La Laterna was a nice, quite place that we used for exploring the surrounding villages. The good: * Great location for exploring many towns and sites * The restaurant was quite good (the daily specials are excellent prices and the quality is superb). * The pool is the back is large and it mostly had no one using it. Possibly because everyone is always out exploring the beautiful countryside The bad: * The hotel is located on a main road, so you can't do much walking; but the town is a quick 5 min drive * The style of the decoy reminds me of my Italian grandmother; though it was of old style, everything seemed clean and new.

We had a very nice stay at La Laterna. Nice and clean hotel, good breakfasts and pleasant staff. Our only disappointment was that the staff didn't have any information on the hiking trails of the Garfagnana mountains which had been the purpose of our trip to the region. Otherwise I would recommend this hotel since it is a very good value for the price.

We enjoyed our 3 nights at La Lanterna. The location is on the hill overlooking the main part of town, which makes it a bit inconvenient for walking, but we did find a shortcut walking path down to town. La Lanterna is a modern building, comfortable but not high on atmosphere. It has a very good restaurant.

Pleasant surroundings. Playground for children. Relaxed atmosphere in restaurant. However, no child seats. Driving distance to village centre. Picturesque village.
