Avangani Resort - La Bocca, Cannes

No Frigobar in the room.

A 4 star hotel marred by non-existent management that at best achieves 2 stars. Issues: Inconsistent food - same dish with different ingredients on 2 separate nights. Breakfast service uncontrolled - 2 staff covering all breakfast AND Pool service. Ran out of Gordon's Gin - no one of authority to obtain a replacement from stores. "Direct" access to beach is over the main TGV rail line - Noisy 24 hrs a day. Impossible pool or "direct" beach access for pushchair/wheelchair.

The hotel is a renovated 60's facility. Although the overall work is very well done (the halls and general decoraton is of very good taste), some areas were left behind (ie. elevators and stairs). Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the double bed requested and were given a solution on another floor quickly and effectively. One serious down-side is the lack of a mini-bar. Overall the hotel follows the tendency of Cannes and surroundings: over-priced for the quality offered (we've been in better hotels for lower prices just a few hundred kilometers away in the French Riviera).

Anywhere on the French rivera is pricy. So, no complaints,staff were helpful, extremely clean, a lot of facilities on offer. The only down fall, is the location to the main city of Cannes, it is at least 30min walk. Ok if you have a car, though there are also buses that go into town for about 1euro.

We were assigned a room that looked not having been used for a very long time: we found an old candy wrap on a bedside table, a winter cover at the height of summer. The air conditioning was out of order and was not fixed until the next day. Please note that the cheapest rooms are road side and noisy (not well insulated).

I would like to hightliht that Venere offered a good service to me. Unfortunately, staff and service of the Hotel was very poor for a four star. I asked many times for a bed for my baby, since when i was booking, but only on the second day of my stay and after many complain i receive it. They din't also make the room every day.
