First time in Catania, found the hotel after getting off the bus too early! Hotel is a long way up Via Etnea so don't get off the bus at the beginning as we did! Staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble and spoke fluent English. We changed rooms as we were given a large room at the front of the hotel and my husband is a light sleeper. Room was smaller but fine with a beautiful ceiling. Very clean good breakfast. Staff booked a tour to Etna for us which was very good. Check out restaurant in the fish market Osteria Antica Marina, fantastic food the anti pasta consisted of 9 dishes!but you will need to book.

Very convenient for restaurants, metro, Round Etna railway and main shopping street, although some distance from the centre. If we were going back to Catania this hotel would be our first choice. The wide range of TV channels was useful in a city where most visitor attractions close at 1pm and restaurants do not open until 8pm - not that we spent all of those seven hours in our room!

Pluses: Old style Sicilian villa with ceiling frescos. Personnel is kind and helpful. Minuses: No elevator, breakfast is cheap.

The hotel had poor maintenance in general, both in entrance part as well as the room.

We stayed in Catania to "acclimate" to the time change before beginning an 8 day walking trip. This hotel was an excellent choice for that. The staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, and the area was convenient for sightseeing around the town. We would definitely stay there again.

The hôtel was really charming and ideally located. The lady at reception desk was really smily, friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and beautifully furnished.

Room 8 was lovely. Spacious and big (not that much the bathroom) and cute frescoes on the ceiling. Nice old furniture, splendid plasma TV (if you speak italian!, confortable bed and very clean. Nice continental breakfast and waitress. Not so nice the reception staff though not too bad. In general, very recomendable. Nice location as well and not too noisy with the double glazing. No elevator.

Our stay at this hotel was marveous. The rooms were ornately painted and comfortably large. I was impressed by the enormous television and air conditioning, two things that a weary traveller appreciates when coming back after a long day. I think that this hotel deserves one more star: the stay was excellent and the staff was helpful.
