The hotel was clean and welcoming and good value for money. Our only negative comments were: 1. The wifi signal was not strong in our room and very slow. 2. It would have been helpful to know from the outset that the restaurant staff advised that it was preferable to book a table for evening meals - especially at busy times(though we were assured by the Manager on departure that guests staying at the hotel did not need to book).

Room was a bit dowdy in appearance but adequate and location was good.Able to make a cup of tea in our room, always a good thing! Pub aspect was good, able to watch TV and have a drink in the evening.

We stayed only two nights at the Victoria Hotel. The staff is very competent, friendly and welcoming. The hotel is located only a few minutes walk from the town centre. I do recommend the place: the restaurant inside the place is very handy and not really expensive. The food is savoury too ! We've had a very pleasant stay at the Victoria Hotel !

Good value for money and a good spot for a short break while visiting the city. Very handy to major sights, and loads of parking. However, the hotel could do with some general and ongoing maintenance, since it is starting to "sag" at the edges. Attention needs to be applied to mold and mildew in the bathrooms; fixing the bathroom fan so it actually moves the air that it's supposed to move (ie: clean it on a regular basis -- the one in our room was totally plugged with some kind of gooey muck). Fire doors should not be left wedged open --- especially not with a fire extinguisher! It's obvious that ventilation is a problem in the building -- so do something about fixing the problem. Very friendly staff, good selection of beers and a pretty good resturant. No real complaints at all, just concerns at seeing standards potentially sliding.

Loved the room, it looked amazing and was spacious and comfy. The four poster bed was a real treat. The bathroom and loo weren't the cleanest, the shower really needs updating and the noise from generators outside wasn't ideal. Luckily I can sleep through such noises but for those who can't, be warned, they hum all night and you have to leave the window open because the room constantly smells of roast dinners from the carvery downstairs if you don't (or even if you do).
