Hotel Du Bois - Les Houches, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
475 Avenue Des Alpages - Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
877-662-6988The friendly 3-star Alpine chalet-hotel Du Bois is located in Les Houches, a picturesque ski resort in the Chamonix valley, only 6 km/3.7 miles from Chamonix, the French capital of mountain sports. Ideally set within a few minutes of the centre of Chamonix, the ski slopes and hiking trails, this charming hotel ensures guests have a memorable stay in Haute Savoie.
Centrally located! The town of Chamonix is a 10 minute drive away and with local transport right across from the complex, this 3 star chalet hotel in Les Houches is convenient for families and couples alike. The friendly staff at reception will answer all your skiing related questions during your stay.
Besides lovely guest rooms decorated in Alpine style and the stunning view of the mountains, the Hotel Du Bois also features a rustic restaurant and a friendly bar, the perfect place to relax in after a day on the slopes. During the hot summer afternoons, guests can have a drink on the shady terrace and enjoy grilled meat or oven-baked pizzas while admiring stunning views over Mont Blanc.
For a rejuvenating experience in the Chamonix Valley, start and end your day with a dip in the pool and a relaxing moment in the sauna. Arrangements for ski classes, hire of a professional mountain guide, ski pass bookings and so much more can be made directly at the hotel reception. The complex's sauna and pool are perfect for relaxing in after a long day skiing, and the bar is particularly comfortable for après ski nibbles for guests unwinding next to the wood burner.
Idyllic borderlands! In close proximity to the resorts of Argentiere and Comayeur (Italy), which are both accessible by a short drive, the Du Bois skiing complex offers guests the ideal location and access to variable array of skiing resorts.
A glacial location! The Montenvers Train is the first custom built tourist attraction in the valley of Chamonix in 1908. The still functioning railway regularly departs from Chamonix and makes the steep climb up the Aiguilles de Chamonix. This journey takes approximately 20 minutes with excellent views of the valley below.
A small cable car allows visitors to descend from the train station onto the Mer de Glace glacier where they can enter the man made ice grotto. The grotto features a collection of ice sculptures and caves inside a giant glacier. Facilities are very good and include a restaurant, café, souvenir shop and alpine museum. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is definitely a must do during your stay at Mont Blanc's Du Bois Chalet Ski Resort. The views from the top of the terrine are some of the most breathtaking in the whole of Chamonix.
Wine tasting in the Mountains! The Cha Cha Cha is a lovely wine shop/bar that has a wide selection of wines, spirits and wine related merchandise, with good prices on champagnes and particularly magnums of lesser known champagne brands. In the wine shop there is a small bar where you can have a drink.
The friendly and polite staff will welcome you and are happy to answer questions about the wines and beers that they sell on the premises. There is also a wine bar if you want to stop by and have a glass of what they’re pouring that day. The Du Bois Chalet Ski resort offers a warm buffet and a local cheese platter with three sittings, 7.15 p.m., 8.40 p.m. and 9.15 p.m.
What a fantastic area! The views around the hotel are amazing. To see Mont Blanc from the bedroom window was incredible. We enjoyed our stay at the Du Bois. Room was...

What a fantastic area! The views around the hotel are amazing. To see Mont Blanc from the bedroom window was incredible. We enjoyed our stay at the Du Bois. Room was nice and a decent size. Bathroom door needed changing though. Breakfast not included in the price which was a shame. We ate in the hotel at night- quite a decent buffet for 20 euro (and enough choice for a vegetarian). So much to do in the local area-wish we could have stayed longer than 3 nights. The hotel gives you a free travel pass for the local bus and train-so its quite easy to get around even if you don't have a car. Chamonix not too far away-much busier, with lots of cafes and restaurants. Les Houches is quieter and smaller, but it has all the basics-supermarket, tourist info, some restaurants, petrol station... A beautiful area-can't wait to return.

Have stayed here before but 8 years ago. Rooms nice, clean and well made up. TV (with BBC!!!) and fridge. Not very big room but comfortable. Small swimming pool and towels. Bar with Wi-Fi which was good. Only down side was food. breakfast was fine; buffet, bread, eggs, ham, cheese etc. Dinner though was also buffet which we didn't really like so we ate elsewhere a couple of times. Do do speciality dishes which we didn't try. Overall very satisfied, would recommend it and probably go back.

The Hotel was excellent and the service impeccable. However, we were a little disappointed in the size of the room for the price paid. Also, the quality of the buffet dinner in the restaurant was very disappointing and spoilt an otherwise delightful stay.

The hotel was very charming and cosy. The staff was very friendly and the accommodations were quite comfortable. The hotel restaurant has an amazing dinner buffet. It was one of the best meals we had on our trip. They also have a nice indoor pool and sauna - very relaxing after a long day.

Price and quality stand in a very good relation. The room was big. You can only see, that the hotel is old. The employees were very competent and friendly. The breakfast for 9 Euro was really great. In the night it was loud when you are like us on the street side.

Excellent hotel in a smart place (Les Houches), that is pretty close to Chamonix (However, it is not Chamonix). I hope to come back to this hotel.

We stayed in the off-peak time, early October, so the price/quality ratio was excellent. Food was excellent, a bit pricey but it's expensive everywhere. Nice sauna, pool, lounge, and terrace. Room had a nice bathroom, balcony, and comfortable beds, and overall we had wonderful, friendly service. I had a very relaxing traditional massage, which I'd highly recommend. Atmosphere was perfect.

L'albergo è molto carino ma nelle camere dal lato della strada si sente molto rumore. Colazione abbondante, buono il menu della cena. Il personale è molto cortese e disponibile

The Du Bois is an excellent hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. This was our second stay there and the quality lived up to expectations. The hotel resaurant does get booked early for the evening meal and I would recommend booking ahead if you wish to dine at the Du Bois itself. The quality of the restaurant is excellent but it is rather small for the number of guests when the hotel is full.

As for the description the hotel seems to be much better than it is in fact. However, the hotel is "correct" in general (staff, location, cleanliness...) except for the too small size of some rooms. We can not mention anything specially regrettable, but we can neither mention anything specially outstanding.

Our third-floor double room was roomy and clean and had a balcony and a million dollar view of the mountains. We would definitely go back.

The ambience was special, the chalet style rooms gave such a feeling of permanence and the view is spectacular. I especially enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna. The bath tub was big enough to really have a soak in. The only down side was that the restaurant was closed. The breakfast buffet was excellent although a trifle expensive at 9 euros.

We were a bit disappointed at the room when we arrived. The hallway was dark and not attractive what so ever. The carpet was worn and dirty. The walls had marks all over them. We had an extra single bed in a room that was not in the photo and we did not request. Because of the extra bed, there was very little room to put our suitcases (except on the bed). The people at the front desk were extremely nice. It was nice to have the covered parking. We only spent one night so it is hard to tell about the services.

The owner/manager was extremely helpful to us in resolving our flight reservations back to the US. She allowed us to use her internet connection and phone to work things out. The breakfast food was great, a buffet like meal of everything you could ask for.

Excellent accueil, bonne situation dans Les Houches à proximité de l'entrée de l'autoroute. Piscine et sauna, le tout très près des principales attractions touristiques. Belles chambres avec balcon, salle de bains et TV ... le prix aussi est très compétitif.

The hotel was very nice. We werent there long enough to use all the facilities, but the pool did look nice. We arrived late, (9:15pm) and missed the kitchen, so had to go elsewhere for food. Nothing else was offered. Apart from this though, everything else was good.
