We stayed at Soberanis for one night after a trip through the Yucatan, and had a comfortable stay. It's located right in the downtown Cancun, within walking distance of stores, restaurants, and bars. The room was clean and quiet and comfortable. We were staying as a stopover before our flight home, and for this purpose it was perfect. If you want a more typical "Cancun experience" (i.e.- sun and sea), and are willing to spend a little more, you might rather consider Soberanis's sister hotel, Sotavento (http://www.venere.com/hotels/cancun/hotel-sotavento/), which is closer to the beach action. Soberanis is located in a more urban setting- convenient but not necessarily pretty. That said, the transportation in Cancun is good and you definitely can take the bus or taxi from here to anywhere. The restaurant is somewhat generic in decor, but the service was very good, and the food decent and inexpensive. Overall, Soberanis is a great value.
