This hotel is a little gem in the middle of a very busy city. We stayed here the night before our flight home (7:40am) and the staff gladly arranged a car service for us for a 6am pick up. The hotel is about 15 minutes away from the airport and there were some great restaurants/bars close by. We ate at Via Coppola and had drinks at the Wine Bar. THe hotel is very funky - it was very different from the lobby to the hallway to the rooms. It was a great spot for us, the only downside is that the room was pretty hot and the AC wasn't working so we had to open the window. Since it is a college town, it is very loud on the streets until the early hours in the morning. Even with the windows closed it was pretty loud.

The small hotelis well located. Key staff are very knowledgable and helpful. The included breakfast was above average in variety and of high quality. The diner in the restaurant was a high point of our 6 weeks in Europe, in part due to the knowledge of Sociaslian wine and food by the senior water.

Room was very good, with a small balcony facing on the court. Environment is really soft (light dimes) with classy furniture. Good surroundings within the old Catania with ancient street and buildings, unfortunately they are dirty and not restored. Breakfast is OK, not that generous.

Disco next door was active until midnight (on a weeknight), the room smelled of sewer, and the bed was uncomfortable.

Personale gentilissimo e qualificato, estremamente disponibile. Ottima la colazione.

Our room, although nice was very cold, and overlooked the terrace area on which were held large parties everynight, making any kind of sleep impossible before 3 am.

First off, do not walk from the railway station to the hotel if you've got heavy bags. The walk will take a little while and it finishes with a very steep hill. Check in was quick and efficient, however the lift was not working and then 30 minutes later, all the power turned off for over an hour. Rooms are very nicely decorated. Large, comfortable and clean. World's smallest TV!!!! It's about a 12 inch LCD mounted on the wall opposite the bed. With the room so big, it makes it difficult to watch from bed - and the remote doesn't work from that distance. Nice breakfast in the function room. I would recommend this hotel, and easy enough to get to Catania Airport from here.

The room was lovely, the bathroom excellent. The rooftop breakfast area gorgeous, the breakfast buffet excellent. We most certainly would go back. It was our first time to Catania and we would highly recommend the city. A great place to tour out of to see that part of Sicily.

The room was excellent; comfortable, quiet and very clean. The decor was beautiful. We stayed in the Standard Double room, so I wonder how good the superior rooms are!! The staff at Reception could not have been more helpful. The Hotel was very central for all the places to visit. Everything was within a short walk, although the hotel is sited on quite a steep hill. My husband and I both look forward to staying at the Hotel Royal again next year.

Our favorite hotel for the entire trip, good food and service. We wished we were staying longer in Catania, a lively city. This hotel is very difficult to find, we searched for 30 minutes following signs that led nowhere. A nice gentleman from another hotel showed us the way. It was worth the trouble, a beautiful hotel and nice people.

Unfortunately our stay was extremely brief due to departure flight times but the staff were extremely accomodating in arranging for an early 07.00am snatched breakfast. The reception were helpfull in recomending some local restaurants in an area not blessed with a lot. We would have loved to have sat out on the roof terrace cocktail bar but the October weather was against us. It's in the university area so there are quite a few good looking bars around but there is a definite scent of strange tobbaco in the air. The trouble with young italians is their love affair with spray paint and the rather grim walls of the old town have been all but covered. The museum andthe roman remains look very unloved. OK for a stop over destination but an afternoon and evening just about does it unless you need a base for Etna and the eastern seaboard.

After holidaying around Europe and experiencing different levels of customer service it was such a relief to arrive at Hotel Royal and be provided the level of service you should receive as a customer. The staff were amazing and so very helpful. I highly recommend eating at their restaurant as the level of service is nothing like we have ever experienced from a hotels restaurant. If you are coming from catania train station you may want to get a taxi or bus as it is a long walk if you have luggage.

The location and price are OK. The rooms are nicely decorated. The gym was out of service. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7:15, but at 7:20 the employees were still outside smoking their cigarette, and the breakfast room closed. We walked in with them, nothing was ready, so we just left as we were in a hurry.
