This is a great place in a quaint town but you NEED a car. I thought I was booking a place in Asti... But like my review said, the rooms were great, the hotel is super cool and the owners wonderful, sweet and welcoming with a great boxer dog as a mascot and roaming fluffy cat who refused to come in my room even though I wanted her too very badly as I missed my own animals terribly. The food they serve is excellent as well and towns people very nice. Definitely an out of the way place!

I took a cheaper room to save some costs in a month long trip in Italy. The view took me back as it was so breath taking as I opened the window in the morning. The husband and wife team who operate this inn were the epitomy of professionalism in the hospitality and the food (the husband was the chef) was the best I had in Italy. The incredible underrated wines wines of Piedmonte added to the food experience and the medieval town of Cocconato is a wonderful place to retreat from it all. I can see how Locanta Martelletti came so highly rated. I want to go back! Take a GPS with up to date maps.

Our stay at Martelletti was delightful. Everything was perfect, from the beautiful setting and large rooms to the excellent food (I only wish I could have eaten more!) to the gracious service. I highly recommend staying at Martelletti--I do wish we could have stayed longer, but for our agenda we needed to move on.

I highly recommend this place. The hotel is in a small hill town, very traditional and atmospheric, typically italian with a couple of bars and restaurants at the junction where the (single track one way) road into the "Centro Storico" meets the main road. You won't need the outside restaurants unless you're on a really tight budget, the food and wine in the hotel is superb, and the service is to match. The hotel itself is quite quirky, arranged over three levels and is full of old features. This is very good value for money, the accommodation is very well appointed and spacious, I've already mentioned the food and wine and the staff/management are attentive and helpful, Luigi offered to park my car for me when I arrived hot and flustered! The only minor flaw is that the signage to the hotel ran out when you got to the town, there's one sign on the way in but after that you have to ask. If you get to the junction/piazza with the bar take the road uphill into the older bit of town and you can't miss it.

I cannot say enough nice things about Locanda Martelletti. My husband and I made a last minute decision to go into the Piemonte for the weekend. Staying in quaint small towns is our preference. We were not disappointed. The suites are large and well appointed. The bathrooms are also spacious and modern. The view is breathtaking. Breakfast was very good (make sure you have some of Luigi's eggs.) Marta and Luigi rounded out the stay as one of the best we have ever had. Luigi is an excellent chef. Marta did a great job pairing wines to our meals. I would strongly suggest eating at least one meal at the restaurant during your stay. Being dog lovers, we also enjoyed playing with and scratching their big, friendly, lovable dog, Barri. Travel around the Piemonte is easy and enjoyable. I would suggest this small, comfortable, intimate hotel to anyone who is going to be in the area.

I absolutely love this place. We only had 2 nights here, but I didn't want to leave. The staff was fantastic, the room we had was just as unbelievable as the rest of the hotel, and the food and wine were perfect. We must have had an upgrade versus our friends - their room was more basic with an average ceiling and an interior doorway. Our room was off an open hallway with large vaulted ceilings. The rest of the hotel was like a maze - each room was more interesting than the next. The owners were so kind and welcoming. I felt like I was staying with friends instead of staying in a hotel. I can't say enough about this place. I just can't wait to go back.

An absolute gem of a hotel. Lovely big cool clean rooms. Very welcoming and friendly staff. The food was a revelation, instead of seeing a menu I asked to be surprised by the local cuisine and produce - it was a wise choice and was out of this world. The hotel itself was as intriguing as the village, a wonderful break from the normal and so relaxing, you can feel the history and heriatge oozing from the walls. The view from the sun terrace looking down to Genoa is breathtaking, on a clear day you can see all the way to the Apennines. I have saved the hotel as a favourite and will definitely be calling in again next year. To sum up - A wonderful experience.

This was the best place we stayed in our 17 day trip. We loved the place and the owners. It was even worth the trouble finding it! The food and wine were outstanding.

This place is one of the best kept secrets. A friend and I booked this for a last minute trip to the Torino Olympics and hoped for the best at the price we were getting. We were absolutely amazed at what we got and the people who made our stay so pleasant. Cocconato, the town the hotel is in, is a great little countryside location. In the square are a couple great cafes and bars. The hotel is built around the remains of a castle even though you cannot tell on the outside. Once inside, stone walled passageways lead you to your room. Suites are spacious with modern ammenities and an antique feel; very pleasantly decorated. Breakfast is a typical European breakfast with boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, breads and cereals, but was always very good. Excellent fresh juices in the morning. Dinner, not included in the price, was a spectacular, somewhat Tuscan 4-5 course meal. Formal taste and presentation without being so formal. The hotel has a huge wine cellar and selection, and my friend and I left with about 30 bottles of local wines when we left. The single middle rating I gave is solely due to a church bell that would wake me before I was ready. My friend could sleep through it, but I am a light sleeper. Overall, Martaletti's scores very highly. Great people, great atmosphere and exceeds expectations.
