We were very happy at the Domstern. The hotel staff/owner were very friendly and helpful and full of advice and knowledge. We loved the room , there was plenty of space to relax and it was very quiet and clean. The breakfast was excellent, we loved the home made yogurt and home baked bread ,there was excellent choice and plenty of food .We only spend one night in the Domster, but we could have easily stayed longer and we hopefully will come again some time soon. We went to the other the sister hotel Stern am Rathaus for lunch and it was great, the food was delicious, compliments to the cook! We were offered a %10 dicount for our lunch, since we stayed at the Domstern, and that was a very nice touch. The staff at the Stern am Rathaus were lovely too, they helped us with printing our boarding passes and checking in for our flights back to London. We even got to buy two Koelsch glasses from the bar, for nearly nothing, which are now a nice memory of our short trip :-) We would definitely recommend the Domstern, and maybe we would also consider staying in the Stern am Rathaus, both places have our thumbs up.

We enjoyed our stay at the Domstern and would definitely return if we were in Cologne again. Room was small, but generally clean and quiet and included free wi-fi. The highlight of the stay was the excellent service from hotel staff e.g. recommending local restaurants, providing free takeaway coffee etc.

This is such a great hotel. We had four nights here. It's very close to the station and the city centre. The breakfasts are wonderful and varied - themed using different nationalities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Worth also visiting the cafe run by the same people. It's advertised in the hotel and we had a delicious meal there, with again helpful and friendly staff.

The hotel is near by the train central station (5 minutes by foot) and the Cathedral(10 minutes); it is small, located in a quite street. The staff is really friendly and always available to help you! You found the room clean and quite spacious. There was a huge variety for the breakfast, different each morning. We strongly recommend it!

Very conviniently located. Staff was great, very willing and ready to help. The breakfast service was wonderful. They even had a small newspaper for the morning with weather info, what to do, and the food was as if you were home, or in my case even better.

The important things: breakfast and quality of sleep on comfortable bed in quiet room at back of hotel were excellent. Breakfast included home-made yoghurt, butter, cream cheese and a great choice of hot and cold things with excellent coffee (machine). The hosts were very friendly and helpful. However they were not prepared for my prior request for gluten-free bread, though this then arrived almost in time! The room was a bit small and had no wardrobe, but it was good enough for a 3-day stay.

Excellent hotel and very helpful staff. The breakfast was lovely and there was lots of choice. Close to the rail station so very easy to get to and pretty much central to all attractions. Would definitely stay there again.

Excellent service, helpful and friendly staff. The hotel made Cologne information mini-booklet at breakfast was really great and there were lots of nice touches such as the free coffee. The guide available to buy for a short trip helped us get the best out of a short visit. The free wifi was an added bonus. The home made touches at breakfast made it as good as the reviews said. All in all a little gem.

My Partner and I travelled to Cologne for the 1st time and stayed at the Domstern. We were very happy at this hotel and enjoyed our stay. Location, room, breakfast, service and welcome were all excellent. I loved all the extra's, they make such a difference. For 3* I thought it gave good value for money. Only small faults were 1) we were at the front of the hotel and with the window open it was noisy late at night and early in the morning and 2) there is a lot of construction work going on around the Hotel, but of course this is out of the Domstern's control.

I arrived in Koln about 8pm. The directions to the hotel were very easy to follow, and only about 5 minutes walk from the train station on a quiet side street. The breakfast buffet was very nice, and apparently each morning, they vary the selection based on a theme country....England, Switzerland, etc. A very nice touch was the little brochure on the table with the day's weather forecast and recommendations for the day's activities, any special goings-on, etc. As a single traveler, I don't expect a spacious room, but my room was a bit on the small side. When I checked in, the desk clerk gave me a map and overview of various sights in the city, and several dinner recommendations as well. He was very helpful.

The hotel is close to both the station and the cathedral, which is good, but it's on a street that's nothing special, with traffic and many other small hotels. The staff are very helpful (e.g. at advising where to go for supper, at giving instructions to taxi drivers...), but there isn't anyone on the desk late at night. On the Saturday when I was there, they said they would be going home at about nine, but they gave me a key. The room was maybe a bit small, but it was clean and I slept well. Breakfast (which you have in a small room at the back) was good.
