City View Hotel - Cairo

We had some miscommunication with the hotel staff regarding the free ride to the hotel. Apparently, when you book the hotel they offer a free ride to the hotel (remeber to put in your airline, flight #, and time so somebody will actually come pick you up from CAI). The hotel staff stated that we did not provide that info thus they did not come pick us up, but no where was there a section that stated that shuttle service was offered or a section to input that information. Make sure you just put that info in the special accommodation section. However, the hotel does not provide a free ride to the airport on departure (they charged around 60EP for one way to CAI and you are expected to tip the driver as well). In addition, there is no note in the room stating that the water and soda cost money, so dont drink them. I would recommend just going to the stands outside the hotel for the drinks ...they are much cheaper (~2-4EP for water)and you can just store it in the frig. The hotel offers a number of services to provide guide/activities for the customers but the prices are more expensive. For example, we wanted to sail on a felucca. Hotel quoted 100EP/pp. My friend and I got a taxi ride round trip for ~20EP (10EP/one way) then bargain with the Duk Duk Tourist across from the Four Season Hotel to offer a one hr felucca ride (does not matter how many ppl its per boat) for 50EP. So we saved 130EP doing it by ourselves. But overall the hotel was pretty good considering the amt of money ($60/night) and the location is very convenient. The metro is only about 2 blocks away to ride (~1EP each way). We took it to Coptic Cairo to see the churches and mosque for 2EP!! And the Egyptian Museum is literally right across from the hotel. If you would like to save money and be in the heart of the city I would definitely recommend this hotel!
