DON'T GO THERE ! First, the swimming pool. It's closed from 1.00 to 3.00 pm! Never seen that before. A minibar in the room is announced. There is indeed a locked fridge in the room; the hotel is not willing to make the key available, arguing they have a bar downstairs. Breakfast is rather poor (old bread, no fresh fruit, "second" quality stuff). We had some words at the beginning of our stay. The management, a couple behind the reception, was clearly unfriendly, which made us cancel our 8-day reservation. Consequently, a discussion developed about the price to pay (8 days instead of 2 stayed), the use of the reservation fee etc, eventually developing in a refusal to give back our identity cards, which we had left upon arrival at the reception for registration. The unfriendliness became aggressivity at that point and - almost unbelievable - the manager (owner?) took off his glasses and "invited" me downstairs, outside the building, to fight it out. I argued that it was not my way of solving disputes and left. Again, summarizing, DON'T GO THERE !!! We moved to another charming place in the vicinity and had a nice vacation.

Plenty to eat for breakfast but no fruit available. The swimming pool did not open until ten o'clock and closed between one and three pm which seemed a bit odd. Our room was small but very clean and comfortable and being on the fifth floor had a wonderful view of the sea. Air-conditioning was extra but reasonable and worth every penny. We used the local bus service (Lazzi)for trips to Pisa, Lucca and for the airport as well. There is a stop about fifty metres from the hotel. There is a lovely garden, well tended with tables and chairs under gazebos for shade. The best part was the roof garden. Comfortable couches under a large gazebo, tables and chairs and some sun beds. The views over the sea on one side and the Tuscan hills over the other were breathtaking. Guests are asked not to use the balconies for drying washing but the hotel provide a laundry and drying area at one side of the roof terrace. Plenty of restaurants about . We loved Le Sole Verdi on the front and La Cantina on Via Italica behind the hotel. Would not go anywhere else in Lido di Camaiore when we return.

The hotel is the most expensive we have used in 5years of visiting Italy and was not up to the standard we have experienced in the past Breakfast was adequate, you had to pay extra for use of the air-conditioning and the swimming pool was only open for around 8 hours a day and was closed between 1-30 & 3-30pm each day ???

We had to leave early because of personal matter but we did really regret it. Actually we think of returning there next year. Very pleasant place with nice personnel. Beautiful region as well. A more detailed location map on the site would be welcome.
