Pros: The room was spacious, cleaned regularly, the beds were comfortable (not terrific, but generally okay). The hotel's location is good. Neutral: The surrounding area is full of night clubs, you might have to close the terrace door if you want to fall asleep - but it's bearable. Cons: The food seemed to be targeted on British guests: burgers, steaks, fries for dinner; scrambled eggs with beans for breakfast. Although there was a fairly good selection of food, we missed the selection of Catalan food. The restaurant was stocked with people in the evening; the waiters are so enthusiastic finding tables for newly coming guests that once we arrived back with some desserts from the buffet tables, our table was given to someone else. The front desk staff wasn't aware of how we could buy a ticket to the Water World Lloret - so we had to find a tourist office ourselves in town.

Albergo discreto, pulito, carino, un po' caotico soprattutto nell'area del ristorante, i camerieri non erano particolarmente accoglienti, la cucina era forse piu' da mensa aziendale che non da albergo a 4 stelle.

Excellent value for money - we stayed on an all-inclusive basis. Staff were friendly and very efficient - very good level of customer service. Our room was clean and comfortable, and as we requested, we were given a room in a quiet position.

The hotel is old indeed, but in good shape. The food is awful for me, but others guest, especially from England, were absolutely satisfied by toast and beans. There is HUGE problem with the parking, the hotel’s is very small and expensive (10 euro per day), there is limited parking facilities in surrounding even in the winter! I can’t image what will happen in the summer! There is no w-fi in the rooms – you should use the PCs on the ground floor (1 euro for 15 minutes). By the price what we paid (278 euro for 2 adults and 1 small child on HB basis for 8 days) - it’s nice offer. I don’t think that this hotel costs even more.

Hotel is 15-20 min walk from train station. No aspirator nor windows in the bathroom. We were Full-Board. Drinks price are honest. Buffet is abundant - though does not vary a lot. Tons of eggs and bacon for breakfast, less croissant and no cakes no bar espresso or cappuccino. Swimming pool is too little (when the hotel is full of cute Russian children). Evening show/disco is ok for under 13 and over 50. Good pubs/disco at walking distance.

Spacious room, beach and disco at 300 meters. BUT don't choose Full board or All inclusive: the restaurant is NOT as good as the rest of the hotel / Chambre spacieuse, plage et discothèque a 300m. Toutefois, nous étions en pension complète (Full Board FB) mais énormément déçu par le restaurant, loin d'être à la hauteur du standing de l'hotel. ATTENTION AUX VOLS dans la voiture !

We thought the hotel was 1st class couldnt find fault at all, exept for the food which was the worst in all the hotels we have been to, which is such a shame as everything else was perfect, would still stay there again though as it was a lovely hotel for the price, its no wonder they dont have a lot left for the food as it must cost a lot to run the hotel to those standards and all the alcahol you can drink

Due to error between hotel and internet booking, we where kept waiting until a room was found. The room was no.912, next to the air conditioning unit that started up at 07.20 every morning, WHAT A NOISE. Other than that the week was super. Hotel, room and food very good indeed and good value for money.

My husband and I spent 10 beautiful days in the hotel Top Amaika in Calella in July this year. I must say that I was a bit sceptical on what will wait for us there. But there was no reason for scepticism – it was all perfect. The reservation made through internet was waiting for us in the hotel. The prices were confirmed and the service provided was of high quality. The assortment and quality of the food was very good and the cleanliness of the room was more than satisfactory. Overall, great hotel, highly recommended.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The room was very nice, comforable, and well cleaned. The food was good, although not always "roasting hot", and yes, it wasn't sirloin or fillet steak, but one would have needed to be "difficult" not to have found something to eat (and that's from someone with a wife who can be...). We would certainly go back, and hope to early in 2005.

Really good value for money. The main problems that we had was the awful smell of drains in the bathroom - don't know why as we were on the 9th Floor. The other problem was lack of staff in the dining room to clear the tables and the choice of evening meal was poor but as we paid so little for the food we accepted this.

Let me start by saying that this place is was a great value. it included a large buffet breakfeast and had a nice pool, only 1 block from the beach, a 20-25 minute train ride into barcelona. the problem was the room we had was directly over the bar/disco room. the noise was ridicously loud. we asked twice for room changes but were told nothing was available, or the person who could authorize a change was not working at that time. with earplugs it was barely doable. they have nice tile floors, the maids and othrer guests slide the beds and furniture around (seemingly) all day. there were a lot of children dominating the pool, but the beach just steps away is really wide open.

Great hotel with a wonderful location. We went into the hotel with a all inclusive deal but were disappointed with the food and drinks. The bartender was rude in his giving us "free" drinks and made it clear he did like to serve them. The rest of the staff is very competent, and the location is prime; 5 min from the beach and 10 min from the train staion. Great stay.

The hotel was exceptional value for money with entertainment provided in the evenings. The hotel was ideally suited for our purpose which was to visit Barcelona and Girona. Both journeys were about 1 hour by train. The hotel was very comfortable and decorated on the Titanic theme. Well worth a visit if you are planning to stay in the Calella.

During our stay there were a large number of Spanish teenagers who made a lot of noise throughout most nights. Breakfast was the same every day and more variety would have been preferred. This was our second stay and overall we had an excellent time and will visit again.

To whom it may concern, This booking was the most unplesant experience we had during the vacation. I just do not want to tell all the horror stories. But for sure we'll never stay in Amaika and if next time we'll have the same problems with hotel booked through you web site, we will stop using you too. On arrival we were told that parking is not available (nearest parking 25 min to walk), bell boy is no available and we had only 5 min to take the suitcases to the room - they told that police is very diligent there. We were given room #108 with the smell of human waste and when we complaned about it we were told that this was the only room available and all hotels in town are booked completely, never mind I told them that we would pay upcharge for a better room. We barely survived two sleepless nights after that I went to the reception and complained, To our surprise the staff in the reception knew about smell situiation in the room # 108, the moved us to the room # 508 which was positioned on the top of the garbage bins. After we requested to see the director of the hotel to discuss the situation saying that we were not paying for 2 nights. We did not see direcrors but we got a proper room, parking for the last day. But it did not save the day. We left the hotel with sour taste. We did not come to the hotel on vacations to fight for our survival. Hope to get a responce Leon Tolokunsky
