Hotel Ariston - Paestum Capaccio

The rooms are very large; for a double room we had two double beds. However, the lighting in the rooms was appallingly bad; the public areas and lift had ridiculously dimmed lighting also. We wasted an hour and a half in gloom to be told our broken bathroom light was unfixable; and were finally moved to another room, although I had asked for this to happen earlier considering there were plenty of spare rooms available, being out of season. There was no apology and the reception staff seemed to treat us as invisible guests. Breakfast was in a chilly conservatory area, as the invitingly warm dining room appeared to have been set for a conference. If you ask reception, they do have useful maps of the Paestum archaeological area, but there was no tourist information to be seen in the public areas.

Great place to stay. Restaurant was excellent and well priced. A little isolated from beaches and historical sites, unless you have a car.

Arrivato in albergo, nel letto c'erano del PELI. Avete letto BENE. Il WC non era lavato a fondo. L'aria condizionata se accesa puntava dritta sul letto. Essendo un grande centro che organizza anche matrimoni (ogni giorno da 1 a 4 cerimonie) tu asacivi in CIABATTE E COSTUME e dovevi ATTRAVERSARE gli ospiti del banchetto vestiti in giacca e cravatta: molto frustrante. La spiaggia (descritta in stile maldiviano sul sito) è una spiaggia comune, nulla di eccezionale; e ATTENZIONE!!! : sul sito non è specificato che prenotando solo B&B la spiaggia non è inclusa!!! Costa più di 10 euro al giorno in PIU'. Bella fregatura.

This hotel was a surprise. Physically it reminded me of a US chain hotel -- although it's apparently not one. The room was huge as were the public areas. Paestrum is a small town, and the staff in general were not sophisicated -- but one woman behind the desk was extremely helpful and her English was excellent. The hotel provided us with a great recommendation for a local restaurant that gave us the best meal of our trip. I definitely recommend this place.

The room was enormous and well decorated. Staff was very helpful, though the hotel was empty. Things might be different at a busier time.

This hotel provided us with the basis for the perfect holiday. The rooms are extremely large and the beds well sprung. The pool is very clean and not at all crowded. The staff were very helpful and many spoke good English. The hotel has tennis courts (many unused) a football pitch, a second indoor pool and beauty salon. The car park has an exceptional level of security. We will go back in the future.
