Hotel Don Guglielmo - Campobasso

En route from Puglia to Rome (home) we decided to see a little of Molise and break up the drive with our 2 kids. Location outside of town was great as we were looking to bask in a final day of luxury and partake of some room service. We were the only car in the parking lot when we pulled up and the staff were not welcoming at all upon arrival at the front desk. We were begrudgingly given a key to the family suite we had booked. However, the room was a standard. Back down to the lobby to request the family suite we had reserved and were told no. When we insisted, they pulled up the reservation and admitted that yes, the family suite had been booked. Back up to same floor but on opposite side to a room that was perhaps 6 feet larger with a loveseat (looking at site now, it is the double room). Realising that the hotel was completely uninhabited and had no services (or strongly perferred not to provide services) we headed into town somewhat laughing at ourselves for getting our hopes up. There was a wedding reception or some large party going on when we returned that evening and it was nice to see some life around the property though they set off fireworks in the parking lot after midnight. No heat or air con available at this time of year (apparently computerised and staff cannot override) so we boiled all night, kids were dripping sweat and couldn't sleep. Breakfast in morning was plain and one staff person seemed friendly to our kids.

There was a large party in the restaurant the night that we arrived and there was noise outside our window into the early morning hours. The hotel property is very nice and modern, but in my opinion it is overpriced for the Campobasso area. The breakfast was virtually non-existent. It consisted of prepackaged dry toasts with jelly, a few cookies and one croissant. There was no juice and I had to ask the front desk clerk for coffee. The person who was supposed to be handling the breakfast had walked away when she saw us approaching. Other than the seating in the lobby, there was no seating in a "breakfast area." The lights were all turned off in the lobby that morning and it made for a very strange experience overall.
