Idea Hotel Catania Ognina - Catania

Very good hotel very near to the center, as well as on the sea side. Our room had a wonderful view, thanks to the courtesy of the director at the reception. Breakfast was the best we had in our overall visit of Sicily. The only downside was the tight shower cubicle, which could be a problem for the fat guys.

Pity it is not closer to the city. Have to use taxis to get anywhere.

The location and view from window facing sea was fantastic, being on higher floors. Secured parking appreciated. The only complaint is inoperative a.c in bedrooms, being November, but weather still hot. Shower too, too cramped expecailly for mature persons making it a bit dangerous and slippery goin out of it. Otherwise clean and all amenities available. Will recommend.

I return at Jolly Ognina after some years, and I find it better than before. Suggested!

Good value for money! We had our car and the private free parking was a gift! Personel OK! Breakfast was good. But internet 5 euros for half an hour?

It is not our first time here and we are always given excellent service. Highly recommended.

We booked this hotel since we were interested in doing a tour of Mount Etna (which was absolutely amazing - Acquaterra). Jolly Ognina was just brilliant! When we first arrived, the concierge helped us organise our tour, buses and recommended hotels. He seemed very happy to assist and didn't hesitate to search on-line for us! The night was very pleasant and I will definitely return there! Highly recommend!

A modern hotel, fully functional, professionally run, and beautifully located (ask for a room with a seaview). Excellent breakfast for an Italian 3-star hotel. A larger TV is in order though!

We saw some students. I think the hotel is maybe too far from the center of Catania. This is reachable by bus, but there is no schedule of the buses so sometimes it takes a while to go somewhere. We choose this hotel because it has a beautiful view on the sea, but in the description, it was not well indicated that it was so far from the center. But we enjoyed our stay anyway.

Our room overlooked the sea, so we had a good view. If the room was on the front side of the hotel, then the view would be that of a busy ring road. However, the rooms are well sound proofed from the outside, so on whichever side the room is, it is totally silent. Comfortable room, but the shower cubicle is very tight.

Excellent rooms: modern, news materials, spacious, clean, good isolement from street. Good service. Only one problem: it's far from Catania center and it's near to a big street with lot of traffic. But we have not heared any sound thanks to good double windows.

Huge room, but only a very small window! Good service! Pay attention: the 70 euro rate has NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED (it costs 10 euro/person)!!

Our room was relatively large, but did not have a view and seemed a little damp. The services were generally good (air conditioning etc). The location is convenient if you arrive by car, but is not very convenient for the town centre (long walk or bus).

Hotel is as indicated in the online description. Fine for a short stay, for a longer stay, rooms are too small, especially the bathroom.

Camera doppia adattata in tripla,biancheria presente solo per due persone e ottenuta su richiesta,, spazio insufficiente, rumore, vista su area servizio, primo piano. Le mie richieste erano per una camera tripla, piano alto, lato mare e tranquillità. Al mattino ci è stata offerta spontaneamente e gratuitamente la colazione, per "scusarsi" del disservizio offerto.

Excellent, but quite far from the center... anyway there is a bus stop near there...

It was our first time to Sicily and Catania, the website needs to give more details on how to get to the Ognina Hotel, by bus, train or taxi. They also need to tell you that the hotel is actully build just next to a very busy road and on the same sight as the hotel is a very ugly petrol station. Some of the staff at the Ognina was very friendly and helpful with bus numbers, maps etc. Unfortunately, some were not as helpful and quite short with us, when asking information about the surroundings. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were welcoming, clean and neat. The aircon was great in the summer heat!

This Hotel suited me fine since it also has a safe private uncovered car area.

We liked the hotel, good car parking, good price (we seemingly booked by internet a "promotional price".

Gas station at front entrance was somewhat off-putting. Hotel personnel were grumpy. Room was very small. Shower was so small you couldn't turn around in it. OVerall, would not recommend hotel.

Directions for people arriving by car (such as rental cars from airport) should be more detailed. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately Catania was only a stop-over stay. Yet the staff was very friendly, the hotel more than suited our requirements. The travel directions could have been better, we had to search how to get there by public transport in the late evening. Given the status of Sicily we were a bit anxious to get to the right place asap. Overall I would recommend both the Hotel and Venere!
