Urban Chic Hotel & Cafe - Cape Town

The photos on the webpage must have been taken when the hotel was new as it certainly does not represent the rooms today. The maintenance of the room was terrible. The windows were dirty, the grout in the bathroom discolored, the carpet stained as well as the curtains, and the walls were chipped and every corner of the room was dirty...where it looked like the cleaning staff just didn't get to it. The only 4-star was the view and the linens! How unfortunate to let the property go to ruin. We can imagine that it was once a 4-star hotel, but not now. It seemed as if the hotel was just in the wrong location too...so noisey at night and just across the street from the bars where the young people hang out all night. Wrong kind of clientelle for the hotel and if that is who they have been caterring to, then we can understand how the rooms got to the state they are in. We would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends or relatives and would caution others that they would not be getting what is advertised (room photos/4-star accommodations)and the noise all night from the bars.

I knew when I booked, that the room would be noisey. It is in the middle of a very busy street with night clubs etc. For me it was ok, and they provide ear plugs if you need. It is great place to stay while visiting Long Street. The reception staff are fantastic. they could not do enough for me. Very friendly and chatty. Room was nice. Bathroom was nice and a bit quirky. I would go back. It's not really a place for a quiet night etc. During the day it is very quiet mind you. It's more a place to stay for someone having fun in the pubs and clubs.
