Eguiseheim is the most charming of all the Alsation villages, with flowers tumbling out of every window. The smell of the grape greets you when you first arrive, and the smell of the little bakery (with free samples) around the corner from the hotel greets you every morning. There are excellent restaurants (all within easy walking distance). Lots of tourists/ groups visit by day, but by late afternoon, you pretty much have the place to yourself. And it's an easy drive to larger towns (Colmar, Straussbourg, Freiburg). The Tourist Information office around the corner is very helpful, and provides lots of free maps and directions. And Jerome (owner/front desk) offers excellent restaurant suggestions. (The escargot at the little "Restaurant de 3 Chateau" is the best ever!!) Smack dab in the the center of this little piece of heaven is the Hostellerie. We stayed for 3 nights in September in a large and airy room overlooking the beautiful town courtyard/fountain. Our windows opened onto the courtyard on one side, and a quiet street/restaurant on the other. The lobby and public spaces of the hotel had a contemporary/trendy feel, but the room was pure Alsatian, with beautiful red and yellow tile floors and wood trim. We stayed in a Chambre Superieure (advertised as for 1-2 people). Plenty of room for two, comfy bed and large bathroom, with a wonderful soaking tub and shower, toilet and bidet. A small mini-bar/refrigerator is in the room, and a lovely breakfast is served each morning consisting of cheeses, ham, breads and croissants. The hotel doors are locked in the evening, and you let yourself in with your large metal key. The town is cozy and safe, and it's very comfortable to stay out and return on your own No elevator, but there are first floor rooms available for folks who prefer. A lovely and comfortable "home base" from which to explore Alsace!

Great spot overlooking main square. I think we benefited from being upgraded but all romms looked to be of a similar standard. The owner could not have been more helpful and gave some great restaurant recommendations

We had a wonderful stay here in June 2010. The staff was most helpful, the room was very comfortable, and the location was right on the town square. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Excellent hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. Great location and a beautiful village. Highly recommened. We were visiting the area to tour the Route de Vin and were very impressed. The area is definitely a priority area to visit and the Hostellerie du Chateau is the place to stay.

Fantastic village, like a flim set and the hotel was excellent, with the manager providing lots of helpful information and leaflets. The hotel could not be more central and was peaceful

A small hotel in a pictureque village. The reception was as warm and as friendly as any I have ever experienced at a Hotel. I think the gentlman at the reception was also the owner, who also came out to my car to help bring in our bags. He showed us three rooms and let us pick which room we wanted. Very pleasant stay. A small village with convenient access to Colmar but worth a day in its own right. Only negative was thin room doors that normal conversations could be heard through in the lobby. But the lobby was normally very quiet.

Located right on the main square of Eguisheim which is the focal point of this quaint town. Could get noisy during town events, but that was perfect for us because we wanted to be immersed. Very comfortable. Recently remodeled and very clean. Great town to visit, and short drive to Colmar and Freiburg and Kaiserstuhl wine area.

The hotel itself is very nice, the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The bathroom was modern, spacious and clean, but the bedroom was very small and uncomfortable. It was extremely hot, there wasn't even a fan in the room. Perhaps in cooler weather or with a larger room, it would have been more comfortable. The town of Eguisheim is lovely. I would love to spend more time exploring the Alsace wine route.

Beautifully appointed and maintained. The hotel staff and proprietors were welcoming and helpful. Our room was large and comfortable. Our only complaint is that 11 Euros per person for breakfast seemed rather steep. Guests are not required to take the breakfast, however, and there are other breakfast spots in Eguisheim. A very, very positive experience. We would definitely stay there again!

We have spent 6 days at "Hostellerie du Chateau". This is a charming hotel located in the heart of a fairy tale village. Very quiet, big rooms, huge bathrooms, perfect decor, perfect service, what more can I say ? It's also in the perfect location from where you can fully explore Alsace (5 km from Colmar). Try to spend at least a few days if you can.

Nice charming hotel but quite noisy (they don't have double-glazing windows) and, as the hotel il quite small, breakfast is somewhat limited. Quite nice otherwise.

Very nice stay, for one evening, in Eguisheim for this family of 4 (inc. two young children) in the very picturesque village. The Manager, Mr.W. seemed to do all on his own, and what a very nice job he did to. Would very much recommend a visit and stay here.

The hotel has been completely renovated so that all rooms are modern and spacious. Yet, the outside of the building dates from the 1600s. The town is which the hotel is located is truly special and worth going out of your way to stay a night or two. It looks straight out of a fairy tale and on of the prettiest towns I have ever seen.

We stayed for 3 days from october 14th till october 16th together with 4 friends. We all had a great time in this little town. The accomodation was excellent! Don't forget to taste the great wines of Eguisheim. The taste is great and even if you drink a lot of it, you still don't get a headache the next morning!!! If you want to have diner in one of the restaurants in Equisheim; don't forget to make reservations.
