Hotel Il Patriarca - Chiusi

How can I rate this palace with only a scale of 1 - 10? I wanted to rate it at least 20 out of 10 in my books!! It was a dream to stay there!! It was a palace to enjoy it's divine surroundings!! The staff were impeccable!! Our room was superb, the breakfast was like no other, the pool was totally divine overlooking the tree nursery far below like a painting!! Can you get an impression of our enjoyment of our stay - it was the pinnacle of our 4 week journey in Italy! We didn't let the modern encroachment take anything away from our dream of a villa in Tuscany. True, there is a shopping mall just down the hill - handy for laundry, groceries and bankomat - but it, and other modern buildings, were out of sight behind the lovely cypress and pine trees cradling our villa! The highway is nearby, which makes it handy, but not close enough to mar the birdsong in the garden! It is centrally located and old Chiusi is chocked full of Etruscan sights and a great little museum, even a famous cistern. A superb choice for us, quiet in October as many places are, but the staff were no less attentive, efficient and helpful when we were almost on our own as guests.

It is settled in an awsome Tuscany landscape; A pity that the villa is a bit close to the road, but the grounds are very big and the view on the back of the villa is on beautiful hills. The swimming pool, in the garden on the back, is beautiful. Our room was Tuscany traditional decoration in the 19th century part of the villa. Nice and spacious. The main restaurant was closed when we were there (closed on Mon and Tue), so we dined in the tavern,the other restaurant. The food was good but the waiters were not very professional. The hotel staff on the other hand, is extremely nice, professiona and welcoming. Excellent price-quality ratio for our stay: I highly recommend this hotel.

Although the hotel was good value..the main restaurant is ridiculously expensive, with staff who are very welcoming but not up to the standard of finesse required for a 250 Euro restaurant!The second restaurant is cheaper but has no ambience. The pool area is delightful,but theres is no poolside service and no showers. Overall the hotel is very comfortable and the staff are most helpful. I can recommend it.

Villa Il Patriarcha is a surprising gem of a hotel. We've stayed in hotels across Italy over many years and this ranks as one of the best. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were sizeable, the pool with its views over the Tuscan hills is wonderful. And the restaurant, although expensive, is superb. We'll be back!

Great old hotel, recently renovated, beautiful views of Southern Tuscany, nice restaurant.

Breakfast services should be better.

Though alittle hard to find(even the local gas station attendant guessed what hotel were looking for), it was worth the effort. Very nice and had a warm, homey feel to it and yet had modern conveniences in the room. Actual queen bed and not two twins pushed together. Only real complaint was though the bath is large, the shower stall in narrow. Overall the best hotel of the four we stayed at while in Venice, Tuscany (Chiusi), Cinque Terre and Rome.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Set away from the road, it's like being in your own villa. The restaurant is subperb!

The property was great just hard to find without exact directions. Would highly reccommend to anyone who likes small charming hotels!

Everything excellent. We´ll book it again.
