Chiavari is really a charming, picturesque Ligurian town,good starting point for visiting Cinque Terre,Portofino,S.Margherita L.,Sestri Levante. The location of Santa Maria is very close to the raiway line,in this connection the quietness of rooms is poor.

Il personale del ristorante interno all'apparenza è cordiale e gentile, ma se si vuole cenare mezz'ora prima della chiusura della cucina, storcono il naso e oltre a offrirti la metà del menù cominciano a togliere le portate a buffet e ad apparecchiare per la mattina successiva mettendoti così un'ansia pazzesca!!! Altra nota: il pasto non consumato si paga comunque!!! P.s. una parte dell'hotel si affaccia sulla ferrovia ed ogni venti minuti transita un treno!!

A simple small hotel. Lacks somewhat in charm and character and can feel a little bit like a Travelodge with the rather garish bedding and curtains. No air conditioning so can get very hot at night and its location on a main road to the front and railway line to the rear means opening the windows is not really an option. Staff are friendly and competent. However, it's a good base for discovering Chiavari and the Italian Riviera and for families it's ideally situated opposite the Esperia Beach and Lido. In terms of cost it feels a little over priced for the room rate when compared with other hotels in the town as neither the food (we only had breakfast) nor the service or facilities excel.
