The room was clean but very small. The breakfast was a buffet offering different basic things but not in line with a 4 stars hotel. If you have lots of luggages the walk from the funiculare station to the hotel can be quite a walk. If you have just one suitcase, the walk is ok (cars are not allowed in the area). One of the staff at the reception did not have lots of patience to give us information about the island. All in all my stay was ok and I had a clean room after my day of visit around the island. So if you have a promotion offer I will recommend the hotel but if you pay the "normal" price I think you have better 4 stars hotel to choose in Capri

The hotel is nice but the room where I stayed was a little old. Pillows and matress were not so comfortable and bathroom was really old. Altough it was well cleaned everyday it didn't smell so great. Breakfast is very simple. It could be better. I would only return if I could stay in a newer room.

When we were escorted to our room, we were told we were upgraded to include a large patio and jacuzzi. We were thrilled. However, the jacuzzi, although just refilled with water, was filthy. The dirt rubbed off on our suits while sitting in it so we decided to scrap using it. There was black mold above the shower/tub area on the ceiling, the shower/tub had a half glass wall that was hinged to the wall. It moved and it was impossible to take a shower without getting water all over the entire floor. Our king bed (two twins together) was hard as a rock. And my daughters twin bed was no bed at all but a pull out from a chaise lounge. She felt the metal bars under the thin mattress. And we had noisy neighbors both nights. Had to call the front desk to calm the people down the second night. The pictures of the rooms did not depict our room. We had drab brownish tile. The tile grout in the bathtub area needed cleaning as a good bit of it was brown or black. And the breakfast offering was average. All of our other 3 hotels far surpassed it. Nobody came to the table to ask if we wanted cappucino or anything else. The help staff stood a the back wall and watched over the food to replenish it when necessary. No eggs other than hard boiled. Limited pastries and canned fruit. This is an older hotel with what can be lots of charm given the thick plaster/stone walls and arches. The lobby area appears all upscale. I would suggest better beds and better food.

We had a wonderful stay at La Floridiana. Christine at the front desk was especially helpful. It is close to everything, yet, not on a busy, noisy street. Our quad room was HUGE and the bathroom was also. The terrace that overlooked the sea had lovely flower pots and was a great place to relax.

La Floridiana is set in a beautiful setting and fairly convenient to the piazzetta. THe communal areas of the hotel are smart and stylish, but the room I booked (albeit a single) was miniscule, very dark, and the bathroom very small with a broken shower. I'm sure double rooms and suites are much better quality, but I was stuck in the basement with no view other than a wall and it was very noisy - the room backed on to a pathway which seemed to be a thoroughfare for all the golf type buggies which are used to transport luggage etc around the island, and I was awoken at 5am because of this. Overall, I wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel unless I absolutely had to = there's no pool and my room wasn't great - i moved to La Canasta next door and there simply wasn't any comparison

Beautiful, clean, comfortable room with nice view. Beautiful bathroom, all new. Good breakfast with view. You can not drive to hotels, so at the ferry dock they will take your suitcase and bring them to the hotel for you. However, be prepared to pay heavily for this service, we paid 11 Euros for each bag. Also, they say you can use the pool at the hotel next door for a small fee. The fee was 15 Euros each, which for our family of four would have been 60 Euros just to use a pool for a few hours. Take the bus to Marina Piccola instead, beautiful beach with great views.

This was the second time we have stayed at Hotel La Floridiana, and on Capri. Our room, a superior double, with a view towards the sea from the balcony, was bright, airy & very clean, perfect for relaxing after a day's sightseeing, before dinner. There are plenty of restaurants in easy reach. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again, and hopefully will.

We travelled in Italy for 23 days, and our hotel evaluation is relative to other 10 hotels we stayed throughout this period. DIRECTION: The hotel can be accessed by CABLE CAR from the port (4.5 euro or buy the pass), but on the hotel information, this was not mentioned. (The luggage can be sent from the port. You don't need to carry.) Since we don't know any of this, we took the taxi with all the luggages from the port to the city center (15 euro). However, after the city center, it can be accessed only by walk. The hotel can be accessed from city center by walk for 10-15 minutes with the direction provided by tourism information center. CONDITIONS OF ROOM (We stayed in Junior Suite): Exceeding expectation!! The bedroom is extremely spacious for 3 people. The bathroom has shower room and bath tub in the separate rooms. Our room was at the -2 floor with beautiful sea view, but no lift. In fact, the hotel is under the construction of building an elevator now. The hotel does have laundry services but without dryers. Therefore, it requires customers to stay in the hotel at least 2 nights to finish it. The room does not equip with phone, so we buy SIM card in the store. Before going to Italy, we contacted our cell phone providers to unlock our cell phone so that Italy SIM card can be used on our phones. TRANSPORTATION: The hotel is close to the city center. Therefore, all buses and cable car can be easily reached from there. If costs are the concern, daily transportation pass can be economic and allows to go to Anacapri very conviently.

A very special warm thanks to the receptionist who help us so extremely well despite our early arrival. After telling her that we wanted a restaurant recommendation for our 10th anniversary, she uppgraded our room and booked the most romantic restaurant possible. Staff is competent, but not all of them are friendly and/or helpful. Breakfast, which was quoted as "hot" was not, save for lukewarm boiled eggs. At breakfast, make sure to ask for espresso or cappuccino, else they only have an urn of the worst kind of american coffee at the buffet. Overall, our experience was positive, but next time we may look for another place.

Overall good experience. Good location and wonderful, peaceful view despite distance from the main life. Our experience in the hotel was generally a good one. The lobby is serene and clear with wide glass windows and fresh orchids in the lobby and the breakfast room. The restaurant only opens for breakfast, but they offer room service at the same price. The room had a beautiful ocean view and the balcony was private. The hotel is located among a string of several hotels in a tiny street and is about a 10 min. walk form the funicular - the common means of transportation from the port to the tourist area. They have internet service in the lobby for a fee. Capri can be best enjoyed by scooter or by boat. We strongly recommend renting either one because it allows you to explore the island. We had a peculiar situation during our stay because there was a general strike in the island and the ports, restaurants and businesses all closed the day we were supposed to leave. While the hotel offered us a room for the night at the same rate, they insisted we confirmed our stay by noon; eventhough the word on the street was that business might resume by 6pm. We felt pressured to make an uninformed decision and felt their attitude was somewhat intransigent since we weren't going anywhere unless the ports authority allowed the service to start again. Their attitude was unexpected since one of the reasons we chose the hotel was we had read reviews of previous guests and they mentioned how accomodating the staff had been in unusual circumstances.

We stayed here on a weekday during the quiet season. The hotel was the best value 3 star hotel we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Sicily, Naples, and the Amalfi coast. This well-kept and pleasantly furnished hotel is in a quiet location a short distance away from the town centre. We were upgraded to a delightful room with sea-view because work was being done in the reception area. Staff were most apologetic about this although the builders were no problem (try the Glasgow variety for comparison!). In general, staff were extremely friendly and helpful - quite possibly the friendliest we have come across in Italy. The breakfast buffet was rather good by Italian standards; there was even a choice of herbal teas. I'd recommend La Floridiana to anyone.

I will say the staff there are the most amazing people I've delt with. They went well beyond what the normal is and took care of us as if we were royalty from caring our bags from the bus stop to getting one of the finest resturants Capre has to offer to stay open for just us.Also having the kitchen stay open at the Hotel for a late breakfest. I just did a trip all through Italy and stayed at 7 cities and 7 different hotels and have also traveled all over the world and have never had such service. I will absolutely recomend this Hotel to everyone..The Suites were ammazing and view was incredible. Should be a 4 or 5 star hotel

Accommodation excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, with beautiful views out toward the sea. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Good location a little way out of the center of Capri town. Hotel directions were to take the route which led to a long series of steps down to the entrance; however, it is also possible to take another route which replaces the steps with a long sloping walkway. Excellent breakfast, available until 10:30.

CAPRI - A one night stay on the island made the signt seeing far more relaxed. especially when most people disappear after 8. THIS HOTEL - slightly out of the way, which is nice as it makes you find a few other areas and as everything is so close together it's not an issue. It's clean with friendly and helpful staff. Our room with sea view balcony was lovely, a clear view to the horizon. HINTS - Boat trips to the Blue Grotto - go early, the do not tell you that you have to queue for an extra hour+ for the row boats to take you into the grotto. Use the funicular train to get to the main sq, it's found on to the right of the port, tickets are bought slightly further up the road. There's a lovely hidden bar overlooking the main sq.. go up the small steps behind the clocktower. Use the hotels postcode and street into to MultiMap to get easy directions to the hotel.

The hotel itself is pretty nice, but far to walk from the cable car station. (If you want your luggage to be delivered, you have to pay an extra 7 euro) We're greeted with a friendly staff when we checked in, but later we were being served by a staff who was rude, not helpful and cold. The room was tiny, the lady said it's all full that they can't give us a better room with view. Breakfast room is nice, facing the ocean at the balcony. But hotwater from the tank is dirty. It's recommendable if they can offer a superior room to you.

The hotel was lovely with spacious rooms, huge bathrooms, patios with a great view and very clean. There is a long walk from the funiclular/taxi stand to the hotel along a cement path through stores, restaurants, etc. This is a busy thoroughfare, no stairs but a steep incline, at times, going towards the hotel. The hotel contracts out a service that will take your bags from hotel to funicular/taxi for 3.5 Euro per bag but they need advance notice- not sure if they will pick up bags and take to hotel as well. Ask if interested. Breakfast was pretty good for Italy with the best coffee we had on the entire trip. All cold foods but good variety and quality. Dining room was beautiful overlooking the water, all windows, great view. Easy to take a walk along the coast to see the natural beauty of Capri- it is just gorgeous and very peaceful. The service at the hotel was variable - the evening when we checked in the person was not friendly or helpful and almost brusque. We waited until the morning and that person was very friendly and helpful. There was no one to help with our bags (no elevator and many different levels) when we checked in - we assumed because it was not peak season yet. Very nice hotel, variable service but would definitely recommend.

This hotel was amazing - we thought we got a great deal for this huge room with a safe and huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub which was much needed. The balcony also had a great view. It was confusing and a little out of the way to find(in comparison to the instructions given) but once you find your way it is easy. This was definetly the pinnacle of our trip and would definetly stay there again if we could get the same kind of deal!! The hospitality was also really good and they offer a service to have your luggage brought to the ferry for a small price - well worth it!!

It was in mid Oct04. For a budget traveller this hotel is already quite luxe for me and I therefore paid accordingly when I was advised that my room has been upgraded for an extra 15.00 euro p/night to a double with bigger bathroom for 105.00 euro ; Hard to resist, but I had a resful stay in La Floridiana. The panorama from the picture windows looked like paradise. Seagulls crisscossing above with the sea in the background, and the wonderful fragrance of Capri wafting through the room. Truly a sight to enjoy and remember. However, I don't know why so many italian hotels do not let you control the temperature of your room. The A/C is set at a standard 25 C, which was too cold. Fortunately there was a ceiling fan. Also, the breakfast at the hotel was terrible. A suggestion: there is a porter service at the Marina Grande which can transport your luggage to your hotel. I wish the hotel had advised me of this when I called for directions, schlepping through Capri with luggage in tow was hot and tiring.

This hotel was amazing! Capri is a beautiful place and La Floridiana made it even more beautiful. The pictures on the site do not do it justice. When we arrived, we were floored by the beautiful dining room with floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the mountains and ocean. Even better was the fact that our new best friend, Valerio, upgraded us from two standard doubles (which were clean and nice with big bathrooms and balconies with lounge chairs) to a huge two bedroom/two bathroom suite with a kitchen and private deck complete with lounge chairs, tables, a swing and beautiful ocean and mountain views. We could not have been happier! The food was tasty (wonderful steaks!), the service was great (reception helped us with everything from reservations to directions to lugging our huge suitcases up and down the stairs (I don't think they have an elevator)) and the location was perfect - close to Capri's main square but just far enough to make you feel like you were someplace "exclusive". It is within walking distance of all of the boutiques, local shops, buses and the cable car. We had a wonderful stay at La Floridiana and would be happy to go back anytime. I highly recommend this hotel!

3 nights in a room with pation but no sea view, very spacious but felt it was a bit dark due to lack of natural light. Further 3 nights in a room with a sea view .smaller but felt much more comfortable. Staff friendly but reserved. Badly need a separate bar area. Breakfast menu could have a wider variety but plenty available.

Our room had a very nice view of parts of the south side of Capri and the ocean. It is on the south side of the ridge leading down to the ocean and Marina Piccola. We didn't have dinner here as the price was quite expensive. There may be no elevator--the bellman lugged our suitcases up one flight of stairs. Like many hotels on the island, it is not accessible by car. There are walkways wide enough for a golf cart-type vehicle to get there and take luggage back and forth. This hotel is about a 7-minute walk on a consistent, but not severe, downhill from the piazetta. And, going back, uphill. We just wheeled our suitcases. The location wouldn't be good for the physically challenged as you wouldn't want to wait for and pay for a cart whenever you went to the piazetta, which is the center of town. At the piazetta you can catch the funicular down the north side of the ridge to the boats off the island. This was a wonderful hotel at the price we paid (100 Euros , late October rate) and we give it very high ratings. It is modern and clean, excellent if you are worried about allergies and dust. Some hotels were already closed in late October, and more were going to close Nov.1. The weather was quite nice at that time, the only disadvantage was that it became dark about 5:00 PM.

Concerning the room, we were quite satisfied. Net, quiet and with a nice view - price/quality relationship is quite good Restaurant is OK, but the prices are excessive when compared with the quality (this opinion is based on only one meal)

We booked junior suite 2nights but we couldn't get proper room as we booked and 2nd day we were transfered to another hotel. It means double booking! I don't trust this kind of booking system any more.

A really lovely hotel. And I liked the breakfast (and especially the view you got while eating it)!

My friend and I stayed at La Floridiana, and we got a room with ocean view. It was 20 Euros more, but it was so worth it! We had a big balcony with lounge chairs and a great view! The room was huge, tastefully decorated, and the bathroom enormous for European standards. Everything was so luxurious for a 3-star. The location was also good, just a 3 min walk to the shops. This was a three-star hotel, but we felt that it should be categorized as a four star. The only drawback was the breakfast, which was lacking (don't expect too much) and some of the service. The girl at the reception had a little of an attitude but that just might be the haupty Capri attitude. I guess that's why the hotel is a 3-star. However, our room and the view were so wonderful that we looked over that. I would go back there again if I have the chance to go back to Capri again!

It was not easy to fint the hotel ( a detail description from the harbour to the hotel will be nice ) The welcome was friendly we reached after short time the romms. The room was clean & nice and the additional 10 € for sea view room is reasonable. Because it have a nice balkon to the sea. The breakfast was good and reasanable for a thre star hotel. Compare with the other hotels and with the price is the hotel a good choose.

Given that it's capri and it's going to be expensive no matter what, this was a good value with great views. There is no pool which was too bad in the heat, and the front-desk staff is not very friendly, but that might just be the haughty capri service attitude. The room had a fantastic view and all the amenities one would expect, and was immaculate. If we came back to Capri, we'd look at other places just to see what was out there, but would have no problem staying here is we couldn't find anything else we'd like.

Don't arrive early (I arrived at 1:30pm) otherwise it is quite often you have to wait for the room to be ready.

I stayed in a double room with sea view for the first night. It was nice. But the single room after that was too small and with no view at all! The hotel restaurant is a kind of german-italian one (an italian restaurant for german tourists). The attitude of waiters was not friendly.

How to reach La Floridiana Hotel
Embarking for Capri from Naples or SorrentoYou can get to Capri:
- from Naples by ferry (the crossing takes about 80 minutes, price approximately €4,50) or by hydrofoil (40 minutes, price approximately €11,00;
- from Sorrento by ferry (the trip takes about 40 minutes, price approx. €6,00) or by hydrofoil (20 minutes, price €8,50).
Transport craft depart Naples from Molo Beverello or from the small port of Mergellina. The most convenient departure point is Molo Beverello, as departures are more frequent and you have a larger selection of ferries and hydrofoils.
By car
Getting to the port of Naples
If you arrive from the north, leave the highway at the Napoli turnoff; take the ring road exiting at Naples, then after 15 km take the turnoff for Fuorigrotta. Bear in mind that non-residents can embark their cars for Capri in the off-season only (normally between November and late March), and only on the ferries. Cars are of little use on Capri, so the best idea would in fact be to leave it in Naples or Sorrento. In Naples, leave your car preferably in an authorised and guarded car park.
By train
There are three train stations in Naples: Napoli Centrale (where the great majority of long-distance trains arrive), Mergellina and Campi Flegrei.
Napoli Centrale is about 2 km from the Molo Beverello; the best way to get there is by taxi (the trip will take 10 minutes and cost about €10,00). Mergellina station is only 300 m from the port of the same name. The Campi Flegrei station is in Fuorigrotta, in the northern outskirts of Naples; in this case, the best way to get to the ports is by taxi.
By airplane
The airport is approximately 7 km from both ports. The best way to reach the points of departure is by taxi. The trip takes about 25-30 minutes and should cost around €25,00 (to Molo Beverello or Mergellina). A less expensive yet comfortable alternative are the CLP (private coaches) that leave every 30 minutes from terminal 1 (arrivals side) for Piazza Municipio. The ticket, which can be purchased on-board, is around €2,00; the trip takes about 40 minutes. Bear in mind that the coach goes to Piazza Municipio, which is a 3-minute walk from Molo Beverello (rather awkward if you have a lot of baggage).
From the port of Capri to La Floridiana Hotel
Once you arrive at the Marina Grande port, go to the Piazzetta. The most convenient way is via the funicular or by taxi. To get to the hotel from the Piazzetta, proceed on foot along the main shopping streets via Vittorio Emanuele, then via Camerelle. At the end of via Camerelle (after the I Faraglioni restaurant), instead of turning left towards the Faraglioni Rocks, follow the sign for the hotel which will direct you downhill. The property is only 40 metres away.
