Best Hotel - Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Caen

First time in this hotel, travelled to Caen for friend's birthday as a group. Staff were very friendly and helpful: arranging taxis into city centre for us. Although hotel is basic - the rooms were very clean and had an excellent standard of bathroom. There is a shop near by which sold all essentials. Would reccomend this hotel to others.

We did not enjoy our stay at this hotel. The room was small and the bed so near the wall that when I got up in the night I banged my head on the wall. The receptionist was not particularly helpful and when we found out that the restaurant was not open, her directions to where we could eat were so meagre that we got lost. When we did eventually find the thriving town centre, it was no problem, but she didn't help us get there. We were very disappointed that the hotel restaurant does not open at the weekends out of season. One of the reasons we booked that particular hotel was that it had a restaurant. After a long and tiring journey on the day we wanted to watch TV for an hour and then eat in the restaurant. We could do neither of these and would not book this hotel again.

Ideal stopover for morning ferry

To start with bad things: 1) walls don't really filter any noise -although windows do- and they can forget to put you new towels -which can be really bad if you notice only when the hotel staff has left late at night. 2) Surroundings are as boring as it gets, but you get to reach the beaches easily by car. Nothing to eat out walking distance. Average: breakfast is just fine, greasy and sticky. Good: nice and kind staff, clean rooms. This was a last-minute choice (everything else was booked) and we would not probably choose to stay here in the future if we have time to look for other hotels (unless we are very much constrained by our budget, so I can't completely discard it!).

Famille avec Bébé de 9 mois. Bel hotel propre, calme et accueillant, mais située en banlieue caennaise (il faut traverser des citées pour y arriver) mais l'hotel est située en retrait des tours, il est proche d'une 2 fois 2 voies heureusement peu fréquentée. Chambre vraiment petite surtout une fois le lit bébé installé => pas pratique et chambre plutot male insonnorisée. Attention, pas d'ascenseur. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et varié pour 7 euros supplémentaire. Rien à dire de ce coté là ! Possibilité de dinner sur place. Hotel conseillé car très bon rapport qualité prix.

The main problem we had was that your online map was not very good and we made several wrong turnings! The rooms had 2 single beds.The breakfast was excellent. Great value and excellent choice.

Well-located in Herouville-St Clair for automobile trips to the Normandy Beaches. Parking. On a good main road, near Bd Peripherique. Good food, buffet, wine. In a suburb, NOT downtown Caen. Helpful staff.

The Best hotel in Caen was fine, however, the Arcantis Alba Rouen was not. No parking available as promised, unhelpful staff, poor information, very noisy room, terrible directions and breakfast not as good as the Best Hotel in Caen and more expensive.
