Sallés Hotel Marina Portals - Portals Nous, Calviá

This was the first time we stayed in htis hotel and we found it very good. the local beach and marina are lovely. There is a public bus service outside the door which can bring you to Palma. A lot of golfers use this hotel Overall a very good hotel and good value for money.

We have visited this hotel several times now. As our trip covered christmas in the low season, the hotel was very quiet, so a number of facilities were not available, the main being no restaurant for evening meals. Not a problem for us as we know the local area quite well. As with previous visits, overall this hotel suits us very well, it is situated in Portals Nous centre within a few minutes walk for access to general shops, banks, bars, restaurants, cabs, car hire, bus services to Palma, Palma Cathederal and other main centres, and about 10-15 mins walk to the huge marina and marina side ( considerably longer coming back as it is quite a steep hill). The rooms are good if a bit small, facilities available on this visit such as indoor pool, gym, spa/beauty salon and bar were little more limited than usual due to the time of year. The staff as ever we found to be helpful and efficient,( had a couple of small problems which were resolved very quickly). The buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied. Portal Nous is generally a lively place with plenty to offer but quieter than some of better known resort areas of Mallorca so suiting those of us who don't want the full bars & nightclub life on the doorstep, yet close to those places with a short cab ride if you do fancy a big night out. In conclusion, if want base with a small amount nightlife, with easy access to other parts of the island, at a reasonable price I would recomend this hotel. The only thing I would warn anyone about, if traveling independantly transport from the airport to this hotel requires two buses, the downside is the airport bus drops in Palma central and it is about a 10 minute walk from there to the bus station for the bus to Portal nous where you are dropped for the hotel. It is then just a few minutes walk, fares cost around 10 euros per person in total. I would suggest a cab door to door, costs 30-35 euros.

4 star equals 3 star at this hotel. The breakfast was good except coffee, milk and sausages. Once we tried the menu for dinner, but it was not as the best (ot worth 18EUR). The staff was polite and tried to help us in every case. The wireless internet was great in the room, but had to ask for the password at reception.

It's a good solution for the following reasons: - 5 min. from a wonderful beach (forth st. on the right); - 15 min. by bus from the beautiful Palma and from Palmanova/Megalluf (last bus from Palma at 22.30 and bus every 30 min. for 1.35 euro/person); - nice outdoor/indoor pool; - rich international breakfast (buffet); - budget and typical restaurant on the left of the hotel (Continental), the paella is very good! - romantic port (Port Nous) where to walk and enjoy little clubs. The only bad side: a bit noisy in the corridors at 8-9 am everyday and clean staff absolutely not polite

Thoroughly enjoyed stay, staff were helpful and cheerfull. Food was good, unfortunately there none of the promised calimari at breakfast, however there was a large & plentiful selection. Have decided to visit again Oct 06.
