Hotel Reviews Le Grimaldi
Single traveller
Italy, Jun 2009
Actually I was asked to stay in a private room, due to an overbooking. I have to say that the change was for excellence, since the new room was actually an entire, beautiful house. Even though some service and communication were not as expected due to the lack of personnel, I have to admit that the experience was surprising and really beautiful

The restaurant had been closed for the winter, and access to the (charming) owners was via a mobile phone except at breakfast time. The stairs to the rooms are very steep - this should be mentioned on the website. The basin in my bathroom was cracked and one of the pillowcases ragged. Views are stunning, however, & if the room had a bit of a makeover it would be worth the money.

We stayed 2 nights at Le Grimaldi and it was excellent, staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean and breakfast good. It's in the old town and very picturesque, woludn't recommend for mature couple as very hilly and 2 flights of narrow steps to the rooms althought Tomaz had no problem with helping you with your bags. Really enjoyed our stay and would return again if visiting nearby Nice'.

This is an ideal hotel for those who like small hotels with old world charm. The food and wine is also very good. My wife and I spent 2 nights here at the end of our trip to Provence and it was a great ending to a great trip. Also only 20 mins to Nice airport by taxi or approx an hour by (two) buses. Tomaz, the proprietor, was very friendly and helpful.

A wonderful, friendly, cosy hotel in historic surroundings. I have already recommended Le Grimaldi to friends who intends to visit Nice-area.

This hotel is situated in the heart of a tiny medieval village which is perched on top of a very steep hill. Access is via very narrow, busy roads and not for unskilled drivers. It is almost impossible to get close to the hotel to load or unload luggage. There is no parking and it is quite impossible (in July) to park anywhere in the village. The hotel is well furnished in a contemporary style despite the building being very old, the stairs very steep and the turns in the stairs quite difficult with luggage (there is no lift). There are no public rooms. The forcourt restaurant is largely used by the public, it is expensive, the menu is very limited and the food uninspiring. The owners speak no French but speak very good English and seem to speak several scandinavian languages. The hotel is certainly in a charming place. There was a jazz concert in the square in front of the hotel one Friday while we were there.

Very nice hotel and relatively near Nice airport. Steep stairway to rooms might be a problem for people with mobility problems.

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel Grimaldi. Hotel is quaint, in beautiful location and easily accessible from Nice Airport. Bedrooms exceptionally comfortable and tastefully decorated. Restaurant food very high standard.

Very quaint small hotel in village square on top of a hill. Poor parking but the views make up for it. Food gorgeous tho a little expensive. Definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway!

Date stayed April 24 2008 Rarely do i write a review but this place deserves it. We only had one night to book on our own without Hilton Points, and I saw this place on Trip Advisor. The reviews were all strong and it looked like a break from the big hotels were staying in. Getting there is easy. At the Nice airport you can take a taxi for 40 euros or take the #200 bus outside of terminal 1 for 1 Euro. Take it to the main bus square in Cagnes-sur-Mer. From there catch the free bus to the old town that runs every 15 minutes. We were greeted by name by Tomaz as we approached the lovely building and were escorted immediately to a small but very charming room overlooking the square and small valley beyond. The bed had premium linens and a comfortable mattress. The room was quiet. For lunch we opted to eat outside at the hotel overlooking the square. The food was some of the best of the trip. So good that we stayed late on checkout day so we could have lunch again. There are plenty of choices on the square and that night we chose to eat at Le Jimmy' s for pizza- another great choice. The one night was capped off by a few sets at the Black Cat jazz bar next door. Breakfast was the best we had particularly the buttery croissants and premium meats and cheeses. We wrestled with canceling the next couple of nights in Monaco and just staying there. The 500 year old district is unique and there is much to do. Eventually we opted to continue our travels. In retrospect we should have stayed in the quiet surrounding of Cagnes-sur-Mer.

A very lovely little hotel located in a delightful the delightful village of Haut Cagnes. The breakfast was superb. We wished we had had a meal there, but comments from other diners indicated that the meals were excellent.

This boutique type hotel was a highlight of our stay in the Europe. Impeccably and tastefully refurbished, the room was a delight to stay in. The service and the restaurant were also a reflection of the good taste and high standard of the owners, Rick and Werner. It was an intimate type setting where a traveller could feel they were a guest in a B&B, getting to know not only the owners, but also the retaurant and cleaning personnel.

I booked this room as a last resort so as to be in the Nice area for convenient departure the following day and had no idea it would be the star of our vacation. The rooms were a unique combination of old and chic modern. The linens, pillows, etc. a dream to sleep on. Plus, the food was a spectacular delight both in taste and in presentation. I only wish it was not our last day and that we had booked longer!
