The Auberge du Bon Laboureur is a charming inn located just a stone's throw from the Chateau of Chenonceau, the most gracious castle in the whole Loire Valley, and a former Post House whose foundations date back to 1786.
The property still retains its erstwhile atmosphere. It is composed of five charming old village houses, surrounded by the gardens, that have been fully restored and refurnished to provide the finest comfort.
The hotel features very comfortable rooms and apartments, pleasant lounges, an outdoor swimming pool and a fine, highly-reputed gastronomic restaurant.

Hotel Reviews Le Bon Laboureur

We loved this hotel. The room was spacious and clean however there is no shower. There is a large bath and the taps have a shower head but it is not affixed to the wall and there is no shower curtain. The restaurant is excellent however if you were staying for a few nights a broader choice of dining options would be welcome. I think it would be difficult to eat a gourmet dinner with several courses every evening. Wine list is very pricey but good but again some options for a more reasonably priced bottle would be welcome. Breakfast is excellent. I would recommend this hotel and I would return to stay.

Le Bon Laboureur is a quiet, formal hotel that attracts well-heeled people in part because of the chic restaurant in a village setting a few minutes' walk from the chateau of Chenonceaux. It is not, as at least one photograph suggests, a country hotel in the sense that is usually meant. We had a spacious room in one of the annexes. It was private and well-appointed, so we did not ask for a change, even though it was quite dark. Just to note that a continental breakfast is available at the hotel, but it costs something like $30 per person. This seems to be par for the course these days at expensive hotels, but it isn't very welcoming, especially when the hotel is in a small village with only one alternative for breakfast. Still, the location in Chenonceaux was one of the best for visiting the western end of the Loire/Loir area.

- very friendly reception staff - extremely charming location - not advisable if you don't like to find the entrance to your room directly in front of somebody's dinner table - a bit dangerous for people who are higher than 1,80m

Disappointing was the service in the restaurant: long waiting time for the menu list (15 min), service of bread and water only after complaint (another 30 min), no water and/or wine fill up by waiter. However, quality of the meal was good.

The hotel was so pretty, just like a picture postcard. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was absolutely beautiful, very spacious and so quiet. We loved every minute that we were there and would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay in this area. It's convenient to many of the chateaux in the Loire valley.

Superb! A beautiful room with a sitting room and private garden. Each building is stunning in this complex, overall a truly charming village. You are within walking distance of the chateau. The staff were highly professional but personable. We had a magnificent dinner in the restaurant and wondered how they could provide the quality of food and service for the price. A magical experience.

El hotel es agradable, bien situado, con una distribuicón en diversos espacios. Solamente utilizamos el servicio de parking, muy bien. La habitación muy espaciosa, tal como habiamos solicitado. Hemos estado muy a gusto.

I found some of the staff quite unpleasant, particularly one person (who I belive may have been the owner). Simple requests (such as to move two tables together at dinner) were turned down. We were accused of making noise on one night, when we were not even in the hotel at the time. The next morning, the owner would not even greet us.

Gorgeous location and views. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The only thing was the high price of the dining room dinner menu, which was much more expensive than comparable meals in the same town. The meal was very good, not excellent.

The location of Le Bon Laboureur is fabulous. We were able to tour Chenonceau, walk back for dinner in the village, and return to Chateau Chenonceu for the night lights. We also toured Chambord, Cheverny, and Chaumont from this great location. The room was a little meager for a four-star hotel but the decorating in the rest of the hotel was beautiful. Other four-star hotels on our trip were much more luxurious. The pool is across the street and not as convenient but it was very nice. The staff at the desk were not as friendly as we would have liked. We had heard that the restaurant is fabulous but the prices are high even for breakfast. We ate at other restaurants in the village that were great.

This was our first visit to Chenonceaux, as we planned to visit various chataux and the closeness of Le Bob Laboureur to the chataux in Chanonceaux was our main concideration.

Le Bon Laboureur is in a lovely setting and is clean and quiet. The food was very well presented, but for my tastes over-elaborate and over-priced.

We stayed at this hotel for the first two nights of a small tour of the Loire Valley; my only regret is that we should have stayed longer. This was the best of any of the Hotels we stayed on, and the quality of the food and service was among the best of any of the places we visited.

Chenonceaux is a very good place to be based for a brief stay in the Loire region. The chateau there is historic, and arguably the most interesting and beautiful one on the Loire. Out of season the village and hotel are quiet. The room we stayed in was on the small side and the bath too small for comfort... but the hotel has charm, is welcoming and offers good food, excellent wine with a knowledgeable sommelier. A good breakfast. There are three other hotel/restaurants in the village for a change of food and others within a couple of kilometres. A good place to stay. Moderate value for money.

Lovely 4 star hotel set in a series of old farm buildings. The only drawback is the price and the restaurant prices, which are very high with small helpings of beautifully presented food. Overall, very romantic, beautiful setting and great service!

A charming old property in a great location just 5 minutes walk from the Chateau. The village is compact and has several restaurants where you can get a reasonably priced meal. Dinner at Le Bon Laboureur were too expensive for our budget. Breakfast (included in the price) were adequate but very simple juice, coffee/tea, fruit, yoghurt and croissants/ bread. You need a car to get around the Loire Valley and there is on site secure parking. I recommend staying here. Venere's price undercuts the hotel's own prices and provide great value.
