nearly in the outskirts of Cassino, that is not an interesting town. No secure and reserved parking area avialable, I had to park the car on the road in front of the hotel

A nice place to stay for visting the monastery of Montecassino. Everything was clean and the service quite friendly. The breakfast is typical italien but sufficient and the have a nice restaurant in the hotel for dinner.

Excellent hotel, great location. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying here. Very clean and large, our bedroom had a balcony/terrace area that we hadn't expected.

hotel la pace was not what i expected, it was very run down, some upgrading was taking place while we were there, the breakfast was very poor, and the dinner i had in the restaurant was the worst i had in all my many trips to italy. the staff in the restaurant were rude, the food left a lot to be desired.theres not a lot to do in cassino except to visit the war cemetries, and the monastery. my advice is dont go to cassino unless you really have to.

We spent a week staying in Hotel la Pace, all of the staff assisted us in every way possible to ensure we had a perfect stay.We met People from Ireland,Scotland,New Zealand and all agreed it was a great hotel to stay in.

We enjoyed Hotel La Pace. The spacious room furnished in warm tones 'felt' more expensive than it was. Our room had a view of the monastery, which was pleasing as we were in Cassino for reasons related to its history. Staff were very helpful, providing us with good directions and details of transport services. Coming from the southern hemisphere, we found the breakfast a little unusual - only sweet foods were served - but this was a minor detail on an otherwise excellent stay.

The hotel is getting to be a little tired but the people make up for that the staff were really nice. We had room 40, it was really nice with big bed and comfy sofa and a huge balcony looking right out towards Monte Cassino

This hotel is conveniently situated in a quiet street in a charming town. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to park our car in the street in front of the hotel. The rooms were a good size and we loved the small balcony off the bathroom where we were able to dry our clothes.

We just returned from a two night stay at the Hotel La Pace. Unfortunately, our superior class room looking nothing like the pictures on venere, the hotel's own web site, or the hotel brochures. Perhaps they were taken 20 years ago. Our balcony did have a lovely view of the abbey, but it was off the bathroom, not the bedroom. We would not have spent time on the balcony in any event since it faced a busy and sometimes noisy street. Our bathroom had a small shower, nothing like the bathrooms shown in the hotel publicity. On the positive side, staff was very courteous and parking was convenient.

Whilst our room was comfortable and spacious, the quality of the hotel's restaurant was very poor. We had the worst meal of our six week stay in Italy at the restaurant. It was dreadful. Very disappointing indeed. Although listed as a restaurant, it appeared to be a take away pizza bar. The lasagne we were served appeared to be days old. The background noise of two TVs showing soccer games did not help our mood. If other facilities aren't great, good food leaves a lasting impression. The location of the hotel was fine, and staff at reception were helpful on arrival. As we were tired from travelling, we opted to eat at the hotel - a bad mistake!

We were so unhappy with this hotel that we stayed only stayed one night instead of the 4 that we had reserved. There was a disgusting odour at the entrance of the hotel. The lobby had curtains so grey they had probably never been cleaned. Coming off the elevator to our room we were met with piles of packaged towels thrown on the floor, as well as a bucket and mop. The carpet in our room was dirty and worn right through. We almost didn't stay the one night, if it hadn't been lack of other accomodation. We had expected a three star rating to at least be a clean hotel.

First of all the welcome to La Pace was warm and genuine, the chap on reception at the time spoke very good English and was happy to help me out with my non-existant Italian. I believe our room was a superior double although I had only booked the standard, but the hotel was nearly empty being low season so I suspect we had a free upgrade. The room was wonderful, clean and had a lovely view of the Abbey and castle. The bed was huuuuuge, brilliant, I didn't have to kick my partner back to his own side during the night :) The bathroom had a toilet, shower and bidet but no bath. The shower was beautiful with lots of room to move around. The heating in the room was most adequate and kept us warm during the cold evenings/nights. Our particular room did not have a balcony but this really didn't bother us. The window has a large blind which is controlled electronically by a switch on either side of the bed, so you don't even have to get up in the morning to get a good look at the view. BTW, if you are unlucky enough to get a room without an Abbey view, chances are you would be overlooking a piece of waste land plus the hotel car park... Breakfast was buffet style and consisted of pastries and yoghurts and sometimes there was cheese and ham. Coffee was from a vending machine so I didn't find that too special. The restaurant didn't appear to be open at this time of year so we had to eat out in the evening. The hotel location is north of the town and about 15 mins walk from the main shopping and eating area. The car park which is advertised is actually half a dozen or so spaces allocated behind the hotel off a side street. Finally, don't judge this book by its cover, the building from the outside is extremely uninspiring and does nothing to advertise the goodies inside. I would not hesitate to recommend La Pace to anyone, and if my travels ever take me back to Cassino, then I will be staying here without a doubt.

This was a great hotel. We were only there 8 hours in route to Pompeii, but we were very happy during our short stay. Really nice staff and good breakfast. Actually had meat and cheese available. Room was very nice and view was fun to wake up to in the morning. Note to American travellers: Venere seems to support hotels charging non-Italians more. We witnessed locals paying substantially less for rooms in hotels we were staying in twice during our vacation. Not at this hotel, but others. Make sure to get your passports back each time you check in. They will try and keep them, this caused us to leave our passports behind at this hotel. They were extremely helpful getting them back to us, but it was a pain for all. At the end of your stay, you have to tell them you are leaving (they will not assume even though you give them your key and it is the last day of your stay that you are checking out). You have to give them a credit card to check out. Just because you gave a credit card on Venere, does not mean you paid. Since American hotels do not require check-out, this created a lot of confusion for us during the first few days of our trip and we had to backtrack to pay for hotels we had left. Have a nice trip, keep your wallet and passports extremely safe and take care not to speed if driving even though all Italians do.

We were pleasantly surprised by our hotel room. It was very spacious, spotlessly clean and with a great view of the Abbey. The staff spoke good English, parking was no problem and the information we received prior to leaving home regarding location and information about Cassino was excellent. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Having requested a room with a view, was extremely disappointed at being given a room with no view at all -- in fact there was frosted glass in the window, which gave onto a blank wall. The room was comfortable, and spacious, but very, very dark -- with virtually no natural light. The bathroom was very small and why do so many Italian hotels provide only tablecloths for towels?! Being out of season, there was also a lot of building work going on in the hotel, and they started drilling at about 0800, so no lie-ins. Breakfast was ok, and the staff friendly. Just such a disappointment with the room, but luckily there only for one night.

Thanks to the existing review we ignored the outside and went for it! The room was surprisingly well furnished and comfortable with a view of the Montecassino Abbey. The entire hill had been subjected to a brush fire and a storm was raging when we visited it, so it was a kind of son et lumiere experience! The abbey is not to be missed... huge and very high. The hotel management appear to be making quite an effort at renovating the outside and deserve support. The restaurant was vast so we chose the annexe as most of the town seemed to be there, but the food was good and the experience very enjoyable. Nice helpful staff. Parking at the back is insecure but near to the hotel rear entrance and easy to get to. There is a lift. There were some interesting war memorabilia in the foyer. It was perfect for a one night stop on our drive south and easy to find from the motorway. We enjoyed our stay.

This hotel may look a little shabby on the outside, but don't let this fool you. The rooms are newly renovated and of high class. The relatively large TV had CNN World, which is much appreciated! After a week of trying to understand Italian news you really long for some English... Breakfast was ok. Lots of single-serve plastic packages with different types of bread and pastries, but also "real" bread, yoghurt and müsli. The front desk has a computer with internet connection that can be used free of charge. We recommend this hotel.

My family and I stayed at La Pace on a trip from Naples to Rome. This was a very good choice. The room was all that we required with a price that was much better than Rome or Naples. The covered parking is not covered anymore though. Do print the map up to find it from the Autostrada. I would stay there again and will recommend La Pace to friends.

The hotel stay was pleasant. The room was rather plain, but comfortable, and the staff were helpful and courteous. If I were going to be in Cassino again, I would certainly consider staying at La Pace. I would not, however, dine again at the hotel restaurant. Our meal there was, I'm afraid, very disappointing: lasagna that looked warmed over from some days earlier and a veal marsala that was two slices of beef in some plain gravy.
