breakfast to be improved!

Grazie al sito Venere.com ho potuto soggiornare in un hotel 4 stelle a un prezzo ragionevole, soprattutto per Capri.

Hotel Capri is very well located, just in the border between pedestrian area and main road to the marina. Hotel staff are very helpfull and friendly. Room was very spacious. Toilet in the room is small and looked a bit old. Breakfast is quite basic. But we would come back!

Upon arrival, we were greated so warmly and willing to help with any information that we needed. The rooms were extremely well kept and clean. The breakfast was more than we had anticipated. The views from our room were breathe taking. I would highly recommend Hotel Capri and would go back there next year.

The staff was great and each person recommended different restaurants to us, all of which were wonderful. We spent three nights on Capri and we would highly recommend Room 48--great view and two full bathrooms, two-stories, great atmosphere, and up only one flight of stairs to get there. Make sure to request a "Vista Mare" (View of the Sea), otherwise Hotel Capri looses its charm. You can take a cab to the door with your luggage (not possible for 1/2 the island which is pedestrian only), you are a minute form the bus station that takes you to the Marina and Anacapri, and two minutes to the Funiculare. It's not quite during the day, but not too loud at night. Perfect (truly Perfect) location!

The hotel is in a perfect location. It is in the main square of Capri and you can walk to get a taxi or bus to go to Anacapri or to the docks. All the restaurants and shopping are convenient. The hotel was very accomodating - we stayed an extra night for the same price booked on line. The only slight downside is that there is a popular restaurant across the street. I'm a heavy sleeper, so I wasn't bothered, but if noise might keep you up, it could be a bummer for you. The other thing is that there is no elevator, which again was not a problem for me, but it could be for some. The people at the hotel were kind. The breakfast is like any other breakfast at all the hotels - but it served its purpose. If I went back, I would stay there again. my experience was great!

Very nice hotel, fantastic views comfortable rooms but the bathroom was very cramped and careworn. Staff were quite friendly and the breakfast excellent. Set in a lovely location, on disembarking from the ferry you have to get the funnicular> up to the town centre.

Very expensive but very nice place. The staff wasn't very friendly. The room were badly isolated. The breakfast room and the breakfast food were not at the standing of the hotel. But the place is wonderful and the room was very nice.

Was given a twin single bedded room instead of the double that I had booked. Bed covers had holes in them, bathroom small and grotty with black mould growing round bath. Room was directly on busy road. Rooftop sun terrace poorly equipped and covered in bird droppings. In my experience the website photographs do not accurately portray the poor quality of the room. The hotel duty manager was not in the least bit interested in my complaint, so I found alternate accomodation. Since, I am disgusted to find that my credit card has been charged for the full rate despite me not taking the room, or indeed authorising any payment - obviously venere.com had passed on my card details, despite their claim that they do not. This is now being disputed by my card company. In my opinion do not stay here.

A great location with sub-par ammenities. There is no elevator in the hotel which is very inconvenient especially if you have excessive luggage. In addition, the shower didn't work correctly. On the other hand, the stuff is very accommodating and friendly.

The location of the hotel was excellent for us - easy walking to everywhere we wanted to go. The staff was exceptional - they went above and beyond what was expected to make sure we had a wonderful time. Not just one or two staff people, but all that we interacted with, from the cleaning staff to the desk staff.

We were very happy to find this hotel for our one night stay on Capri. The price seemed to be lower than even B&B accommodation (EUR 155, June 2004), and this hotel was rather classy. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the very heart of the town of Capri. The view from the room was breathtaking. The only disadvantage we found was the lack of elevator, but if you can manage walking the streets of Capri, you'll manage the stairs. Service in the hotel was very professional and friendly. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.

the breakfasts were quite a non event with boxed cereals and prepackaged stuff real cheap. The view from the oceanview rooms are quite great and almost make you forget there is no elevator and we are in the 3rd floor

With good quality room, good hotel location and breathtaking view from room, only two short comings: a 2 storey walkup with no lift (was mildly inconvenient for us, could be critical for others) and limited helpfulness from desk personnel, which price could justify.

The employees at Hotel Capri were welcoming and helpful, especially the front desk help. The room, a triple, had an upstairs bedroom and bath and a downstairs couch that made into a bed and shower/bath. It was a very comfortable room. However, because the hotel is located near the center, we heard street noise at night. Compared to several other places that we stayed on this trip, the Hotel Capri was a bit too pricy, although we were quite satisfied with the service, the location of the hotel and the room.

Wonderful, two-storey room with very nice view over the bay. Good atmosphere, nice public areas. Very centrally located. But also a lot of noise on the street in the evening, and when we were there the dinner service in the restaurant was limited.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel in May 2003 and would stay there again. I preferred the view towards Mt. Vesuvius and the Sorrento Peninsula from here rather than the view of just the vast sea and a small glimpse of the Faraglione Rocks like most of the hotels in Capri facing south. The location is terrific as you're very close to the town center and especially for the bus ride up to Anacapri. Service was very good as well. The manager even delivered us with our luggage to the marina below in their Mercedes van without charging us. This hotel definitely met our needs.

How to reach Hotel Capri
By boat
You can get to Capri:
- from Naples by ferry (the crossing takes about 80 minutes, price approximately €4,50)
or by hydrofoil (40 minutes, price approximately €11,00;
- from Sorrento by ferry (the trip takes about 40 minutes, price approx. €6,00)
or by hydrofoil (20 minutes, price €8,50).
Transport craft depart Naples from Molo Beverello or from the small port of Mergellina. The most convenient departure point is Molo Beverello, as departures are more frequent and you have a larger selection of ferries and hydrofoils.
By car
Getting to the port of Naples by car:
If you arrive from the north, leave the highway at the Napoli turnoff; take the ring road exiting at Naples, then after 15 km take the turnoff for Fuorigrotta. Bear in mind that non-residents can embark their cars for Capri in the off-season only (normally between November and late March), and only on the ferries. Cars are of little use on Capri, so the best idea would in fact be to leave it in Naples or Sorrento. In Naples, leave your car preferably in an authorised and guarded car park.
By train
There are three train stations in Naples: Napoli Centrale (where the great majority of long-distance trains arrive), Mergellina and Campi Flegrei.
Napoli Centrale is about 2 km from the Molo Beverello; the best way to get there is by taxi (the trip will take 10 minutes and cost about €10,00). Mergellina station is only 300 m from the port of the same name. The Campi Flegrei station is in Fuorigrotta, in the northern outskirts of Naples; in this case, the best way to get to the ports is by taxi.
By airplane
The airport is approximately 7 km from both ports. The best way to reach the points of departure is by taxi. The trip takes about 25-30 minutes and should cost around €25,00 (to Molo Beverello or Mergellina). A less expensive yet comfortable alternative are the CLP (private coaches) that leave every 30 minutes from terminal 1 (arrivals side) for Piazza Municipio. The ticket, which can be purchased on-board, is around €2,00; the trip takes about 40 minutes. Bear in mind that the coach goes to Piazza Municipio, which is a 3-minute walk from Molo Beverello (rather awkward if you have a lot of baggage).
By public transportation
Once you arrive at the Marina Grande port, go to the Piazzetta. The most convenient way is via the funicular or by taxi. The hotel is only 100 metres from the square.
