I`ve stayed there before with my wife and had family dinners and get-together meals there when it used to be a half-decent restaurant. The quality of the food is certainly not as it used to be, as it`s now a `2 for a tenner` pub food hotel. That`s fine as it was quite apparent, but I asked the lady behind the bar what the Sunday roasts were like and was told they were good, especially the yorkshire puddings. My older son and I ordered the 2 meat roast and were presented with 1 slice each of beef and turkey, both with the consistency of `boil-in-the-bag` meat. we were also informed that they had `run out of mash` and only had new potatoes. As the place was very quiet, I can only guess there had been a potato shortage that weekend in the surrounding area. We didn`t go to the local supermarkets that day so couldn`t tell. Anyway, under the cardboard yorkshire pudding lay a flattened splodge of something supposed to be a roast potato. Not seen anything like that before. My younger son enjoyed his mixed grill and the pudding was nice. The room was ok, very clean and the staff were friendly and kind. Breakfast was also ok but the tea was dismally weak, I suppose young people have no idea what strong tea looks like, but you would certainly need 4-5 `Twinings everyday tea bags` in a pot to make anything drinkable. I`d probably come again to use the hotel, but I wouldn`t have dinner again. Not real cooking.

Good points, Staff pleasant and helpful; faulty shower head replaced quickly. Bad points, Our "DOUBLE" room was single size with double bed and room for one chair; Bathroom was tiny like a corridor and grouting dirty with some tiles missing by toilet cistern, toilet pan badly crazed and stained, hand basin cracked, damage to bath (could be a hole); Shower head was broken; No lounge area for guests; Overall look internally was "very tired".

Room 3 needs some refurbishment, especially the wall opposite the bed. Breakfast menu was good and the staff were helpful and polite.

We stayed in the Superior Room and it was a delight. The en-suite was superb and the bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel staff were all friendly. We ate in the hotel in the evening, the food was good and well presented. The breakfast, too was excellent.
