Buchholz Downtown Hotel - Cologne

Nice room, though the bathroom is tiny. Breakfast was very nice, and the staff was always helpful and accommodating. Everyone spoke good English, which as a plus, since none of us really spoke any German.

The hotel is close to the Hauptbahnhof and city centre, but in a quiet street. The hotel had mistakenly reserved a single room for us but this was immediately rectified. Our room was spacious and clean, overlooking quiet courtyards. It is a family-run hotel and it was nice to meet the owner's wife (who comes from south Wales, close to where we live), and son (who speaks perfect English).

Mrs. Buchholz was very nice. We spent some time in the bar area and it was very nice with a small outdoor courtyard that was enclosed and provided my guest safe, comfortable smoking opportunity. Would definitely stay here again. I normally stay on the otherside of the train station as it is closer to activities, but this location was close enough.

Clean, neat rooms,fabulous service, fantastic breakfast, very nice atmosphere and helpful and friendly staff , they go the extra mile to accomodate you. Rooms are clean and tidy and very small. I mean small .:) Accessable location, near Cologne Dom square and the train station. I would definitely go back.It was a great experience , and would be even better if US dollar wasn't in such a decline. :)

I have stayed in this hotel only one night. The rooms in this hotel are not matching with the pictures on the site. 1 single room was very narrow so I changed it to 1 double room which was ok. The staff is very competent and hospital. The absence of laundry services is minus.

Free parking at the hotel entrance. Good breakfast. Aceptable room. Good location near the Dom, but you must go by near the train station.

A small hotel a very short walk from the railway station offering a particularly warm reception and old fashioned Welsh hospitality from the matriarch of the house. Smallish rooms. For us, the breakfasts were a particular strength and the free internet access was an unexpected but very welcome bonus.

Nice hotel. Some Demolition going on around it. Breakfast was good but need to cover food up when flies around and change table covers between different diners arriving. Room was very nice. Very pleasant staff. A good location.

I loved this hotel. The service there was great, and I thought the room was beautiful. The photos on the website underrepresent the rooms, I think. The location is about a 5 minute walk behind the train station. The immediate surroundings aren't spectacular, but it's just a few minutes walk to the center of town. The hotel was a little above our ideal budget, but we stayed there during the World Cup, so it was expected. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This is a very good hotel! close to the center of koln, very clean very good rooms (my double room was quite big with also a dinig-zone, but the other room i had book was not so big...you have to be lucky!) Good breakfast...i totally reccomend it! E' un hotel piccolo ma molto confortevole le camere sono arredate benissimo e anche la zona colazione è molto carina, posizione ottima per duomo e stazione, da consigliare totalmente!

It is more and more rare to find 3 star hotels privately owned and ran. SO it was a plasure to stay atthis neat hotel. My room could have been larger for the rate I paid and frankly the bathroom was too small.

Very nice hotel, honest price, well located, good service, agreable breakfast, ideal for short stays. Not enough quiet for long stays, a lot of stairs unavoidable.

We were quite impressed with the Buchholz. It was quiet yet close to everything we wanted to see. Our only regret is that we had only allowed for a one night stay...we could have stayed longer! Very enjoyable and delivered what it promised.
