Hotel Baia del Capitano - Cefalù

It was our second visit to Baia del Capitano. Our welcome was not so good as the lady on the desk was distracted. However, on the initial disappointment on not being allocated the room we had requested, overlooking the pool, the rest of the stay was wonderful. All staff were exceptionally helpful, and the calm surroundings helped us relax and enjoy ourselves. The food was plentiful and beautifully presented. One slight criticism was, for an English person the tea at breakfast which was lukewarm and the juice, which was not very palatable. In spite of all this, we will still consider a third stay at this lovely hotel.

Nice: close to beach with use of hotel sun beds, pleasant swimming pool, on top floor pleasant terrace with view on nearby Cefalu. Hotels staff not always immediately available. Our room with a good bed was quite small and had a tiny bathroom. Very bad coffee and tasteless bread made it the worse breakfast of our stay in Sicily.

Unfortunately the welcome we received when we arrived at the hotel totally spoilt what was a well kept and ideally located hotel with all the facilities that you would require for a base on a touring holiday. We were totally ignored on arrival, the receptionist clearly did not like customers. Although my language of choice is English having lived in the UK nearly all my life, I am an Italian by birth and a fluent speaker. Communication should not have been a problem! We received no assistance or offers to help with our baggage and despite the fact that it was hot and we had clearly been travelling it took some effort to acquire some mineral water to quench our thirst. P.S. Although they boast a mini-bar in the rooms. It was totally empty! The receptionist was no more helpful when we departed.

Hotel Baia del Capitano provided an adequate and acceptable, but unexceptional stay whilst we were visiting different locations on our holiday Sicily. Elsewhere we stayed in smaller cheaper but more freindly and enjoyable hotel accomodation than this. The hotel definitely had an empty and end of season feel to it, although it was only the beginning of September when we stayed there. (Perhaps it is different earlier in the year?) Staff were always courteous and efficient, but not what you would describe as welcoming and friendly. We were aware before booking that the hotel was a little distance out of Cefalu but from the information provided anticipated a rather more frequent bus service into the town and at more suitable times that proved to be the case when we arrived. Going out for evening meals in local restaurants, (we prefer more local atmosphere than most hotel restaurants generally offer, as well as choice in how much we spend ), meant travelling into Cefalu itself and this meant the use and additional expense of taxis which was disappointing. The hotel had quite a nice small pool, but access to the hotel beach was further away than anticipated from the information provided - 15 minutes walk. Overall, the hotel was generally adequate for our 2 night stay but did not offer anything that made us feel we would have wished to stay any longer, return there again in the future, or particularly recommend it to others.

Very agreeable public areas. We were given the smallest room in the hotel (perhaps planet)with a sandy floor to remind us that we were near the beach. Lovely pool and garden. We chose to eat dinner at the hotel dining room and found it carefully managed the food delicious.

very nice hotel - quiet location - took 15 euro taxi into cefalu for dinner -there was a political rally in the city - without taxi, we would have been doomed - traffic & parking a nightmare - front desk recommended "locals" ristorante which was full of tourists - dinner was good, though - think we should have taken another reviewer's advice & gone to the chat noir - wish we had allowed for a longer stay here -

We spent two night in Castellamare at the hotel, at the end of a three-week trip. The hotel is at one end of a small harbor, which is now full of bars and restaurants; this can be a bit noisy, but the hotel location minimizes the problem. It's worth asking for the (more expensive) rooms with balcony, as the view is superb. The rooms are fairly large, and everything worked. The staff was the friendliest and most helpful that we ran into during our trip, and the breakfast the best. This hotel is a real find.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. It is a short drive, not walkable to the actual town of Cefalu which means you have to find and pay for parking.

Well, I just could not fault this Hotel, it was clean and very comfortable and great views from the top floor. All the staff spoke good English and if you want a quiet location in the countryside then this is the place for you. They even have a bus service to Cefalu.

A near perfect blend of peaceful surrounding and amenities.... swimming pool, tennis courts and easy access to beach. Great dining experience/excellent menu selection. A short drive from gated villas/community to Cefalu. Highly recommend Hotel/Resort to all travellers.

The main building of the hotel is very nice and comfortable.My wife and me, couldn´t enjoy it, in spite of having previous reservation. The hostess gave us a double room in the hotel annex, outside it.In the first night we fought against mosquitoes!In the next day,after some complaints, she gave us a pellet, against the insects, for the second night. As it rained, every time we went to "collazione", we have to get an umbrella. I would like to reccomend to the lady, which is the main hotel hostess, that it would be great, if she could be a little bit more warm and polite, in the relationship with the clients.
