The room was sparse and oh so loud! We could hear everything going on around us.

La Loggia was everything advertised and reviewed, and more. A great location for both Chianti-exploring and Siena, without the clamor. Beautiful countryside and views from the windows. The staff was very helpful, and the recommended Osteria outside Quercegrossa was family run and wonderful. The Web access in the lobby was very helpful in staying in touch. I would/will return there without hesitation and really look forward to it! The only (minor) problem was finding the hotel intially, and the location of the driveway in a blind curve; in-and-out was daring. One other caution: don't drive into Siena on market day (Wed); zero parking and grid-locked traffic!

Really nice place, (very quiet for our 5 nights), to stay but a car is essential if you want to eat in the evening.

La Loggia hotel is located just north of Siena about 1.5km south of the small town of Quercegrossa. It is on a country highway, overlooking the Tuscan countryside and vineyards. We were greeted by a friendly staff, and had a large room overlooking the countryside. The hotel had spacious public areas most with equally stunning views. We traveled in the off-season, so the pool and restaurant were closed. We did get the included breakfast, which was adequate, but not spectacular, unlike the spectacular views we had while eating it. For the evening meal, the staff was helpful and sent us into Quecegrossa, the nearby town. We ate at the local Osteria, and had the best meals we had in Italy. The ambience was small town Italy and the staff and locals were truly excited to serve us an exquisite meal. We had a great time and felt very welcomed, even before we had the terrific and inexpensive local wine. La Loggia staff gave us a wonderful alternative to their hotel during the off-season. A few things to mention. It was windy, and the shutters had a tendency to come loose and slam shut. This helped inspire our the Halloween element of our October stay, but detracted from the romantic part. Also, the hotel is in the country, so I'd recommend a car, a bike, or some good walking shoes. Quercegrossa is down a winding road, about 1.5km, so it's marginally walkable, and maybe not so much at night. We didn't ask the staff, but I bet you could get a ride into town for dinner. You are close to Siena and Florence, and the drive is great, on the country road, or the nearby expressway, if you get carsick. La Loggia is convenient, quiet, accommodating, and a great value. We felt this gave us a great opportunity to stay in the Tuscan countryside at a nice, romantic location, and do it at a very fair price.

This is a great place to stay but you definitely need a car. The hotel does not have a restaurant and the closest one is not really within walking distance...at least not on the winding road with no shoulder. However, they do serve an excellent continental breakfast at the hotel. The pictures on their web site do not do them justice.....the view from our bedroom window was great. The staff was great and very helpful and arranged for taxis and tours.

The location was excellent from Siena with good local restaurants in the area. The view from the room over the vineyards was fantastic. The hotel decorations have potential but looks rather tired and grounds looked somewhat neglected. Breakfast was minimal. There is a lack of warmth and welcome in the reception area and with the staff. The pool (not used because of season) is well layed out and overlooks the Chianti vineyards. It is behind the long-stay apartments. The hotel sign was only visible in the direction coming from Siena.

Very comfortable and quiet hotel located in a magnificent environment. Large rooms with a splendid view on the Tuscany countrysite. Limited number of restaurants at the village approximatively 1 km away but food was excellent and service most cordial so we did not mind going back.

The location and view are excellent but there is no insulation in the rooms and you can hear everything and the staff start cleaning around 07:00am and the doors are being slammed. Very loud no chance for sleeping past 07:00

We drove into this region and found Hotel to be well located just 8 km north of Siena. It was a quiet location on a hill overlooking the vine yards. It provided a great base to travel throughout the region. We liked it so much that we returned for added stay. Service was very good and friendly. Rooms were large and confortable. Morning breakfast was good.

We stayed in this hotel when visiting Siena and we loved it. It was a beautiful area and just down the road from a lovely little restaurant that the hotel recommended. If you are driving through Tuscany this would be a great place to stay.

A simply great hotel. Just a few kilometers outside Sienna, this hotel is situated near a nice village of Quercegrossa; it's surrounded by picturesque landscape, which means you've got plenty of opportunities to go biking or for a walk - when you're not visiting Sienna - or you can simply relax by the pool and take in the vista of those green Chianti hills ... Great breakfast, very nice rooms - all with a nice view - and very nice, competent staff. Worth a prologued stay!

So close to Siena (5K)and the main road to Florence but also being right in Chianti country. Tremendous views. Also from the pool which we had to ourselves! As noted in a previous review, you will need to drive to get an evening meal, although one can be booked at the hotel. There is a good restaurant 5K further up the road. . .

Beautiful Hotel in a nice countryside close to Siena. Excellent facilities and services, although we did not see any air conditioning in the rooms, despite we had expected it from the web page contents. The same price as much worse Hotels we had to suffer during our trip. I would certainly recommend it.

very elegant rooms, staff -friendly and helpful. shuttle service to and from downtown Siena would be appreciated since the hotel is far from the city. the hotel has only 1 restaurant and is only open for breakfast and supper..the time that we were there, there was one night that the chef was not available-so the restaurant was closed, hence no supper for those who did not have a car to go somewhere else.

beautiful setting and awesome views of the region from the rooms. pool is a nice amenity but modest - still nice to have in the summertime. map and directions should be enhanced on-line because it's hard to find if you have no relative distance from major landmarks.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here and in particular loved the location and the view from the swimming pool! In fact, I wish we could have spent more time there as well as visiting all the beautiful places nearby. However, perhaps the hotel would benefit from more service or facilities (eg food, drink etc) in the middle of the day, especially at the poolside, which would allow people (like ourselves) to spend more time relaxing during the day. But, really, we had a great time! Philip Hawkins
