The hotel has an awe-inspiring location on top of a sea-cliff overlooking a lush gorge. It is perfectly located for walkers - being nearby levada and cliff walks (although car hire is recommended to get about to other nearby walking hot-spots such as the Paul da Serra). However, it also a lovely quiet place to stay if you wish to relax, with a range of activities (e.g. tennis, spa, pool etc.) and fantastic buffet breakfasts and dinners. The range of foods on the buffet is delightfully presented, and it also serves an a la carte menu.

We had a lovely stay for 2 nights and really could not fault the rooms, facilities, service, food or location. Excellent breakfasts and evening buffets. Everything was fine - a good 4star. It was a shame there were street lights outside the bedrooms but I guess this is everywhere nowadays. Good walking country and an interseting coastline. A bit over the top with Feng Shui in colour schemes but quite tasteful so no problem.
