One of the reception staff (the young lady) was a little grumpy and not that helpful, the older lady was excellent

A dated but clean hotel in an excellent location, otherwise pleasant enough stay was marred by some incredibly rude staff. Including a receptionist who stormed up to the room and started ranting at us because we were literally a couple of minutes late checking out - never seen anything like it before in many hundreds of nights in hotels! Also would not allow us to use the hotel car park for a short time after our departure after a stay of several days even as a good will gesture as we had not used the room for more than half our stay due to unforeseen stays in Moutain huts and were unable to cancel. Very unreasonable and rude. One older man working the night shift though was very polite and charming, shame the rest could not take a leaf or two out of his book.

We only stayed one night in Chamonix. We were so surprised at the size of our room for an old hotel. Our room was clean and tidy. We even had a balcony that looked out on to Mont blanc. Fantastic early morning views. Was right in the centre of town with there own private car park. Was a good price for the location and room.

It would be easy to be critical of this hotel as its far from perfect but then again its only a 3 star. i arrived 3 hours early and it was made quite clear i could not have my room before the exact check in time ...mmm ok. The room was kept very clean but in need of repair. Tiles missing from floor. exposed pipework and coat hooks that fell of the wall as well as a few other things but everything did function in the room. Bed ok Shower ok TV worked ect. As with most rooms in France not on the large side and i had a "superior room". The walls offered little in soundproofing from the adjacent rooms. Hotel staff provided an "ok" service. I did not take breakfast as there are far more cheaper options a stones throw away. What can not be faulted is its location as its right in the centre of Chamonix. The hotel is expensive for what you get and 3 stars is about right for the standard of the hotel. I can put up with the "tired" rooms and would return there because of its location.

Everything was great during our stay there. Great location, within short walking distances from everything you need. Friendly staff, a real pleasure to know them and to talk with them. Impeccable cleanliness, service in room is provided daily. If you don't like mountain hiking, don't go to this hotel, for it doesn't have an elevator and there are 45 steps to climb from the lobby to the third floor :)

While the hotel is in a great location and the overall property is nicely decorated, although retro, the problems with noise cannot overcome any positive aspects. While we accepted some street noise due to the location, what we didn't expect was drunken revellers for most the night, followed up by noisy deliveries and street cleaning starting from 6am continuing on until well into the working day. Further disappointing were the paper thin walls further exacerbating any noise issues. I wouldn't here again for any price, any wouldn't recommend it to those looking for a good night's sleep.

Hotel was ok, there isnt an elevator but if you plan on hiking in the surroundings whats a few steps. Located in the middle of the town which was amazing. Great price, helpful staff, stayed longer than first intended.

This was our 2nd stay at La Croix to do the Mont Blanc marathon. We stayed in room 20, a shower above the bath but a lovely if not noisey room. Thats what you get for being centrally located. Its a lovely hotel, bit shabby in places for the price but then that is Chamonix. Would probably try and stay a bit further out next time - you need a good nights sleep before a race.

La chambre est spacieuse mais pas a la hauteur de ce qu'annoncé (4*). les aménagements et décors sont désuets.

We stayed during the summer and had an enjoyable 2 days around the area. The hotel was very comfortable and spacious however the room that we stayed in had a large window in the bathroom which was lovely in daylight but we felt wasn't very private of a nightime. It would benefit from some sort of shutter or curtain. We also asked for a double bedroom but were given a twin. We didn't ask for another room as we were only there for 2 days. Other than that we found it a nice place to stay with friendly helpful staff and would definitely stay there again.

I stayed in a Superior room for a week in early July 09. I was pleased with the Hotel and cheerfulness and assistance of the Staff - this certainly contributed to the enjoyment of my stopover in Chamonix.

Great location, but horrible noise in the evening. The main street was right outside our window and kept us up at night. It was not a pleasant sleep.

Great location right in the centre of town. Old world charm. Staff were very helpful. Ski hire downstairs was great too. Only downside was the singing in the main street in the early hours but that was not too bad.
