Solimar Aparthotel - Calafell

The Solimar hotel was quite a shocking experience. I was tired and I went to sleep early, but I could only sleep until 11:00 pm (23:00), when I was abruptly awakened: at that time the hotel garden (which includes two nice swimming pools) becomes an open-air discotheque with loud high-volume music. Apparently the receptionist did not share my view, that a hotel is basically a place where you pay to sleep. She told me that the disco is for the benefit of the hotel guests, and that the hotel got a regular police permission for running it. I would recommend the Solimar hotel to whomever likes high-volume music in the night; for the others, the Solimar can become a super-noisy place where night sleeping is not guaranteed. I am even embarrassed to rate the hotel - after all, how do you rate a restaurant that prevents you from eating, or a hotel that prevents you from sleeping? On the other hand, when the disco is not running, the Solimar is a nice hotel and the employees are very kind and helpful. Without the disco, the quality for price would be excellent; the disco seems just a stupid initiative that nullifies all the other good aspects – kind of an own-goal of the hotel management.

Situato a un centinaio di metri dalla spiaggia, prezzi ottimi per una doppia in regime di mezza pensione 32 euro per persona. Cena a buffet sicuramente migliorabile ma per il prezzo si può tranquillamente chiudere un occhio.Stanza piccolina comunque pulita, letto non sufficiente, comunque per un soggiorno di 3 giorni può andare. Tv solo con programmi spagnoli.Nessuna ficcanasaggine da parte del personale.Rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo.

Very good location, cheap and pleasant. Warm welcome and very enjoyable food. A place i would recommand, 1 hour by train from Barcelona, half an hour from tarragona and Salou. Very nice beach at 5 minutes' walk
