Hotel was excellent. Just two small comments. The breakfast was poor compared to other 3 star hotels I visited and although it stated that it has private parking, there is very few space and you have to leave the car key in the reception if you park in from of other cars which is inevitable. For the rest worth visiting

Hotel in the residential suburbs. The room was over_furnished (too many beds) making it very crowded (you could not open the wardrobe door completely. The bathroom suitable for a midget and after a shower the floor was swimming in water. The parking area was small and you had to leave your car keys so they could shuffle the cars around.

Great hotel with very friendly staff. Our only problem was finding it. The website directions and Google maps did not help. We had to stop at another hotel to get direction on how to get to Villa Mater.

The lady that assisted us was extermely helpful. We arrived befor check-in time, but they hurried to get our room ready so we could go to it right away. They also thought to offer a child crib for us without us asking. The internet was a bit slow, but it did the job (and the price is low.) It could be harder to find, but there are signs that led us right there.

We were very satisfied with the choise of this hotel - clean, good equipment, excellent breakfast, good price and very important for Italy - a parking place for the car. We stand 1 night in Catania for stop over. We can recommend this hotel.

I stayed at Villa Mater for three nights. The Hotel is VERY far away from the city center (50 minutes walk) so it might be actually cheaper to just get a room in the center for 60 Euro for 2 people instead of this which is 50 for 2. The room was clean and the breakfast was really good, but the light in the bathroom is very poor (makes it hard to shave, put contact lenses on, etc) and one day they only folded a dirty towel and put it back as clean, on the bed, but the smell gave it off.

Environnement tristounet.

The parking space is very small, everyone parks behind each other and if you want to go out you can't because your car is blocked by other cars. We had to leave our car on the street outside the hotel all the time.

We stayed only for one night and we found it with the navigator easily. But there are also many signs of the hotel on the street to find it easy even without a navigator. Rooms with the view tof Etna were great, very clean. It has an automatic mashine for coffe and other staf if you are hungry in the evening. They suggested from the hotel when we asked them a very nice restaurant near ETNA called GALLO (something ) Beautiful food. The hotel staff was very helpfull

The hotel is OK. It's obviously not a fancy one, but it is clean, has a pretty decent breakfast and it also has internet conection!(they charge you for that but it's not expensive). It is a little far from everything and you have to go everywhere by car. One of the receptionist didn't speak anything but Italian and we had a little trouble with that, but they all were very nice and willing to help with everything.

The hotel is not easy to find without a navigator . There is no restaurant in the neighbourhood. However we walked to the via Etnea wich leads directly to the centre of Catania. We were very lucky to plunge in the Sant'Agata celebrations with processions and many pilgrims carrying gigantic heavy candlesticks. Catania is a estaimated town! It has an authentic and huge fishmarket and an interesting centre.

Was the first time. I hope to repeat the experience that was good enough. Was perfect for the price/quality. The only trouble we had was at the arrival when they found to have mistaken our booking that was for a double and they reserved a single! But they were able to accommodate us. They were anyway very polite.

A clean and relatively modern hotel situated to the North of Central Catania, which is about a 20 minute bus hop away. Being administered by an order of Nuns, the building is spotless and very quiet. Moreover, if you can get access to the roof terrace, you will have a fantastic view of Mount Etna on a clear day. It's just a pity about the phone mast which has been erected about 250m away in direct line of sight:-( The staff are really helpful, especially Marco on the front desk and always willing to help. The only problem we had was finding the hotel at night, while driving! The roads in Catania are manic and confusing, so much so, we ended up getting a Police Escort to the property and even they had to ask someone enroute! Almost forgot, if you need the air conditioning on in the room while you are at the hotel, you need to ask reception to activate it from their central control panel downstairs.

Catania is a nice place to be. Villa Mater not easy to find, tourist information was not very helpful as there was no map of this part of the town... With a car it is no problem to get to and fro. Clean, but quite loud (some noisy machine just next to the hotel). Breakfast as usual in Italy, do not expect too much.

Villa Mater is an adequate hotel, just realize that the most of the staff does not speak English so communication at times is a problem and for that reason I think the hotel caters to an Italian clientele doing business in Catania. The nearest landmarks are a short cab ride away in the city center. Parking is difficult in the center.

The bathroom is rather small and the toilet cover doesn't lift completely, hence is rather difficult to use, also the wash basin is rather unconfortable to reach, especially after taking a shower. The place, however, is overall confortable and people are nice and friendly. The only restaurant available in the area is Al Popolo del Mare. Service is reasonable as the food quality, unfortunately they do not show you a menù card hence you do not have idea about prices. Therefore i feel that prices are quite high for the place location service and food provided.

We arrived very late after midnight because of a plane delay and were expected and welcomed warmly. As the hotel did not to seem to be full with guests we got a relatively spacious 4 bed room for me and my wife. We stayed just for one night so we can not tell much more. You definitely need a car or to take a taxi to get to the hotel as it is situated a little bit on the outskirt of Catania. All in all we can recommend the hotel if you don´t want to be in downtown, especially because it is situated in a quite area.

Nice and clean hotel in a quiet neighbourhood of Catania. A bit far from the city center but ideally placed for visiting Etna or Taormina (next to the highway). Very tricky to find following the description on the web site, but very fortunately there are a lot of helpful signs all over the city.

Room was spacious and clean - the staff were helpful- the breakfast was good- the shower had a strong pressure. The instructions we had for finding the hotel should be changed i.e. Catania Est was never indicated on the motorway, so we missed the exit- a map would have been useful.

Although the hotel is not in the most attractive part of town, the views are lovely and the garden is nice, plus the secure parking is good. There are numerous signs along the road to guide you. Still it's not too easy to find. Staff was helpful, beit limited in languages other than Italian. They got us breakfast well before the scheduled breakfast time. Quietness of the room was ok until I picked up the sound of someone walking back and forth the floor above for some time. Something which doesn't only apply to this place : quoted driving times should be multiplied by something between 1,5 and 2 if you don't have true Sicilian driving skills.

We stayed for a night after a long drive from the Amalfi coast. The best thing was that it was stunningly well sign posted! So easy to go around Catania and find our way there without a map. It was easily the cheapest hotel we stayed at - it was also comfy, clean, good water pressure, well run, free parking and had an excellent view over the city.
