Beautiful modern hotel located in the middle of a very quiet and rather weird locale (police headquarters, Deutsche Post and banks offices in the next building), with 5 (or less) min walk to the Kolner Dom and railway station and Starbucks. The staff is friendly; we had a unusual late-night drugstore-related situation and the guy at the reception was more than helpful in finding out the drugstore that is open after the daytime. The small negative part: they don't give you kettle by default; had to ask for it specifically. But next time in Cologne this hotel will be our family's first choice.

This is an excellent hotel. We had been to Cologne two years ago, and stayed in a hotel that was pretty rough, so we really searched this one out. It is just 2-300 metres from the Dom and is in a quiet location though opposite the Deutsche Post Office. The rooms were silent, the staff were polite, and efficient, even to the room cleaners that said Guten Morgen every day. We did not eat in the hotel, as the markets are close by, but the restaurant/bar area appeared to be as good. The hotel, especially the rooms, was spotlessly clean with crisp white bedding. The bathroom was like an operating theatre and even the chrome fittings were polished. My only slight niggle was that we found the A/C in the rooms uncontrollable and was set at 22C, which was a little warm for us. We opened the window though and that brought the temperature down, at the expense of sacrificing the silence. I would have no hesitation in staying here again, and would definately recommend this to all that are looking for a central place to stay. It wasn't cheap, especially with the Euro as it is against the Pound at the time, but it was well worth it. I hope this helps someone.
