Hotel San Giorgio - Civitavecchia

The hotel was clean, the staff professional ,and the breakfast was outstanding The room was small by standards but adequate for our overnight stay and very close to the train station My primary complaint was that the entire area in front of the hotel "beach front " was under a massive municipal reconstruction project making any access to the ocean difficult if not relatively impossible. When I originally asked the person who received us said he had not been there in over a year and was not sure of where entry could be obtained through the various construction fences. Since I had planned to come in early the day before our cruise and relax at the " waterfront" location this was not exactly what I bargained on The hotel did not even have it's own exterior patio to lounge at. There were lots of nearby restaurants to explore so we opted not to eat at the hotel and actually were quite impressed by some of the local fare. I can not really blame the hotel for this reconstruction and I am sure when it is completed the new boardwalk and frontage will be a positive addition to this property but until then it's just a very clean place to overnight

Really enjoyed the stay at San Giorgio, The staff were wonderful, they were cheerful and helpful. Also the restaurant served lovely meals. The location is great being close to the port. If I need to go to Civitavecchia again I will definately be staying at this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel the night before our cruise on the Carnival Splendor. The room was very nice with a loft bedroom. Being a loft it was difficult to cool the bedroom area and not freeze the lower floor. We had a problem with the "Minibar" items as they were not IN the minibar and with no information as to their availability or cost. When we checked out we were told there was a 9 euro cost for the 2 bags of chips. We also had a problem with the quoted cost of the room. They tried to charge us 240 euros for the room and when I produced our confirmation showing a 200 euro price they lowered the price. So becareful and make sure you take your confirmation paper with you if you stay at this hotel. If you are on a cruise you will neeed to purchase transportation to the ship boarding are. It is quite a distance. After being there I would choose a different hotel that has a free shuttle to the ship boarding area instead of the San Giorgio hotel.

We chose to stay in this hotel the night prior to a flight from Rome. We booked the hotel because it was "on the beach" and listed a private beach and lounges on it's website as amenities of the hotel. ALL UNTRUE! Yes...across the street there is a "beach" however, it is littered with garbage and is only rock. Upon asking about the "private" beach, we were told that there is none. We also had on our confirmation from Venere a check-out time of 12 noon, however, we were told that the hotel check-out time is 10 a.m. and we could pay a large additional fee if we needed to check out later. After showing our documentation, we were begrudingly told that we could check out at noon the next day. The following morning, we were hassled and treated very rudely by reception about checking out past 10 even though we had been approved to our check-out time the day prior. Overall, we found this experience very frustrating and would never stay here again. The booking through Venere was wonderful, but the hotel....AWFUL!!!

Nice hotel and competent personnel but two teams of volleyball players were staying at the hotel and made terrible noise all nights long. You don´t expect that type of disturbance in a four star hotel and this destroyed our holiday relaxation. We returned home even more tired than before the holidays.

It was a fantastic hotel when it first opened. Now the price is too high but the hotel is too good to be cheap, I guess. The perfect overnight for catching a Civitavecchia cruise. Comfortable and near the cruise Port gate. The town has little to offer but you're only there for a cruise anyway. It's also about 1/4 mile (walkable) from the train station. Every cruise from Civitavecchia, I start with a night here.

Was surprised to find our room had a sitting room and bath downstairs and bedroom upstairs, but it was quiet and clean. Breakfast was good and ample.
