Carcassonne is a fortified French town, in the Aude departement, in the former province of Languedoc. It is separated into the fortified Cité de Carcassonne and the more expansive lower city, the Ville basse.

The town is located 90 km (56 miles) south-east of Toulouse. It stands in the gap between the Pyrenees and the Massif Central of France. Carcassonne is at the crossing of two major traffic routes in use since Antiquity: the route leading from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and that from the Massif Central to Spain, skirting the Pyrenees.

Meeting up with friends in France and touring around the region together. The staff were very welcoming,especially with ten people coming into dinner, and then breakfast again in the morning.

The hotel is a bit basic but it is ok. Our room had no air conditioning. The hotel appears to be on a trading estate and it is quite hard to find even with map. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Etoile Balladins Carcassonne was everything we wanted from the hotel. Convenient location for airport and highways. Plenty of parking space and easy access into the city. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our daughter with a broken leg. Their spoken english was by far better than our feeble french! The food was good and service excellent. The only negative comment I would make was the room became hot in the night and being on the ground floor we were unable to open a window. A ceiling fan would have been very much appreciated. I would certainly stay at the hotel again the next time I visit Carcassonne.

The fist nightmare was to find the hotel. The second was the hotel itself. I kindly suggest to search another option in the city.

The hotel is too far from city center. I do not reccomend for anybody travelling by public transport to stay in this hotel.

Quality vs Price is excellent (38 euros a double room). It's a nice and small hotel located in the suronding-industrial area of Carcasone (not walking distance) but only takes like 5-10 minutes by car to arrive to the center. The rooms are small (without an actual closet, just a bar to put a few holders) but they have a 150cm quiet confortable bed (in the double rooms), and a small clean bathroom with shower. It looked like it has been remodelated recently. If I ever comeback to Carcassone I would repeat my staying in there.

Todo muy bien, solo que deben cambiar el nombre del Hotel en Internet, ya que lo contrate como Etoile y llegar no aparece este nombre. Pase varias veces por delante pero no sabia que Balladins era el mismo hotel.

Coming from the A61 (Des Deux Mers) motorway: take exit n.23, Carcassonne Ouest ZI-Limoux-Mazamet, then the N161 road, direction Toulouse, Mazamet and take the first exit.
Coming from Toulouse or Mazamet: follow direction motorway A61 and take exit Geant Casino Salvaza shopping centre, take the roundabout and pass under the bridge, then take the first road on your left.

By train
From Carcassonne train station a direct bus line leads you to the hotel. You can also reach the property in a 30-minute walk.

By airplane
From Salvaza airport take D119 road for 300 metres, then the N161 road, direction motorway A61 and take exit Geant Casino Salvaza shopping centre. Take Boulevard Denis Papin and take the first road on the left.
