Overnight stop on way back to England from Italy.Very nice Hotel and friendly staff...arrived at 2130 and phoned ahead to say would be there at that time and slightly dissapointed that only one choice for a meal. However we were fed and food was good quality. Drinks in the bar a l;ittle expensive so ask the prices. Overall would go back and stay longer.Rooms very clean and tidy. Garden and Restaurant very good. Good quality breakfast. No copmplaionts at all

The bathroom sink was very small, and the glass-shelf was right above it (=very unpractical). There should have been a mini-bar or refridgerator in the room. We were 2 adults and 2 children. The room had an average size. Overall opinion: Quiet and beautiful neighbourhood. For Colmar you have to use your car. The restaurant was good, and had an OK variety of different dishes.

Staff were efficient and welcoming. Double room was clean and cleaned daily.Setting was in very small village but ideal for our two day drive stop-over in the area. Restaurant was a bonus given no nearby eating places.

Hotel location is NOT in Colmar, it is in the nearby village of Bischwihr. This needs to be better articulated on the webpage.

The hotel was for the price allright. Yet there was no shower curtain in the bathroom, so with 3 people we had a nice overflow. also the breakfast was not to well organized. we had to stand in long qeue, first for coffee-it took a while- and then for the rest. Food quality and presentation was excellent!

This hotel is located in a suburb to the west of Colmar. There are no restaurants or stores close to the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel has excellent Alsatian food but there is no easy alternative available. Note that there is no elevator available and no air conditioning.

A great little hotel with superb food. We would definitely stay there again. Nice garden - if time and capacity allows, it would be great if dinner and/or breakfast could be served there.

Beds uncomfortable (too soft)and one pillow per bed? not too comfortable.

The hotel is quite remote from anywhere in Alsace and quite some distance from Colmar. The descriptions suggest it is only a short distance but it is actually 4 or 5 miles outside Colmar in the middle of a bunch of farms/bedroom community. If you are visiting wine the country or looking for a historical experience this is NOT the place to stay, but the price is fair for what you get.

Nous sommes très contents de cet hôtel dans lequel nous sommes restés une nuit. Nous avons également apprécié le restaurant le soir; très bonne cuisine.

Very good acommodation in a quiet location, a little bit outside the main areas so you need a car or to catch a taxi. No big fun areas around. Rooms had a good space and price is adjusted to quality expected. parking might be an issue on weekends. Overall recommend for anyone looking for a nice cheap hotel.

This hotel has a lovely charm to it. The welcome was very friendly and they spoke excellent English. Fabulous food but the room needed a revamp, damp was starting to show on the ceiling - not a good advert - although the rest of the room was clean. The wardrobe was also very shabby. A great place to stay for a one night stop over and an axcellent location.

Hotel Relais du Ried is an excellent deal for travelers who wish to visit the French/German Rhine area, the Alsatian wine country in particular. Though requiring a car, the location is ideal in a small, quiet village, not far at all from the highway to Strasbourg or Freiburg. Parking is free and quite available. The staff is very professional and the hotel offers a nice restaurant with a very good menu for dinner, inside, or in the garden. You probably will skip breakfast, which at 8 euro per person is a bit expensive. My room was just a bit small as well, but so quiet and very clean. This was an excellent deal (55 euro per night) and given the evening calm, restaurant, cleanliness and proximity to the wine country (about 20mn by car), I would go back in a heartbeat.

I liked the young manager/owner of the hotel, he is dynamic, hard working and seems to have understood the basic principle of Team building. As result his hotel is well managed with friendly employee caring about the customers. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast served with smiles and advice.

Alles in allem in Ordnung!

A very pleasant Hotel - nothing outstanding but totally adequate at the price - we also ate in several evenings and found the food very good value - in fact were dissapointed one evening as the restaurant was closed - a nice back garden and in the coutry so very quiet and pleasant

Overall we were pleased with our 11 night stay our only comments are that breakfast was very uninteresting, perhaps an egg or wurst or something just to make things different would have been nice. The bed was not the best we have slept on and the light switches were against the head of the bed and consequently when we went to sit up in bed to watch television we would accidently turn the lights off and on.

Quiet and beautiful place. Not so easy to reach from Colmar, there aren't road signs for Bishwihr in the city. Comfortable point of departure to visit all the Alsace region, and the Schwarzwald as well, for its central position.

Almost drove past the hotel as the photo on the website shows the back of the hotel and not the front! Great place for kids as there is a big garden with a trampoline, play house, swings and small slide.

I realize there were (rare) high temperatures in France during our visit. However, the hotel really needs to have fans available for guests. Manager could have extended a bit more hospitality to non-French speaking guests to better aquaint us with the area. I was really disappointed that bicycles were not available as described in the printout.

We found the manager extremely helpful and more than willing to oblige - even to giving us instructions to a really good bar in one of the local villages! He always greeted us with a smile, and willingly put our freezer blocks in the freezer every night. The only real criticism we can make is that we were obliged to go and buy a fan, as there was no'clim' in our room, and the week we stayed was extremely hot! As we were on the ground floor, and our room looked out onto the parking area, we were woken rather early in the mornings, and were obliged to keep the blinds closed in order to have any privacy, but otherwise the hotel was relatively quiet, and extremely good value for money.(Especially the 12-euros-for-as-much-Flammenkuche-as-you-can-eat-evening!)We'd definitely recommend it, and would use the hotel again.

This was a very nice hotel in close proximity to Colmar. It was on the outskirts of Bischwihr and didn't have much of anything within walking distance. The gentleman checking us in was very pleasant and fluent in English. My only issue is that it was advertised and booked as a B&B with breakfast included, but I was charged additional for breakfast.

We would have appreciated knowing just how far this hotel actually was from Colmar We arrived on a Sunday and there was a note with our key and we didn't see another person until the next morning. There was a very big event that caused traffic problems in getting into Colmar. If there had been a staff person there they could have given us a second way to get into Colmar. The room was also very warm and there wasn't anything we could do about it.

This was close to the end of our month long vacation and from the picture and description I had I was excited to get to this place. Well We were very disappointed. So much so I just couldn't get past it. The price quoted was great but from the picture I was looking for a little b&b in the country. There was nothing interesting about the hotel or the area. People not nice or helpful. Room average and no shower curtain so water goes everywhere and soaks everything. This was my only real disappointment the whole trip.

Great stopping place near to Colmar and French German or Swiss Border. Not much in the way of local colour but near to Colmar. Ideal for families and couples. Rooms being re-furbished bring them into the 21st century. Rooms small but better than Campanile

The reception was not occupied on arriving in the late afternoon, so we had to wait nearly one hour to get our rooms. Beside that everything was o.K.

This hotel is well outside of Colmar and would only suit those tourists with cars, parking is therefore good. There is very little to see in the immediate neighbourhood and Birchwihr is not exactly easy to find unless you are a local. Although the hotel was not full at the time we were offered a small, stuffy room upstairs as the manager thought that we, as Australians, would be noisy backpackers. However, when we requested a better, larger room on the ground floor we were granted this. Breakfast offerings were sparse, but the dinners offered were great, what we would expect in France. The common area in the front of the hotel seemed to be the domain of the manager's children, whilst the back garden area, although very nice did not always seem accessible to the guests.

this hotel is very cheap, near colmar. the breakfast' s price is only 6 euros. tre staff is very kind.the restaurant inside should be a good thing but they cook only barbecue "until you want eat" twice in a week. Please choose non smocking room!!!! It's a good hotel: very simple and CHEAP

The front desk personnel were excellent. The person I believe was the front desk manager, or the owner, was fluent in French (obviously), English, and German. They had a beautiful garden, and for the price, you can't go wrong. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice friendly hotel, good value for money. Our host was very helpful and pleased to share his obvious pride in his region. Our enjoyment of the reading area was somewhat marred by it`s also being the smoking area - but I suppose they have to do it somewhere. We`ll put in on our list of `places to keep in mind`.

This is an average and quite hotel, the owner is very kind and always ready to help you. The place is very relaxing, not far from the black forest, nor from Colmar. Where they still have to get better is with the room cleaning service. The restaurant is a basic one, you have a basic quality fixed menu. Breakfast not worth the price. N.B: VENERE.COM, the maps and the address are ok on the web site, BUT in the confirmation email you write Grand Rue, Colmar. That's not right, the hotel is in Grand Rue, bat in Bischwihr, not Colmar. Colmar's Grand Rue is a central street, where you cannot even go by car.
