My "window" (a view of the inside) was towards the hotel's stairs and I could hear everything from the lobby. Other than that, my stay was good.

Did not specifically check out the hotel web site, its pictures, etc (I already knew the hotel, and first stay others booked it for me). The agent's website revealed a little flaw in the location as indicated on the map.

Very friendly staff, good breakfast. Single room 103 had a window only into the hotel, it was a bit strange not to see the sky ... Room 309 was better, but not very quiet (train, traffic could be heard). Not too far to walk into the centre. Staff gave us very good restaurant tips. All in all, I would recommend the hotel.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We were very comfortable and the hotel met our needs well. It would suit couples, mature travellers and solo people. If you want to party go somewhere else as there is a nice courtyard and if you wanted to use it at night you will disturb people in the rooms facing it. It was very close to the station but the trains were not noisy. There are nice small restaurants and other food shops in the street. It did not have a fridge. The Japanese restaurant a few doors up was good and moderately priced.

This is a 13 room hotel with a very unassuming, almost stealth, street front. Utilitarian lobby and you might wonder what kind of rooms you'll find once inside. But, I was very pleased with my third floor room. Everything seemed newish, not worn, shiny clean. Bathroom was large and bright with new, modern fixtures such as an American style shower. Lots of hot water. Sky TV. Used a LAN connection to access internet with my Apple computer; true hi-speed. The rest of the room was small. Bed was firm, new, not a pillow-top, and I liked it. Walls had fresh paint. Was going to stay one night and transfer to a more central hotel (and thus more expensive), but this hotel had everything I needed at a good low-season price, so I stayed an extra 2 nights. Trains passed nearby, but frankly, the sound was muffled, minimal, and of short duration - this was winter, so windows were kept closed and can't vouch for noise levels during summer stays. Very nice forced air heating, no radiators, kept the room at perfect temps. Not an attractive hotel when seen from the street, and did not have a nice view from the room, but if all you need are the basics (TV, internet, cleanliness, good bed) I would recommend this hotel. Good staff willing to help. A female staffer did not speak English, but the two guys did. Both men were very helpful in providing local guidance.

Stayed in a beautiful large room at the back, very impressed by the service. Breakfast was good, typical Italian faire. Was able to leave my car out front over night, and the management was kind enough to move it to another spot early in the morning so that we don't get a ticket. Very impressed with the size of the rooms. Only noise we heard at night was the occasional short train that rolled by. We didn't find it disturbing, but others may - however it was very short in duration and we only heard it a few times.

We stayed for two nights and appreciated the proximity to the train station. However, not having a car we found it difficult to get accurate information about local buses.

Walking distance to the station, and to the waterfront. An unassuming "shop-front" hotel, the Borgovico was absolutely spotless and wonderfully quiet, with a good selection at breakfast. My single room did not skimp on space, and the ensuite bathroom was a delight. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room overlooked a noisy, busy through-road, but hotel was close to railway station and within easy walking distance of town centre.

Very pleasant stay. Room not as large as expected for a superior and a little on the dark side. Lovely continental breakfast buffet. Relaxed atmosphere.

Very close to the station and very easy to look for. Breakfast is basic, like normal italian breakfast, but good quality. Receptionist very helpfull and good with english. There are a lot of good reasonably priced restaurants around. The hotel surroundings are a bit quiet at night.

Our stay at the Borgovico was wonderful! The hotel staff (specifically Fausto) was helpful, friendly and very responsive. The guest room we stayed in was near the train but it was very, very quiet! The challenges with the hotel are zero parking and no food service, but there are a tremendous number of restaurants and pizzerias within walking distance - some within yards. I would recommend the hotel devise a map they can provide weary travelers directing them to parking areas as well as provide those rates; when we arrived there were several couples struggling to find parking and the hotel staff could not make a recommendation - that was slightly frustrating especially after a long day of travel. Once we figured out the parking we had a fabulous time - we loved Como and enjoyed the hotel very much.

Position on the map is far away from the reality! However, indeed close to the train station (used by Trenitalia, from Milano Centrale) and the centre of the city. Nice elegant hotel though easy to be missed if you don't pay attention. Good quality overall - although a bit expensive. lOCATION OF THE hOTEL ON THE MAP PROVIDED has to be reviewed - THIS IS A MUST!

Beware that its location is not as indicated on the map! But it is only a short walk to the city centre and lakeside, and there are good restaurants close by in the same street. No complaints about the service and facilities provided.

The hotel's in a small street near the lake and St Giovanni train station. It has very nice and clean rooms. The employees prefer to speak italian, but it fits better to the lovely italian atmosphere anyway. Their fresh croissants and their morning cappuccino were the perfect beginnings of those wonderful sunny days by the lake. I recommend this hotel to everyone and I'd return there anytime.

Very nice receptionist, helpfull and warm welcome to all customers. Friendly to foreigners and giving good services of places to visit nearby. Really impressed and hope to go back to the nice and cosy place like Borgo Vico. Landmarks in Como close to Hotel Borgovico: Lake Como, Piers to Bellagio. Nice Italian restaurant 1 block nearby the hotel. Nice Spanish restuarant opposite to hotel.

Lovely rooms, friendly and helpful staff. On a fairly busy street, especially in the morning, so a little noisy. But probably fairly normal for Italy.

I would like to thnak the lovely ladies who front this hotel - they mad me very welcome and their level of service was very good. Good location in that it is near the main station and easy walk to the lake and centre of Como. Would re-visit this one!

I have been to Como 3 times, but this was the first time I stayed in a hotel there. Borgovico was a pleasant hotel, but the road it faces is very noisy. Request a room in the back of the hotel. It is a 10-minute walk to the lake and center of town, but very close to Station San Giovanni. If you are arriving from Milan Malpensa, you will arrive via train to Station du Nord, on the other side of town, which is a very long walk with luggage (our experience).

The room was clean and spacious. Nice TV with excellent reception. The bathroom was large and modern. I liked that the hotel was away from the bustle of the main streets. It was a short walk to the lake. The hotel was below the train tracks but not that many trains went by at night. It was necessary to take a taxi from the train station because the hotel was a bit of a steep walk down if you had luggage. A wonderful find!

Nice small hotel. Recently renovated. Bathrooms are very clean !! Not that expensive for the area. Excellent breakfast. Only negative point is that single bedrooms don't have a real window (quite but a little air would be appreciated!)

Lots of noise from trains, yet a long walk from the station. Not very near the boat docks either. Better to get something located near the boats. Hotel is new and I don't think they have worked out all the details yet. Best rooms do not have elevator access. Room with loft is OK, but the loft is not very useful - has sofa, not bed, inconvenient light, not very clean, etc. Big room needs more furniture also. You can do better for your money.
