Best Stay on our Trip to Italy! The Staff went above and beyond to make our stay the experience of a lifetime. The surrounding area is gorgeous... a little difficult to get to, so make sure you have a good map of the area! And be sure to make it to breakfast, a great spread and delicious coffee! And the pool is fantastic too! The only thing we didn't care for was the dinner. It was our most expensive meal in our entire trip and we thought it was awful. A GIANT piece of meat, enough to feed four people, with no seasoning/sauce. So, I would say, to wait until you get there to see what's on the menu for dinner (they want you to make a reservation in advance, but you could do it when you get there) -- but definitely STAY HERE, and ask for the tour of the local vineyards!

Great hotel, mediocre and expensive restaurant, but 5 minutes drive away in Castellina there are several excellent eating options from pizza to local cuisine. Wonderful surroundings, very nice swimming pool on a terrace overlooking the hills. Overall a very good stay.

We staid for 4 nights and had selected this location because it was, at the same time, remote in the vineyards and close to main art cities like Florence, Sienna and all other small cities in Toscana. This hotel is just an outstanding place : location, service, breakfast, everything is above imagination. My wife and I would love to return asap.

This villa is so much more than its website shows--absolutely beautiful, extremely clean, with a fantastic staff and restaurant to boot. I will be recommending it to friends and staying there again myself.

This hotel was beautifully located in wine country. The room was clean and very quiet. Dinner was served outside overlooking vineyards. It was relaxing. The receptionist even arranged a private wine tasting for us. The town was pleasant as well. One problem we ran into was that all vineyards in the region that hold daily wine tastings are a long drive from the hotel on windy roads. I recommend stopping on the way to the hotel. Otherwise, call the more local wineries ahead of time to arrange private tastings.

Superb location. Quiet with wonderful views of the hills. Good large room in 'villa' 50 metres from main house. Swimming pool superb and we had it to ourselves all day. Lunch on the terrace was excellent. The food at dinner was overall fine - on one night the quality of the main course did not live up to the rest of the hotel. Castellina in Chianti is well worth a visit. Would definitely go back.

The staff was very gracious and spoke enough English to be quite helpful. We were given maps for our drive into Sienna and marvelous suggestions on vinyeyards to visit. The location is beautiful. When my wife and I arrived, I said, "are we dead?" (as it seemed we were in heaven). After checking in, we were served a bottle of Vermentino with a plate of olives on the veranda overlooking the Sangiovese vines and olive grove.

Villa Casalecchi set-up as a hotel - but in our opinion the locations and the building are far more suitable an Italian manor house. We had a room in the annex which was quiet - we ware alone in the building. But the queerness and the beauty of the landscape was enough for us. We used Villa Casalecchi as a base for wine tour studying Brunello wines.

We had a great time. This is a perfect tranquil location that looks out over a very narrow valley. We were there in the off season which meant we pretty much had the public spaces to yourselves. It is also ideally situated for day trips into Florence, Sienna, or the surrounding Tuscan countryside. I’d highly recommend this location to anyone visiting Tuscany.

A wonderful chateau type hotel; family run;excellant personal service; rooms excellant with own seating areas overlooking hills of vineyards. The dinner was silver service style and breakfast was superb. Would return again if in the Chianti area. Receptionists gave helpful advice on the suurrounding areas Not cheap but worth it!

As we stayed one night only, we probably received the 'last' room in the Hotel. Quality and Price for this little, loud, filthy room stays in no relationship at all. The Breakfast was poor, no bread choices, and no real typical Tuscan farmer’s food on the buffet, no choice of cereals. No real fresh products, no possibility to enjoy the breakfast outside. No Garden Restaurant. This Hotel really needs renovation and a new room concept overall (Dinning, sleeping, Garden, Garden Restaurant and Terrace, etc.).

One needs to consider how they will arrive at the Villa. We thought we would be able to take the bus to the Villa, which is approx. 26 km from Siena. We traveled on a Sunday, and there is no bus service from Siena to Castellina. We took a taxi which worked out better for us. As for the accomodations, it was everything we thought a Tuscan Villa should be. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we were upgraded to a beautiful room with a lovely view of the Tuscan countryside. It was magical and the absolute best stay of our two week trip in Italy.

We felt like the "rich and famous" here. The surrounding grounds and gardens at the Villa were breathtaking. The reception staff were so helpful with helping to plan our day trips, providing maps, suggestions and by speaking English as well made us feel right at home. We were traveling with 4 couples and all our rooms converged on a terrace overlooking the pool and vineyards, away from the main public rooms which made it seems like we were in our own private home. The restaurant on site was lovely and we ate there our first evening when all were tired and hungry after a day of traveling. After that we ate in alot of the local restaurants in nearby Castellina. In fact the best one being right at the driveway to the Villa. We will return in the future, but this time allow many more days for enjoying the tranquility of Villa Casalecchi and the Chianti countryside.

We enjoyed everything, the nearby town of Castellina in Chianti, Casalecchi and its amenities, and the location. Although we loved nearby Sienna we were glad we were staying in a more rural setting. The first night we arrived at the Villa was late in the evening but Umberto, the manager at Casalecchi, who was so great during our entire stay, made sure the staff stayed late to prepare a late dinner in the very cozy dining hall. The food and the local wine were excellent! Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer but we will next year. Thanks Umberto for everything!

My wife and I just returned from a month in Italy, staying in nine different hotels in Rome, Venice, Florence, several different hill towns in Tuscany and Umbria, and the Amalfi Coast. Villa Casalecchi was our clear cut favorite place we stayed. The setting is beautiful, the property and grounds spectacular, and the small dining room was one of the most romantic dining experiences of our lives. The food is much better than average as well. The help, especially the two brother waiters, and the young woman in the office who speaks English with a British accent, were extremely helpful. We're recommending this place to all our friends, and plan to return soon.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The views of the countryside can only be described as breath-taking. The building and grounds will relax even the most stressed out traveller. The staff, Flavio, in particular, are amazing. The rooms were spacious and always clean. But they are strictly functional, tasteful, and basic. Don't arrive here expecting a high star rating city hotel. This is a wonderful retreat with a comfortable bed and a clean room. If I were to suggest anything, I would like to see some added variety with respect to the breakfast offering. And, dinner meals were good, but not nearly as delicious as that offered by the restaurants in the nearby town of Castellina in Chianti. The location of this hotel is also wonderfully suited as a base location from which to do day trips in the surrounding Chianti area. Overall, we will go back to this hotel and I would have no reservation about recommending it to others. Also the on-line booking service was almost too amazing. The confirmation came back so fast that at first I wasn't sure if it was the actual confirmation or an acknowledgement of the receipt of our booking request.

My stay at Villa Casalecchi on the outskirts of Castellina was the highlight of my sojourn through the Tuscany region. The surroundings are gorgeous, the facilities excellent, and the staff extremely helpful, for example, recommending a superb restaurant in town when theirs was closed for the evening and bustling about to secure a fan one hot Italian evening. That remedied the one flaw in our accommodations--the outbuilding for larger (family) groups was not air-conditioned, as we were led to believe. Still, that was a minor glitch in what was a wonderful accommodation that I would (and will) recommend wholeheartedly to anyone travelling throughout the region.

Good surroundings and very peaceful but still close enough to the local village. A relaxing stay where you can enjoy the benefits of Tuscany. The hotel was helpful in arranging horse-riding for our children with a local stable, as described in the details. Although we only stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, the restaurant appeared to have a restricted menu which did not cater for children.

This is a vacation that requires more than a couple of days stay. Having a means of transportation is required because the places to visit such as other towns, wineries, and historical spots require some driving and you don't want to depend on public means of travel. This place has everything a family needs and is by far an excellent, quite, friendly place to stay. thank you very much.

Enjoyed our stay the last week of June, 2004. Used the hotel as a base to explore wineries, Siena, San Gimignano and Castellina. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The pool is fabulous with a wonderful view of the Tuscan countryside. The room was spacious and was a nice change from the cramped rooms in Rome, Florence and Venice. Delicious breakfast included. I highly recommend this hotel and will return during our next visit to Italy.

The property is beautiful with gorgeous views from the outdoor areas, and a lovely pool. The rooms varied from very spacious to cozy. Beds were comfortable and rooms were well equipped. Bathrooms were clean and adequate, especially by Italy standards (usually very small). The staff were marvelous -- well trained, attentive, coureous, helpful and warm. It felt very personal as well as professional. The property is beautiful and conveniently located near the city of Castillina del Chianti, but the Villa feels remote, like being out in the country. We would stay there again, happily, and recommend it highly.

We stayed in a less expensive apartment in a separate building from the actual villa and we loved it. It made us feel like we were living in Italy, not just visiting. We were free to wander the vineyards in the early morning and we took lots of great pictures. Also Castellina in Chianti is a great little town to visit. The weather wasn't too good, but we still enjoyed our stay.I'd avoid San Gimignano next time because it's become too much of a tourist trap. We found two good places to eat very near the Villa. Only wish we could've stayed longer.

1st advice, ask a room that overlook the hills. We had a room overlooking the garden... small garden ... not interesting. So, I was quite disapointed by the room. 2nd advice, ask if they have changed water in the pool recently. When we came, the water was so cold that my child get blue lips of cold in 5mn. The good point to conclude: - It is quite nice to take diner in the evening on the terrasse. - Breakfast is good ... excelent bread.

It was the most expensive hotel that we stayed in during our two-week visit to Tuscany and by far the lowest value. The food was actually below average, which isn't something we experienced often in Italy. The staff was split - the manager was nice an helpful, but the general staff made us uncomfortable - not anything we could put our finger on exactly, but they behaved rather strangely at times. This is the only hotel we would not return to out of all of the ones we stayed at in Italy.
