A fantastic base from which to explore the region giving easy access to most of the main attractions around tuscany. Not having to drive in the evening with the ability to walk into Castellina in Chianti is a great advantage. Very helpful staff, breakfast was wonderfull (and entertaining!) would definately book into this hotel again.

No air conditioning, so windows must be opened but no mosquito nets, damage ! But we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The situation, the cleanliness and the reception: wonderful !

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel- the setting was beatiful although quite a hike in to Castellina(only for the young or fit!)Room was small and I would not have liked to stay for longer than a couple of nights in it but it was good value.The staff were very helpful- nothing seemed too much trouble. Would definitely go back.

Es un hotel genial, situado en castellina in chianti, cercano a todo lo interesante de la strada chianti. Muy comodo de llegar, ya que no esta en el centro del pueblo, pero si a 10 minutos a pie. Y con la hermosura de sus paisajes es gratificante. Buen espacio para aparcar los coches dentro. La amabilidad de los empleados es supremo, las habitaciones genial, una calidad precio exacta. Sin duda volveré.

We wanted a place that would combine a rural location with access to local restaurants. This one is ideal for that: you are just 20 min. walk from the 'town' centre, where there are some 10 restaurants to choose, including one or two with Michelen stars. Two restaurants were just at the doorsteps. So drinking and driving was not a problem. At the same time just 2 minutes in other direction is an ultimate Tuscanian countryside, famous views, vineyards, rolling hills... Note the place is quite high on the hills and surrounded by forests - the famous 'Tuscanian views' are a little bit below. The only small disappointment was the absence of direct views from the property: only a few rooms enjoy windows towards the vineyard, for the rest the view is obstructed by greenery. So, relaxing in a room or on a terraces observing sun going down is not something you can do - but such places (and good ones) are literally minute away. For the rest, you get good Tuscanian breakfast, spacious and characteristic room with good furniture, clean air and very quiet 'country' road at the doorsteps of the property. The bathroom was a little bit cramped and calls for upgrade, but ideally clean and still quite welcoming. The furniture in the common hall could be upgraded too, just to give the place the real glow, but it is quite ok as it is now. Staff is welcoming, competent and helpful.

Great centuries old property, very clean and well maintained. A bit further from the old town center than expected, most would drive and park. You must take advantage of the 5 euro breakfast, great selection with caring service!

It is a very romantic place in the midle of Toscany. It is very close to Castellina in Chianti with its restaurants and wine shops. Rooms are spacious and clean. There is a swimming pool and bar. We stayed in Salivolpi and made a tour across Chianti region- Radda in Chianti, Siena, Gaiole- small and cute toscan villagies. We bought couple bottles of delishes Chianti Classico. The only disadvantigase of this hotel is a lack of air conditioning. Very close to hotel is located an excellent trattoria - IL FONDACCIO DAI DOTTORI.

It was our first time in the area and the hotel was lovely and staff very friendly. Our only complaint was the heat - there was no air conditioning and it was impossible to keep the windows open with the amount of mosquitoes. It was also a bit out of the town, which was not good in the heat (30s) and given the hills. It coincided with the website and was just as pretty, unlike other hotels we stayed in on this trip. There is no restaurant but they have a good bar and give local recommendations. If you can take the heat - a definite must! (the pool is freezing for cooling down!)

Beautiful location, very typical. Unfortunately they gave us their smallest room (no. 26) with only one very small window. For a reasonable price you can get an excellent breakfast. Very friendly and competent employees.

Lovely restful location. Helpful staff. Lots of up market cars in the car park. High quality continental breakfast. Very nice pool area. 10 minute walk into town, and 15 minute walk uphill back from the town. Good quality pool towels provided at small extra charge.

The towel warming rack was nice for drying our room-laundered underware. The breakfast was outstanding, including the friendly service of the lady taking care of the kitchen.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Salivolpi. The rooms were charming, the bathroom and shower had plenty of room and hot water. Breakfast with Graziella was a pleasure each day! The surrounding views were spectacular and the town itself is lovely. It sits in an area that makes day trips to Sienna, Florence, Lucca, etc. a breeze. It was lovely to come "home" each evening and sit with friends in the lobby, recapping the day and sharing a bottle or two of chianti. Highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to return ourselves.

Exzellente Athmosphäre, äußerst freundliches Personal, große Räume, die Gartenanlage ein Traum. Siena ist nahegelegen, das Hotel bietet sich als Zentralpunkt an.

Rural location, a small town in the hills of Chianti, located atop a high plateau. Convenient for our day trips to Sienna and San Gimignano. Nice grounds for relaxing at the end of the day.

Great location, lovely ambiance, however, could hear conversations in adjacent room. Would stay there again.
