My husband is blind, so we didn't want the bother of getting our luggage up the hill to Capri. Since we arrived in the rain, our decision to stay at Hotel Relais Maresca close to the harbor turned out to be an excellent choice. This hotel is close to restaurants, public transportation and the ferries. We had a sea side room with a large balcony on which we were able to relax after a long walk down the hill from Capri. The rooms were clean and the service excellent. Our rooms also had a large bathroom. This hotel is well worth the money considering the prices on Capri.

We are from Kansas, so the ocean is a real treat. We saw some sites, but actually sitting on the balcony with the view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Island was quite enjoyable in itself. They should change their pricing sheet on the room bar, as the 2 Euro coke was 4 Euros in their system. It was not worth disputing, but up to date pricing should always be the norm.

Hotel Relais Maresca can be seen as your boat enters the pier. It is a gorgeous pier and very touristy. SO, it could be great that it's on the pier or bad, depending upon what you like. It was fine for us because we dropped off our luggage and walked A LOT! We took the funicular up to the town on top and had a marvelous dinner at Michael Angelo's, got a glimpse of local life, the school etc. Walked up and up and onto the other side of the island. Just absolutely stunning. Then went back to our hotel and went to bed. It may have been miserable climbing so many stairs with our luggage. The terrace restaurant at our hotel, overlooking the sea was closed. That was disappointing, but the hotel is probably the best on our entire trip.

The air conditioning worked poorly - with running system the room was still 27 °C hot! The bath tub handles were very worn, the room looked like there was nothing changed since the 60´s! May be nice for Capri but not for this room rate...

Room 41 was excellent with a roof terrace. Amazing views over the bay. A great way to start our holiday.... Check in was quick and painless, but check out was far from ideal. The receptionist wasn't friendly, bordering on rude and we weren't allowed to see the bill until we had actually paid! But besides this, we would stay there again and would recommend to others.

Hotel was extremely nice, room very spacious, and the location is the best for a first time visitor to Capri. The breakfast was disappointing because the service started a little late for me (it was open on time, but was generally not ready until 800a). Otherwise, a great view and a great stay.

Relais Maresca's excellent location does much of their work for them. When asked for a recommendation on where to have lunch in Capri Town, the desk clerk wouldn't give us one, instead recommending that we eat at the hotel (which is not in Capri Town). Also, the wireless internet wasn't working, with no explanation given - just 'feel free to use our internet point for 5 euros every 30 minutes.' This is a small complaint but for a 4-star hotel these two things were a damper for the most expensive reservation we had out of 3 hotels during our trip. A 3-star in Sorrento had them beat on price, service, competence -- everything but location, which is indeed as beautiful as the pictures indicate. I imagine they aren't the only ones who can skate by on Capri and let the location do the heavy lifting, but I wouldn't go back.

The room was very chilly in the afternoons when no heat was available. We received more blankets but they were not that useful in the afternoon. They did help at night. In September the upstairs seems to only be used for breakfast and not for any other meals or service as is advertised and shown on signs.

Great hotel, right on the marina, where the ferries come in. Beautiful and very spacious room and a lovely rooftop terrace where the breakfast is served. The only two issues (easily solved) are first: the arrangement of a secure area for leaving luggage. At present you just leave it in a communal area next to the reception and the entrance, and that does not seem very safe. Second, better service during breakfast. It is completely based on self-service at present, and the topping up of food, coffee and hot water for tea is not done very frequently. It makes a huge difference to see some friendly faces in the morning! Over all, however, an excellent hotel.

The Relais Maresca is a nice hotel, very conveniently located on the Marina. It is only a 2 min walk from where you get off the ferry, which was much appreciated after a bumpy hydrofoil crossing! The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is located within 2 min walk from the bus stop and the cable car for getting to Capri centre and Anacapri, which was very convenient. The hotel was more expensive than other hotels we stayed in in Italy, but that is to be expected in Capri. The room was also more expensive since I requested a room with a sea view - but it is worth it to get a beautiful view from your balcony in the morning.

Good value for the money. Spacious and clean rooms and bathroom. Very conveniently located right next to the Marina Grande but a little far from Downtown Capri and from Anacapri. You can always rent a scooter next door to move around the island. If you want a room with a view, make sure you make it clear in the reservation.

Our main complaint about Relais Maresca is that we woke up after our first night to ants everywhere. The ants were crawling down the walls and had gotten into our clothes, which ended up popping up throughout the rest of our trip. We asked to switch rooms but we were told the hotel was fully booked so we couldn't switch. Housekeeping sprayed some bug repellant, and after the first day we only saw a couple ants here and there, but it really put a damper on our stay on Capri. While the location of Relais Maresca is extremely convenient when you first get to Capri (it is right in Marina Grande), if we were to return to Capri we would stay elsewhere because Marina Grande is by far the least desirable area of Capri. We did enjoy the sundeck at the hotel (and took advantage of it each day we were there) and the breakfast buffet was pretty decent.

We had a sea view room with a fantastic view of Marina Grande. It was an excellent location-directly in front of the marina and beach (Marina Grande). The rooms are decorated in relaxing color schemes. The top floor has a beautiful place to sit and look out over the Marina. It is extremely close to everything except night life (Note that you have to either take a cab or take the little train up the hill or walk about 20 minutes to get to the night life).

The main bonus was that it is right next to the marina, so not far to go once you're off the boat. That's important if you have lots of luggage! I think probably 10 years ago it must have been the poshest hotel in town, but I think it hasn't been updated since. I feel it was overpriced for what it was. I think a bit of renovation/modernisation would lift it a lot. I would praise its breakfast - the biggest choice by far in comparison with all the other hotels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The internet wasn't free - expensive as well! You do have a nice view from the top floor in the evening when the daytrippers disappear. There are few places open to eat in the evening at the marina area (maybe 3-4 restaurants?) BUT where we did eat it was the best meal of our whole italy trip. Also I would recommend booking a table...I had to do a bit of pleading to get them to fit us in :) as it is very busy.

The hotel was definitely what was described in the other comments. Beautiful, clean, and very close to our arrival port. The front desk was VERY helpful and recommended great restaurants and how to get around the island. I would definitely stay here again even if its not in the "middle" of everything on the island because it was so easy to get off the ferry and check in versus being like other people having to trek all over to find your hotel. Very easy, clean, and honestly didn't mind not having a view of the water because really wasn't at the hotel much. The rooftop deck is gorgeous and fun to have breakfast or cocktails on. We brought a bottle of wine up there on our last night and just hung out which was great too.

This is an excellent hotel on the marina and just a few minutes walk from the ferry boarding point. The staff was very welcoming and gave us a detailed map and useful information on Capri. The room was superb with a mediterranean feel and views of the sea. Price was high but given generally high prices in Capri, it was worth it for a hotel of this quality.

Overall, the staff was very friendly, and the hotel was beautiful. Our terrace room was much nicer than I had expected. We had an amazing view and a great amount of space. Unfortunately, the hotel is right over the harbor and therefore smells of diesel fumes a good deal of the time. Also, the hotel is not equipped for heavy rain. There was a large rain storm one of the nights were there, and the hotel flooded, both in the lobby and in our room. Luckily the floors are tiled, so things dry quickly, but all of our things on the floor were soaked in our room. The hotel did not offer to compensate us in any way for this issue. Given that our computer bag was on the floor and the computer almost got wet--we got home just in time--we thought the hotel should compensate us in some way.

The stay on Capri in the Hotel Relais Maresca was one of the highlights of our 2 week trip to Italy. The Hotel Desk Staff was the most friendly and helpful of anywhere we stayed. They we extremely engaging and offered many suggestions on things to see on Capri. The hotel is just right next to the marina grande and funicular train, very easy to find. There is also a rent-a-scooter shop next to it, I highly recommand people riding scooter in Capri (if you know how to ride one). We had the standard room, so it's facing the court yard, no ocean view. However, it doesn't bother me because in Capri, you won't want to stay in your room. The room is clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and informative. Breakfast is ok, not as good as other one-star hotels I stayed. Overall, it's in a good location and if you're looking for a bargain room in Capri (hotels in Capri are expensive), this is the one.

Most expensive of our hotels in Italy; not necessarily the best service. We had a double room with a balcony and beautiful view of the marina and Vesuvious. The room was clean and bright and the double sized walk in shower was wonderful. The roof terrace for breakfast has spectacular views but the staff were a bit slow off the mark. Spent hours watching the boats coming in each day with all the thousands of day tourists - did make the harbour very crowded and best avoided during daylight hours, as was Capri town.

We had a wonderful time at the Relais Maresca and on Capri. The staff was extremely helpful in assisting us with exploring the island, especially since we had a limited Italian vocabulary. When we had dinner on the terrace, there was a private party, but they let us stay anyway, and brought us samples of many of the dishes served at the party. The price of our room was about as high as we could afford, but I realize that the location is part of the reason. I must admit we were a little put off by the pricey stores, restaurants, and attitude that has taken over the center of Capri. It was not like that in the past... We recommend exploring the beauty of the island on foot...

The hotel is very conveniently located. We had 3 heavy bags and were only staying for one night. It was very easy and inexpensive to get our bags transported from the ferry from Positano to the Relais Maresca. We were so relieved to see that our hotel was so close to the ferry. The rooms are immaculate and beautiful. We had a gorgeous (as most of the rooms do) ocean view. The facilities were excellent. We were thrilled with the Relais Maresca.

Romantic, friendly and efficient!! My Boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of November for a birthday suprise. We had a lovely immaculate room with a great sea view and had a personal note from the Hotel Manager (Amedeo) wishing my boyfriend a happy birthday and a pleasent stay, Such a nice touch we thought. The hotel staff were very friendly and always offering to help us out, location is brilliant, 1 min walk from the nearest Cable-car for the Piazzetta Square. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and if we ever go back we will definately stay here again.

First time in Capri. Had a great time. The hotel is easily accessible from the pier where you arrive in Capri. However, there is not much shopping within walking distance aside from the usual tourist souvenir stores and pharmacies. It is however conveniently located near the bus station and also the funicolare (cable car) that will take you to Capri Centro, where all the shopping is. It's only a 15 mins bus ride to Capri Centro. The views from the rooms is fantastic. Though it's not the same as the elevated views from Anacapri, for the price you're paying, you really can't complain.

The property and the rooms are MUCH prettier than we expected. I'm sure there are much pretier parts of the island to stay, but the location works for things to do and getting to the funicular. We only stayed one night and needed to be on the early boat so the location was perfect. The room was HUGE, and VERY pretty, the bathroom was just as nice. We left too early for breakfast, but the desk person made us capuccino since we had a few minutes to wait for the boat-a VERY nice gesture. Overall, it was a VERY nice stay, a wonderful place with a beautiful, huge room.

Cpari is an expensive town, but this hotel is a DEAL. You ahve to take a tram up to Capritown every morning, but it is so close, and kinda fun (it is a cable-car). Honestly, you get off the boat, and can walk right to the hotel fornt desk. You don't have to owrry about all the terrible hotel pages, renting expensive couriers, trucking all over the island in impossibly small "roads". If you want a convenient, clean, nice, friendly hotel that puts you right where you want to be, this is it. It is easy to go into town at night for a great meal, and then walk the steps down, or take a taxi (both inexpenive) There is also a GREAT family run restaurant right on the marina too, so you really don't have to worry abotu eating in town the whole time if you choose. Check them out, it is a very nice option.

Capri is a very expensive island and this is a fabulous hotel for the price. The location is good as it is convenient to the marina and to the cable car to get to Capri. Also the bus stop to get to Anacapri is located out front as well. The rooms are a little "dated" but they are clean and the hotel staff is very helpful. An excellent property right over the water. All rooms seemed to have excellent ocean views. The rooftop lounge served us well on several occasions. I wasn’t sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but the hotel was wonderful. The staff was amazing and the room & view were breathtaking. Please take the advice and pay the extra $$ for an ocean view room, you won’t regret it. My only note would be that there is some street noise from the harbor and cars, however it didn’t really bother me and I didn’t smell any gas fumes from the boats in the harbor. The room & bathrooms where very spacious and very clean. Had a great time and would defiantly stay here again. 3 Days was too short for this beautiful island, and don't forget to check out the Blue Grotto...amazing.

ENGLISH - excellent hotel and staff, just 100 meters from the docks overlooking the sea. If I were going to Capri again maybe I´d stay in town, where restaurants and bars are open till late what does not happen to Relais Maresca area but I would pay much more for sure. The room was clean and a decent size, the bathroom was big and the price was right.

We enjoyed our stay at this fantastic hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. The location was great, close to the ferry and close to the funiculare to reach center of Capri. The rooms were spacious and very clean and the staff friendly and eager to help!! When we return to Capri we will stay here again!

Excellent hotel! I would stay there again. It was close to the port where ferries from Sorrento arrive. It's close to the buses and the funicolare to go up to the main square in Capri. The room was beautiful and the bathroom spacious and clean and bright. Excellent service. Unfortunately, the roof terrace was not yet available because they were making repairs in preparation for the upcoming season. It was still a wonderful experience.

The rooftop terrace, friendliness of the staff, and FREE INTERNET in the lobby made this hotel one of our favorites. Its worth every penny to pay a little extra for an ocean view room. Even though it was only a double, the room easily accommodated 3 people and included a surprisingly spacious bathroom. The decor was fabulous - I think I took as many pictures of the hand painted tiles as I did of the town of Capri! Word to the wise - forego a taxi or bus ticket to get into town. The Funiculare is the way to go. Its cheaper and just steps (literally 20 feet to the right of the hotel lobby) away from Relais Maresca. With its easy access to both the harbor and town, myself and my travelling companions HIGHLY recommend this fantastic hotel!!

Location is excellent just up from the harbour and right beside the cable car for Capri town. Hotel is excellent very clean ,lovely rooms. Views from the hotel are fantastic, having your breakfast (which is very good) on the sun terrace is just heavenly. Staff are very helpful and friendly. For Capri the cost is very reasonable. I will certainly be back and would recommend to anyone. For food you should try Da Gemma just behind the church on the main square in Capri town. It is one of the best restaurants in Capri and is very resonably priced.

The hotel upgraded my room at no additional cost, which was a treat. The room was lovely with a full modern bath. The hotel is next to the port and steps from the funicular. I loved it there!

For Capri this hotel was very reasonable. The room was clean and nice, however the first room we were given the a/c didn't work and it was really hot. After some persistance we were given another room, but it was much smaller than the first, and for the same rate. The hotel is very centrally located though.

Even though breakfast, which is included in the hotel rate, was very good, the restaurant could be improved. I had lunch when I first arrived and the view is wonderful but food was not that good.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The only negative? There are a limited number of rooms that have an ocean view and you can expect to pay significantly more per night if you want one of these rooms. The view from our room was across a small space directly into another room. This made our room a little too dark which is not what you expect at a beach property. Although we did not spend a lot of time in our room, it would have been nice to have a better view with a little more light.

The lady at the reception when we arrived was a little distant and not very helpful, there was a lady at the desk asking about exchanging money and we felt the receptionist was not very helpful. Our room was beautiful and quiet, if we closed the windows and shutters. This hotel was relaxing and the room service and breakfeast service were excellant. I was travelling with my elderly mother who uses a walker and all of the areas were easily accessible to her.

A lovely Hotel with friendly staff. The room was cosy with a maritime touch, the bed was fine to sleep in, and the bathroom clean and with a shower. We recommend you book a room with oceanview, preferably on the third floor, the terasse was spacious and view just breathtaking. Compared with the prices the hotels in town charges The Relais Maresca is a good place to stay, and Capri is just 10 minutes away on the "funicolare". The breakfast buffet can be eaten in the roofterasse or indoor, and the selection is wide, with youghurt, serials, bread, cheese, sausage, fruit, and a selection of cold and hot beverage. We would stay there again if we should travel to Capri another time.

The hotel is clean and nice. Unfortunately some rooms (standard ones) have windows looking to a yard and in Capri this is a capital sin! Service is accurated and staff is really kind and attentive. A very nice staying.

Beautiful hotel. The service was fantastic, and the room was beautiful. For 150 euros it better be though! It was my biggest splurge on the trip, and i think it was the nicest place i stayed at by far. Location was super easy to find, and not that big of a deal being in the main harbor. Only thing better would have been a view in the city.

While the hotel is not located right in Capri town it is right next to the ferry port and so is incredibly convenient when arriving and departing. The funicular railway into Capri town is a 1 minute walk away and so you can in be town in a matter of minutes. Many of the the things you'll do when in Capri leave from this port - boat trips around the island, trips to the Blue Grotto and buses to Anacapri, so location wise I actually preferred staying there than in town. There are restaurants that are walking distance along the waterfront which are very good, so you don't have to go far (or into town) to eat. There are few actual beaches on Capri and one of them is in front of this hotel. Reading other reviews I was concerned about noise levels, however we asked for quiet rooms and we couldn't hear a thing. The staff were nice, accommodating and helpful. Drinks on the roof terrace at sunset are lovely. I had major reservations about the location given it wasn't right in town, but funnily enough it is actually closer to the centre of town that some hotels that are advertised as being in Capri town. It is so conveniently located for getting anywhere else on the island, and for arriving and departing. Don't underestimate the hassle factor in getting your luggage to and from your hotel through narrow windy lanes and negotiating with porters and dealing with buses and taxis. All in all I really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it.

The staff was very helpful. Very convenient location – just a short walk from the dock. We had a tremendous view of the harbor. Noise was never an issue. Very nice breakfast. We had drinks before dinner on the roof – great view. The room was much bigger than we expected. Everything was very bright and clean, but you better like yellow. We would definitely stay here again!

The Relais Maresca was absolutely amazing! The map didn't quite reflect just how close the hotel is to the harbor -- it's just up the steps next to where you disembark from the ferry/hydrofoil. Some people may find that a downside, we found it as a wonderful bonus. The views from the room were incredible. The room itself was lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who has the opportunity to visit the beautiful isle of Capri.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! This place sucks. It is quite literally on the port, so there is constant noise all day, and a wonderful aroma of diesel fumes... If you prefer to feel sick on your holidays then this is the place for you. The actual hotel wasnt that bad but the location was absolutely terrible. The staff are awful, the breakfast is dire. At night nowhere is open to eat, you have to continually keep taking the funicular into Capri town. It sucks. We got fed up and moved out straight away - and moved to HOTEL LUNA, which we can heartily recommend, for the same price you will be amazed at the difference. Once again, I emplore you, avoid at all costs unless you are: a) a sadist b) wanting a quick divorce from your new wife c) completely stupid MR & MRS Ed (Devon, UK)

We stayed in a spacious superior room overlooking the street and the harbour. The noise of the streets only intruded when we had the windows open, so it was actually a GOOD thing to be so close to the action when we wanted--we had ring side seats to the action on the street and the harbour. We would definitely stay here again.

We got a better room than booked (upgrade) - probably the best in the hotel. The room was rather small, but had a HUGE terrace with panoramic views, from the top floor of the hotel. The staff was nice and quick to respond, but a bit "dry" in tome and manner. Overall, we loved the hotel amd our room.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay here. Our room was huge with a fantastic view of the harbor. We ate lunch (tomatoes, mozzarella, and bread, fresh from the local grocer) every day in our room, because the view and ambience was as good or better than any restaurant. The location is very convenient, as everything is very accessible from the harbor. Plus, we were able to walk to the beach and take a dip in the ocean to cool off in the afternoons. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast every day on the rooftop terrace was heavenly. Spectacular view and delicious food. The one caveat is that we had to keep our windows closed due to the heavy exhaust fumes from trucks and busses passing in front of the hotel. But the A/C was excellent and the air quality in the room was generally quite good.

Generally the hotel facilities was good. but your site donot say that at some room can not see the outside your rate. if I know that I made reservation more high rate room can see the view of capri.because the R.S.hote is in capri. and you had better recommend about that in the night the hotel area is not anything. so if I want to nice dinner i have to go other place by transportaion...

Out stay at Relais Maresca was wonderful. The hotel is classy, and you're in just a couple of minutes after getting off the boat from Naples. This was a big plus because we had a lot of luggage. I recommend getting a room with see view -- they overlook Capri's Marina Grande, which is very picturesque with all the small boats and bigger ferries in it, the crowd coming in and out, the Capri-style taxies waiting. And the silhouette of Mount Vesuvius on the horizon. One of the best things of Relais Maresca is the terasse on the roof of the hotel. The wonderful buffet breakfast including traditional coffee, cappuccino and freshly baked croissants, fruits, and many other things to choose from is served there, and it's also a bar to relax in the hot evenings. We're back soon, for sure! :)

The hotel was excellant. The rooms were very clean and the staff would return in the evening to turn down the beds. We had a great sea view from our room,as well as the roof top were we had breakfest every morning. The entire staff was very kind and helpful during our stay. When I return I will stay there again.
