Idéalement situé mais un peu vieillot dans le look. Notre chambre était très(trop?) grande avec trois pièces (devrait bien correspondre à une famille avec enfants). Un peu bruyant quand on donne sur la rue.

The hotel location was very good, reception was friendly, and English spoken. Our only criticism about the room was that the outlook from the window was a blank wall, so it was very dark. There was an excellent tour to Etna - we were picked up at the hotel at 9.30, returned at 3.30 - also included lunch at a typical Sycilian restaurant.

Hotel Savona was great as a place to explore the historic centre of Catania. It is all there if you want to explore. Rooms very spacious and alll sights and sounds you would expect being right in the middle of the city. Great for us!

Was very centrally located. Only a few steps to walk to to mass. The room was nice and big. The little balcony was ever so romantic in the moonlight. We had room to dance in front of the t.v. to the music channel. The staff was wonderfully helpful and recommend a great little bar to eat at at 1130 at night. They provided a laptop for me to check my email and the breakfast was typical and very good. We only stayed 2 nights and will stay again my next trip.

As my first visit to Catania, this is THE place to stay. Very competent, clean, spacious and so well located I couldn't believe. Staying at Savona was one of the hot spots of the town.

We were very pleased with this hotel. It was clean and quiet. The rooms were nicely furnished. The location was EXCELLENT as it was less than a 2 minute walk from the Duomo, public market, and many fine restaurants. I would highly recommend it to anyone stayin in Catania. The only problem for some would be that there is no elevator.

the hotel is right in the middle of the city on a main road its very easy to find although because it's in the square and on the main streets its also very noisy (atleast in the room we had) though most of the night/day. the room we had was huge although we had had only asked for a double we had three different bedrooms and four different beds!

This is a quaint, quiet boutique hotel in very close proximity to the central historical district of town, including restaurants. The room was decorated with traditional furniture and had an old world feel to it. Breakfast consisted of a good variety, and staff was pleasant and helpful. Air conditioning was excellent. The only drawback was the lack of an elevator. Our room was on the third floor and we had to carry a heavy suitcase up three flights of stairs. Otherwise, this property is very good value for the money and is recommended.

We stayed in Catania to have a look around the city the day before our flight home. The hotel is just opposite the main Piazza del Duomo so it's very central to all the main sites. It was a very pleasant hotel and our room was clean and spacious. Catania is a place to go to in couples or groups, not alone as it doesn't feel very safe.

If you need a quiet room to sleep, be sure to ask for a room at the back because the hotel is on a busy street. The shower stall is tiny. The breakfast is pretty good. Most of the hotel staff members were friendly and courteous. Excellent location: close to the duomo, Teatro Bellini, and the not-to-be-missed outdoor market (fish, meat, fruit, and vegetables).

This hotel was ideally located almost directly across the street from the Duomo and within easy walking distance to all the major tourist attraction. It's clean and bright, the rooms are lovely, and the staff are extremely helpful. Our only complaints were that the bathroom - especially the shower - was extremely small, and that internet facilities were limited (and not available in the room, as we had thought from their website). Also, there is no elevator, so we had to drag our suitcases up the stairs, but we were forewarned about this (from the venere website!)

We were travelling with 2 kids and stayed in Savona for 3 days. The staff mostly spoke good English and were helpfull, although sometimes their heart wasn't quite into it. The breakfast was generous by Italian standards (i.e. there was more in the table than just croissants). The hotel was very well maintained and everything worked. Location of the hotel is very central, so there is only a short walking distance to the many of the sights. The parking on the other hand is a hassle, you'll have to park on the street (alhough there were parking places available) and use the prepay coupons. Nearest parking facilities are over half a kilometer away, and finding your way in the narrow streets can be interesting even with a navigator. The nearest beaches (for the kids ;) are a few kilometers away, the nearest playground is quite near, on the other side of the Piazza Duomo.

We were made to feel very welcome from start to finish. The Savona is in the heart of the busy central area and we were even helped with car parking suggestions. Savona is an ideal base as many places of interest and restaurants and shopping are close by. The rooms are very spacious and considering the location they are very quiet. breakfast was very good.

We loved the Savona. It's just off the Duomo square and can't be bettered for location. Friendly, efficient reception and spacious, clean rooms. We had a room at the back with a view over a large inner courtyard so it was very quiet, even the night that Italy won the semi-finals of the World Cup. The front may not be as peaceful as they face a fairly busy road, but I doubt that they will be so bad. Breakfast was standard 3 star level but perfectly adequate with fresh fruit, ham and cheese, rolls etc. There are two Slow Food recommended restaurants within 5 minutes walk, another couple just round the corner, you're 5 minutes from the main bus station where you can get airport buses, and just around the corner from Via Etnea. Unless you need the doubtful advantages of a 4* then I don't think you can do better.

We were so sorry that we only had one night in the Hotel Savona, en route for home after a sailing holiday. It is a delightful hotel and we would thoroughly recommend it. Reception located our booking immediately, and we found our room to be spacious, quiet and beautifully decorated. It overlooked a traditional courtyard, very typically Italian. The hotel is an old building which has been tastefully modernised with restrained elegance. We were pleased to find that quite a substantial buffet breakfast was included in the room rate. The hotel is amazingly centrally located and yet very quiet.

This is a very central hotel. Just exit the front door and 20 meters away you will find yourself in the beautiful Baroque piazza of Catania. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room and breakfast were very good and the price of 90 euro for a double room represented very good value. I would go there again.

Hotel was very nice. Other reviewers have also mentioned that the hotel has no elevator (lift). Travelers with special needs or those unable to carry their luggage up the stairs should be aware of this. They did however offer us a room on the first floor if we so desired. Overall it was a good experience. Hotel is right in the center of Catania and also very close to the Catania tourist office. English was spoken well at the front desk.

only unfortunate thing was breakfast room was redecorating, so we couldnt have 3 breakfast. but the hotel gave us refund for that. apart from that, they gave us very spacious room, because we had 1yr old kids. staff was very helpful, they told us where to eat out, the restaurant served very good regional food. the location of the hotel was 10mins walk from station, but the right centre of catania city. good location for eat out, sight seeing, shopping. for this price, its very satisfying andbargain. highly recomended.

We arrived in Catania very late in the evening. The hotel was easy to be accessed via shuttle bus from the airport. Very close to the Duomo, cafe, restaurants. The hotel staff was very friendly, and English communication was no problem. The room was spacious, with very high ceiling. Breakfast was nice, in a cozy dining hall. If you like to stay in the heart of Catania at a economical rate, this is a very good hotel.

The city signs for arrival by car to the hotel are good. The hotel has been recently reformed being the rooms confortable and cleans, although the breakfast hall offer yet a little old-fashion look. we arrived on a Saturday nightand many of the streets were closed to traffic. The only place to park was in a garage many blocks away, but could not get to since the streets were blocked. The city maps and the actual street names left a lot to be desired since street names are on the sides of buildings, almost impossible to make out especially at night. We ended up finding a space on the sidewalk off via etna to park overnight after driving around for 1 1/2 hours. There was no elevator and we were on the top floor which made it uncomfortable especially if one is older or handicaped. The desk was helpfull and English-speaking.

The Savona is a good three star option as it is right at the heart of Catania. We got a room for 99 Euro/night on a June Fri/Sat stay. The decor is very very 70's, especially in the breakfast room though the rooms are very clean. You get breakfast which is decent by Italian standards (Italians don't believe in breakfast :). It is a bit pricey at 99 Euros and one should be able to get something similar for about 15-20 Euros less in the historic centre. It was our fallback option as the other hotels were booked. I can't say I am displeased at all but there was nothing special about the hotel.

I have stayed at Savona only one night. In my opinion, it is worth to pay for because it locates in the center area, the room is big enough and clean. Also, the breakfast is variety. However, the hotel does not have lift to provide the convenience for carrying the luggage. But it is not a big matter for me.

Noisy position however near centre. NO lift, and second floor is actually more like the third because of the structure of the old building. NO suggestion of any help with 20Kg of suitcases up these stairs, just a smile when "no lift" was said. I should add that I am a white haired 62 year old which looks even older in Italy! Breakfast was OK but no brilliant ... it was only 3 star. Heating was not automatically on despite temperature dropping to 7 ... the method was simple enough but "how" had to be asked for. Despite these features, overall not too bad.

Very central. Lovely, spacious room. Nice breakfast which doesn't finish till 10.30. Employees were friendly, providing maps, restaurant and bar recommendations and ordering taxis. We still had to go to the tourist info office for further info as they seemed reluctant to go out of their way to find extra info for us. Still recommend it highly as it is almost opposite the Duomo, right by the main shopping and bar street and the fish market. Couldn't get much closer for such a reasonable price.
