Fantastic hosts and a great bargain! This hotel is located in a great position to allow one to enjoy one of Ischia's prestigious spa/pool resorts and at a discount thanks to the hotel Gemma. The owner and his family make one feel a part of the family and do whatever is necessary to fulfill a guest's needs. Breakfast includes eggs, as well as the normal cheeses, proscuitto, breads, coronettos, jams, yogurt, etc. I will stay here again and would reccomend to all my friends. We took our car on the ferry, parking was free and having our car made the island completely open to our touring. The Gemma rents cars if you don't take one. Again a great value for the Euro!!!

This hotel is run by a very honest family. Our room was small but very clean and was well air conditioned. But we didn't go to spend all day in the hotel room. We went to explore the area. Being located centrally on the north of the Island we were well placed for visiting the whole of the north area. We even did it on foot. Staff were so friendly, and spoke good English and German as well as Italian. Beer was cheaper than the local bar E2 for a large beer cannot be beaten. The thermal pool was excellent and very clean. Tehy were so nice to us, we even made a mistake and paid too much, he called up asked where we were, then met us at Negumbo Spa on his moped to offer the overpaid money back. Will use again with the kids next time.

Excellent souvenir. Mais Pourquoi donc n'ouvrir la piscine l'après-midi seulement de 16 h à 18 h ?

Gemma is a lovely, family-run hotel. We were warmly and thoughtfully welcomed when we arrived on a very hot day. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel is comfortable, food is good and there is an excellent swimming pool and roof-top terrace on which to relax. We had a room with balcony and a wonderful sea view. There are bus stops in each direction only c. 40 metres from the hotel with a regular service 10 - 20 mins frequency and the hotel reception sells runabout bus tickets and singles. The hotel is a good 10 minutes walk from the centre of Casamicciola so we chose half-board but access is easy with a car. Strongly recommend this hotel. We'd definitely return. Most guests were italians, some coming back year on year.

Great place to stay. Great staff, Quiet! Easy access to buses and within walking distance to many places to explore. Just a short bus ride to the ferries. One night, the kitchen prepared a great dinner even though we arrived late after exploring the island and it was well past the posted dinner hours! Only downside was the short supply of hot water.

The staffs in Gemma welcomed me with very friendly smile. The most impressive thing is their hospitaliy. They served delicious lunch and dinner with fresh seafood. I could see the seaview from my room balcony and building roof. You can reach there from Ischia prot in 10 minutes by bus (you can ask bus drivers. it's really near from a bus stop). I'd like to stay in Gemma again when I go to Ischia.

We had a very relaxing stay there. The hotel is managed by a very charming family, they always gave us good advice and were helpful for any kind of question. We had the chance to have a big terrasse with view over the sea - only inconvenient: there is a busy road next to the hotel and no direct access to the sea.

This is a good hotel. A traditional hotel with service to your table so forget the buffet style. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel so public transport availability good to explore the island of Ischia. There is also a fruit shop (which also has local wines) just across from the hotel. We had a wonderful stay here.

Hotel staff were most friendly and helpful in all situations. They are all family somehow. Nice pool area, uncomplicated and delicious food. Bus stop just around the corner, what more can you want?

Gemma was incredible. Spacious room and bath, wonderful wonderful food in the restaurant, excellent hospitality from Giuseppe, wife and Gemma (Grandma). Our last morning we had an early taxi and Giuseppe brought our luggage down and then went and prepared 2 cappucinos for us! I can't say enough good things about this hotel. So relaxing, clean and friendly, both guests and staff.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gemma which is a good 3 star hotel. The owner was very welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed the pool and the convenience of the local bus.(It would be hepful if the hotel info gave the bus route numbers as we found the taxis very intimidating when we first arrived on the island). Bar very quiet and seemed to be little used. Excellent restaurant in Casamicciola recommended to us by the owner but taxi needed. Hotel is recommended to those looking for good 3 star accomodation

The highlight hotel of our holiday! If only we'd stayed here longer! Wonderful welcome, fantastic staff, we were the only non-Italians, but were made to feel like members of the family. Nothing was too much trouble, including detailed instructions on traversing Naples on our homeward journey. The food was literally garden fresh - we saw it picked - and cooked to perfection. It was genuine, home-cooked Italian food, with home grown wines and preserves. No wonder fellow Italian guests stay there for a month. The bus from the main port stops vitually outside the door. Our room had a wonderful view across the bay; the shared balcony had areas for sunbathing or we could go up to the large roof areas, or by the pool to relax. We chose this hotel based on the comments we read - and we were delighted. Our only complaint is the Venere map! A large dot on a small island is no help. We definitely intend to return to this hotel.

We enjoyed the good food and family atmosphere of this hotel. The view of the sea from the deck off our room was great. The location is convenient to bus stop and walking to Casmicciola. We would highly recommend the hotel.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at hotel Gemma. This hotel was absolutely beautiful, and we truly felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Gemma is located very close to a bus stop and was easy to find. Upon arrival, we were greeted by name, offered a drink, and engaged in friendly conversation. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a large rooftop patio with inviting sea views. Breakfast in the hotel was also very good. We really enjoyed speaking (in broken Italian) with the various family members working at the hotel. We felt like part of the family, and were sad to leave. I highly recommend hotel Gemma. You won’t be disappointed.

The only bad thing that I have to say is that my stay here was too short. When I arrived, I was overwhelmed at how nice and welcoming the staff was..my luggage was carried up to my room. And if that wasn't enough, the gentleman opened my terrace door and I had the most wonderful patio and view. Such great service, such a wonderful hotel and location, I wish I would have stayed longer. I will definetly return to Hotel Gemma. Thank you all for a wonderful and comfortable stay.

Our welcome at the hotel Gemma was wonderful. The attention we received was more than excellent. After two weeks we did not leave an hotel we left friends. Although we were the only English speaking couple there (this is where the Italians and some Germans go on holiday)we had a superb holiday. The food in the hotel is always interesting, local fresh produce simply prepared to local recipes, lots of different kinds of fish and the local fruit is amazing. A wonderfully friendly family run hotel with excellent service, will definitely return for another holiday.

A hotel were you feel welcome from the moment you arrive until the moment you have to leave. A pleasant stay where the owners and staff treat you as an old family friend. I surely will return to this hotel when I go back to Ischia.

It may be a 3 star hotel, but for the kindness & warmth reception by the owners & staff I would rate it a 5 stars hotel. They do make you feel right at home from the first second you arrive until the last second you have to leave (unfortunately). I surely wil be going back to the Gemma Hotel next year.

Hotel Gemma is an amazing hotel. The owners and staff (all family) were so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely & we always got smiling faces from the lovely girls who worked there. The spa swimming pool & jacuzzi were fab and there was no problem when we asked if my sister & baby who were staying in a nearby appartment could use it. On leaving we were given a bottle of the local wine. We hope to go back to Ischia & will DEFINATELY be staying in Hotel Gemma. Thank you for a wonderful stay from the newly married Irish couple.
