We only stayed one night but enjoyed the hotel location in the ethnic area of Bo-Kaap as it was definitely out of the tourist buzz of Cape Town. The different levels within the hotel made it feel quite cozy and intimate and the day and evening scenery from our small balcony was beautiful. We took a cab out for supper to a nearby Cape Malay restaurant, Biesmiellah, which did not disappoint although both cab drivers had difficulty locating the hotel. The area around had a lovely ethnic feel to it - children laughing and playing in the streets and neighbours chatting on the corners. Breakfast started a little later than was advertised but the food was plentiful and there was lots of choice.

How to reach Signal Hill Lodge Hotel
By airplaneFrom Cape Town IntAernational Airport, take the N2 towards Cape Town city centre. As motorway ends, it becomes the M62 Buitengracht. Pass 4 traffic lights and, after passing the Xtreme car sales company on the left hand side, turn right into Upper Bloem. You will see a brown and white sign board of Signal Hill Lodge, pointing right on the centre island of Buitengracht. Take immediately left into Lower Buitengracht street. At the L Bend on the right the street becomes Carrisbrook. Follow the road until the top of the hill. Turn left into Military Road. We are the last house on the right with a grey fence.
