Hotel Ontas - Chania

Filia, who ran the hotel, was very welcoming and eager to please. Basic kitchen facilities allowed us to get our own breakfast. The bars opposite were noisy until at least 3.00am but we slept okay if we closed the double windows. Filia offered to move us to a back room but we didn't accept the offer. Generally we had a good stay and the hotel provided adequate facilities for our needs.

I booked the room through Venere.com but soon after realized that there was a discrepancy between what was advertised and reality ! There is no breakfast (as was being advertised) and for 2 persons, you can figure on 10 Euro per day easily. There was no attempt by Venere and the manager (I contacted ONTAS directly) to right this wrong. By the way, ONTAS management quoted me a price far lower than the advertised price on any of the wholesalers! Next came the issue of the free parking- THERE IS NONE, that is the honest truth. There is street parking and that is what we used- without much problem. Still, false and misleading advertising is not a good way to do business. Other than that, theh propietor smokes- and though he does it outdoors, it has a way of making it back into the towels. I know because I once was a smoker. On the good side, the location is slightly off the old town center, and it is good. The place - with all 4 units, is kept very clean, and the proprietor- even after not dealing properly with the "breakfast " issue, is a likeable character, and I wish him well. It is too bad about all of these mix-ups in promising things that are not there!
