across several busy streets, narrow cobble stone sidewalks and includes several flights of steep stairs.

This was a good hotel for the price. The rooms were small, but not a-typical by European standards, and the bathrooms were nice. It's only a couple of blocks from the water and a about a 10 minute walk to the "heart" of Como. The only issue we had was finding the hotel since it's hard to see from the street.

The location of the hotel is excellent! its only a 5 minute walk and your in the heart of Como, and as a single female traveller I found the area to be very safe. My only complaint would be that the rooms are tiny, it was no problem for me because I didn't spend much time in the room but it was a bit of a shock to walk into such a small room! it was very clean though and you get a small cute balcony. Also whilst the breakfast was good, there are only limited tables so if the hotel is full you may have to wait for a table in the morning for breakfast (but annoying if your trying to catch the first ferry to Bellagio!). Overall though, for the price and location it was a very comfortable stay. I would stay there again for sure.

The location was very good for a stay in Como, not in the main hustle, but a 10 minute walk along the water. It was great for me. The only concern I had was for a non-smoking room it did smell quite heavily of smoke. I would use the hotel again.

Our room had a fairly unattractive view (although not horrific). The location of the hotel is OK, although if you arrive at the train station its about a 15 minute walk. Our room had a lot of traffic noise as a main road runs in front of the hotel. I was very plased with this accommodation. It was central to what Como had to offer and to both railway stations. The staff was especially helpful and friendly. Although I was confident in communication in Italian, when I had to ring the airline, which was a little more difficult, the phone call was made for me, willingly and cheerfully. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom well equipped and newly fitted (loved the bath!!)The breakfast was typical continental style - but fine. I would return to this hotel.

I was at this hotel for two nights and had a double bed all though I was alone. The traffic noise is ridiculous. I had asked for a room away from the street but when your alone hotels tend to put you in the worst location. I would highly suggest getting better glass on the rooms facing the street. Breakfast was alright (croissant, buns, orange juice and coffee) I ordered a cafe latte and was presented with a jug of coffee and a jug of milk. I paid 70 euro a night but the price list in the hotel said 60 euro a night. The best part of my stay was the snack bar next door. The woman running it is delightful and the "snack food" tastes pretty good. I would suggest looking elsewhere first and using this hotel as a last resort

Never again!

The hotel seems to be near the Railway Station, but in fact you can either walk, which is not so funny with a suitcase, or take a taxi, unfortunately there is not bus service at all. The hotel is not central, it is on the boundary of the city with quite a lot of traffic. Inside and when windows are closed it has been very well renovated, upgraded actually from a 2 to 3 star hotel.

Our stay at Engadina will be a memorable one. Very clean rooms, staff was cordial, loved our little balcony in one of the two rooms. AC worked well, both rooms were quite, the location of the hotel walking distance to the lake, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was ample and a very tasty capuccino. I highly recommend it if you're to spend your time ourdoors. Free parking was very helpfull, make shure you ask for the Parking Card at the desk. It is not for a resort type of stay. The Engadina is a comfortable walk to Como main centre. On a noisy, busy road, a room away from the street is essential for sleep. The lake and most facilities are nearby, including a good supermarket as eating in Como is expensive.

As always, map provided left something to the imagination - paticularly when walking from the train station for two people in their 70s. Once there the location was an easy walk to almost everything. We tend to use public transportation on all our trips and location is very important to us

I found the hotel matched the information provided perfectly and our stay went well. I havd a group of six students and they found the location of all facilities very good. I would recommend the hotel as a good base for the area.
